>villainess confesses to MC and he reciprocates

>Antagonist destroys the protangists beliefs

In what anime/manga does this actually happen

Need more of this.

>Nerdy character is the most honourable character

>It CAN be helped.

>MC gets curbstomped by the built up final boss with no hope in sight

>MC does something evil and everyone hates it
>MC did it for them
>Side-character finds out and keeps it to them-self, becoming closer friends with the MC

>adjusting glasses reflects an unknown source of light

>opening theme doesn't play at the start of the episode.......

>the old master finally gets serious

Attached: yukarireacts.jpg (400x578, 87K)

>Half the episode isn't made up of the recap, opening song, ending song and next episode preview

>MC yells the name of the villain
>A remix of the main theme starts playing
>MC remembering all the friends he made along the way and how they're all dead

Just when I was watching this

Attached: megane.webm (640x360, 326K)

OP starts playing at the end of the last episode

Attached: image_3.jpg (598x714, 46K)

>When the main character and the villain switch perspectives the morality switch

>The first few seconds of the OP plays during the start of the episode and transitions nicely into the actual opening

What about
>nerdy character is actually the most badass character

>ruined moment because of bad animation

Can you recomend me anime where this happens? i'm looking for somethings like this

>pun names
Corny as fuck but I love it.

Attached: 1462584868447.jpg (1030x824, 130K)

>battle anime
>annoying bitch gets hit once and becomes a decent character because of it
or
>annoying bitch gets family/friends killed and becomes a better character because of it

>Battle anime
>Main female character regularly partakes in battles and is actually competent

>minor changes to OP each episode as the show goes on

Elfen Lied

>antagonist's theme song plays against them as the MC beats them up

Hunter x Hunter

>OP spoils literally everything and noone even know it

>something impactful happens and everything turns black and white.

>bing watch a series
>op of final episode runs
>"HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!"
such a great feel tbqh

Like akatsuki no yona

>Question
>BYE BYE YESTERDAY

Attached: 1545322825529.jpg (450x643, 57K)

>cold-open of episode shows the final moments of the previous ep from a different POV/character/angle

>Character (villain or MC) has serious/life-threatening injuries but still stands and continues to fight.

Guilty trope I love.

Attached: Touma vs Accel.png (1792x1300, 751K)

>female MC is not a human and thus alone for her entire life
>male MC is a human but for her sake goes through dangerous transformation to become like her so they could be together

>OP character gets introduced and actually continues to live up to their status

>Character loses someone important and goes berserk

Retarded character finally saying something that makes the most sense

>comic relief character gets serious and is actually insanely strong

Attached: 1545760319720.png (1377x1080, 524K)

How about
>Overpowered hero faces off against overpowered villain

Attached: tumblr_p27te1TXLa1wzshpdo1_640.png (602x847, 413K)

>joke character actually has his own character arc and becomes one of the best characters in whole story

>And they're both insanely prideful and arrogant

>OP characters displays such overwhelming power that the asshole character who was trying to fight him genuinely breaks down
A bit of a guilty pleasure perhaps but it's a lot of fun. Especially if it's a useless/corrupt aristocrat or something.

>villain realizes they're fucked

Attached: strikers.webm (640x360, 2.65M)

>Impossible!

>It starts playing in the climax of the episode

>Was that your plan all along!?
> ... Yes.

>aims right at her vagina

>I was going to just let you walk away, but you said something you shouldn't have...

>MC was merely pretending to be retarded and reveals just how far back his plans go

>MC teams up with minor villains to standa against the ultimate big bad

>when the bad man or angry man understands what christmas is about
oh wait you mean anime
>when the mc goes through a growth that is uplifting.

I love this
The entirety of One Punch Man is just waiting for Saitama to show up and for this trope to happen

>hooo?

Attached: i-have-pretended-to-be-mentally-retarded-for-seven-years-1625290.png (500x397, 72K)

>You and I aren't so different after all
>said by the hero

>In other circumstances we could've been friends.

Classic.

