How is Hunter x Hunter a deconstruction of shounen? Give examples.
How is Hunter x Hunter a deconstruction of shounen? Give examples
>deconstruction
you spergs don't know what this word means, stop using it
It puts asspuls on top of asspulls
You don't either user.
Hunter x Hunter is just battle shonen but actually good. Hunterfags tell themselves that it means that Togashi deconstructed something.
>pitou's ass
>DICKconstruction
Only one I can think of is that there's multiple tournament parts and they all end early or are filled with people who don't care about winning at all.
>no u
so this is the fabled brain power of the hxhchads.... woah.......
It takes generic tropes and subverts them. Killua, the edgy broody protag ends up being the more heroic and thoughtful one while Gon, the happy go lucky honest one goes down a dark and hateful rogue path. The fightboner lord is turned into an actual sick twisted person like anyone like that would be instead of the "heroic" fight addicts in the genre.
It's pretty basic stuff but I guess that's new for kids mangas.
>It takes generic tropes and subverts them.
fucking naruto did that too
at this point subverting tropes has become a trope in itself
It's just a good battle manga that has better villains/side characters than most others, that's why I like it. I never really overanalyzed this manga and I still really love it.
Isn't the OP calling out exactly that by asking this question?
WHAT the fuck is wrong with her ass in this picture
It isn't. That's not a knock against it, it's one of my favorites, but calling it a deconstruction is peak autism.
>netero was a sick twisted person
No, he was based.
Motherfucker fingered himself to death and became nuclear
>failed to explain what a deconstruction is
SO you really don't know. I gave you a chance.
He's not talking about Netero, retard.
>fight addict
Who the fuck is he talking about then?
I agree that hisoka is twisted, but you can see he is getting fond of gon in a not
>i want to kill you
way
The dude who is so addicted to fighting that he gets sexually aroused by it, and pulled a ruse against an elite crime organization just to fight the boss for his amusement.
why's that tail coming out of his asscrack
deconstruction is a method of literary analysis devised by some french jew that's basically pointless postmodern jargoning
a story in itself can't be a deconstruction, it only applies to the work of a critic interpreting the structure of said story
Dragonball did those same things
Desconstruction would be those superhuman fighters being consisdered monsters by the society ,superpowers banned etc
If it was a desconstruction them Shounen basic traits would be the main theme and would be constantly shown in a bad light, that's clearly not the case with HxH
Only thing getting deconstructed here is that cat ass.
>its a deconstruction because it subverts tropes
Your fanbase is fucking retarded.
Why do HxH fans think their show is some godsend miracle of writing? It's got one of the best power systems I've seen, and great villains. But it's a farcry from the 2deep4u shit fans act like it is.
>it only applies to the work of a critic interpreting the structure of said story
>Authors can't convey their own interpretation of a trope or a story through their own only critics can do it because i said so
What's a good 2deep4u manga in your opinion ?
Everything seems deep and complex to a retard.
ok you're completely retarded
Yeah when have authors ever criticized anything through their work only people who work as critics do, literary analysis isn't for authors.
>It's got one of the best power systems
true
>and great villains
they are mediocre, the only good villains in this manga are the Phantom Troupe
It's not, at best it subverts things, sometimes it subverts payoff too.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
>Dishonest Paneling
>Post-Isekai inversions
>Grating indefinite amateurish line-work
>Gatcha Game Iconography
>Stoicism as social currency inverted through solipsistic ToC fetish
That's a sexy ant (male).
Killua is canon gay. Reminder:
>Togashi previously wanted to write a sports shōnen with a canon gay crossdressing boy as the protagonist, but Shueisha shut him down.
>Togashi would then go on to write Yu Yu Hakusho, a hugely popular series.
>as thanks, and because Togashi had worked himself halfway to death, Shueisha allows Togashi free rein to do whatever he wants with Hunter x Hunter (hence his erratic schedules that would get any other author fired).
>Togashi also has full ownership over Hunter x Hunter, giving him absolute control over the story.
>now that he has so much power, Togashi plans on getting revenge on Shueisha for canning his gay sports manga all those decades ago by making Killua gay and they can’t stop him.
