I can't stand how Asano throws digital filters at everything and how many of his backgrounds are obvious stylized stock photos that clashes with the foreground charactersis, it's barely something you can call "art". He completely lacks the sense of aesthetics and obviously doesn't know how to do proper paneling.
Compared to Togashi's fundamentals, sense of composition and paneling, and his understanding of anatomy, lighting, space/depth and expressions, he merely stands out from the crowd as an amateur.

Editors force all the new mangaka to use a certain style that is fashionable among their new readers. If you look at all the series in Jump, the drawings look very similar and the panel composition is pretty standard. Only veterans like Togashi can afford to actually do something different and challenge themselves artistically. That's why his artwork is so peculiar and he only uses ink. Althrough, recently he's been using some CGI and has 6 assistants, but peak Togashi was something to behold.

I wouldn't call his photos stock, at least if you go on what is shown in the manben episode. He's taking a lot of the shots himself with an image and place in mind so i'd argue he has a story he wants to tell. I do agree on his implementation being subpar, theres not enough conscious choice being made about what to keep and what to omit and overall the pages end up overly dark and heavy. That said I think there are times in Dead dead where hes making use of what being digital has to offer as a tool rather than a crutch however the faults in his value ranges and the like still stand out.