Further reasons:
>in chapter 286 (episode 121), Killua literally says he and Gon will commit "shinjū," otherwise known as "double suicide" — a term connotated with lovers.
>Togashi clearly has an interest in the "weird," as seen with Hisoka and Alluka.
>Togashi is married to Takeuchi, author of Sailor Moon — a series that features canon lesbians. In addition, the current Hunter x Hunter arc features a lesbian kiss between Morena and one of her followers.
>Yu Yu Hakusho has a gay couple: Sensui and Itsuki, showing that Togashi is willing to include gay characters and relationships in his stories.
>everything Togashi does is for a reason. When he includes scenes such as Killua's "Gon, you are light" and "shinjū,” he knows how fans will interpret them. To say otherwise implies he’s ignorant.
>to claim this is all bait is to insult Togashi, because that implies he's a hack who has to resort to the lowest form of writing: pandering. He is not that desperate.
>as seen in chapter 323 (episode 139), even Hisoka thinks Killua’s most “beloved” is Gon.
And the main reason:
>Togashi is a mad man.
Could you give examples ?
I wounder how betrayed you will feel when they never canonically date and Togashi never confirm it on interviews.
It's a deconstruction because most shonen run on a weekly schedule and the mangaka for HxH is always on hiatus
>It's got one of the best power systems I've seen
Not really. Take Emission and Conjuration, for example, That one guy that Hisoka was fighting, he was able to make a doppelganger of himself. That ability was conjuration, because it created a physical doppelganger. But Goreinu can create gorillas, and that power is emission, because the gorillas are nen beasts and aren't "physical".
And it's even a plot point that the doppelganger guy has an affinity towards Enhancement, and is better suited to Emission techniques because of that.
So WHY DIDN'T HE MAKE HIS DOPPELGANGER INTO AN EMISSION TECHNIQUE.
And don't even get me started on how Specialization is basically just a category for "anything that the author comes up with, that doesn't fit into the other categories"
I'll be fine with him leaving it ambiguous. That'd be much more preferable than Killua suddenly getting a girlfriend in the epilogue, which so many shōnen are guilty of.
Uhm nice theory, but Killua looked creeped out when he saw Hisoka's massive erection in Greed Island. If he was gay, he would have been aroused
the villains are honestly overrated besides Meruem imo.
Mereum was meme tier at best.
Each major arc is a different major shounen genre trope while it subverts various shonen conventions.
>adventure trials
>tournament where you win by not quitting and forcing your opponent to quit
>battle tournament where they just quit in the middle and drop all pretense of advancing
>heist thriller
>mmo alternate reality thing
The main characters face serious consequences and don't always escape cleanly.
Developed characters die.
Powers are driven by consequential tradeoffs that take tolls on characters and force unique and strategic interaction.
>2 traps
>a twink
>fat otaku
>itachi
Silva needs to be fixed or get someone else pregnant. Something is wrong with those genes.
Naruto and One Piece are closer to a shounen deconstruction than Hunter x Hunter
>Naruto:using kids to deadly missions show clear consequences, Naruto want to change things to be less violent
>One Piece: exploring forbidden areas and constantly fighting makes you a public menace
HxHfags don't. It's just shitposters. Ignore them.
>Subverting Tropes
Just because you subvert tropes doesn't mean your show is deep. Game of Thrones is currently dealing with a shit-show right now as a result of poor trope subversion.
>So WHY DIDN'T HE MAKE HIS DOPPELGANGER INTO AN EMISSION TECHNIQUE.
Because he was a moron. That's why he died.
His fighting style also involved deception and confusing the opponent. A Emission-based doppelganger might be very obvious compared to a physical one made with Conjuration.
Why is he so hot?
just gonna leave this here
It's not, it interprets certain common tropes more realistically than other shonen battle series' but it's not at all a deconstruction.
>It's not
thick catbug penis
It subverts battle shonen by being half decent.
That completely goes against the format.
>illumi
>trap
also killua is 14 when he finishes puberty he will be a fucking beast
The traps refer to Kalluto and Nanika.
He'll go from twink to bara, what an upgrade. I don't know how you read that as me saying that Ilumi is a trap. I was talking about Kalluto and Nanika.