>would I have ended up like him if I didnt have my friends

Attached: 1558066901937.png (850x478, 612K)

>LANGUAGE

Attached: 164 - grRGBQF.png (1102x1600, 286K)

>Character uses a technique that their fallen rival shared with them

He knows better koine than I do

>all the bad guys team up to defeat the protagonist

Attached: MeliodasVS10C.jpg (1786x1300, 449K)

>fat guy gets cucked

>Chant is so long and beautiful that it almost counts as poem
Or
>Chant is a Bible reference

>mindfuck ending
>look at the beginning of the series
>there were hints all along

I enjoy this trope of heavily shading a character's face when they listen to something they didn't want to hear or have a realization they could have done without.

Attached: K13.png (884x1257, 1.11M)

>MUH MAGIC
Based Shota-Potter.

>MC gets cocky after a victory
>random new character shows up
>MC begin the fight loaded with confidence
>gets absolutely humiliated and/or injured
>back to square 1 with the basics

>MC and the big bad team up to beat a bigger bad

>There were hints even in the openings

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 125K)

>The weakest characters have the most epic scenes

What about tropes that I HATE
>MC starts laughing
>villain asks, "have you gone mad from despair?"
It's never the other way around.

>Gunbuster Final Episode

>villain is completely normal during the day.
>Everyone knows he's the villain still.

That's more like the opposite though

This seems stupid. You wouldn't, for example, turn into a black man just so you can date a black woman.

>mc finally gets to fight the person/thing that have been hearing about all series

Attached: AC7_Stonehenge_Firing.jpg (1920x1080, 1.14M)

It's not about race, it's about lifespan or ability to simply survive in the same environment.

A girl comes out of my monitor and holds me.

>Villain from the previous series returns to fuck up the new villain

It's more losing your nobility to date a commoner. Or like becoming a jew so you can date a Jewish woman.

>Villain beats MC with the power of fruendship

My favorite trope is when the author comes up with an original idea

Have you got any good examples for the first one? I love me some chuuni chants.

>minor villain goes full Absolute Madman and out-keikakus the main villain

>MC from previous series is the bad guy in the new one

God I love Shrek too

Kino anime desu

>jobbers thinking MC is doing badly but powerful characters getting shook
Gets me hard every time even though I know it's a cheap power fantasy tactic.

Attached: 1546409143542.gif (500x281, 982K)

Villain doesn't have a tragic backstory or "for the greater good" justification, he just wants mayhem/power/money.

>Nobody believes it at first but the crazy/weird one is actually right all along

High end version:
>The villain does it because its fucking fun for him/really cant stand a guy.

Attached: The Major.jpg (1911x1210, 1.41M)

>villains from the previous series job to the new villain to establish new threats

>the villain motivation was that one time he got 1 less chicken nuggets than usual at the local mcdonald

>Side character villain gets a background chapter and ends up so much better due to it.

The same was with Senor Pink in One Piece, love that one.

Attached: Twice_after_the_battle_of_Twices.png (1920x1080, 1.44M)

>The life threatening power up does actually end up killing the character.

Attached: 1544794583991.png (460x357, 272K)

Senior pink and god ussop made that whole arc tolerable.

>the antagonist just wants some tendies

>kids' sport is srs bzns
>kids' sport is actually ancient (ayylium) allmighty tool

Attached: 6ZgmvjE.jpg (699x393, 36K)

>this is my space. If you enter it you die
The space is usually a circle around the character. I love it because someone is getting btfo

>character with glasses takes them off before a fight with a powerful enemy

don't tropes have to appear frequently enough for recognition of a corelation?

>Villain recognizes himself in the MC and decides to lose to him

>hero and villain team up against the bigger threat.

>built-up final boss gets beaten by a seemingly unimportant character
>that character then beats the MC as well

>author takes a liking to him

When Kuroki inevitably reappears for a fight in Omega, is he going to continue to stomp everything with MARTIAL ARTS FUNDAMENTALS and EXPERIENCE or is he going to job to establish a threat
Him calling himself green at the end of Asura really makes me think he's going to job to show off the power of the antagonists whenever they reveal themselves.

not to turn it into a kengan thread, but I feel like he'll tie or narrowly beat one of the villains just for another thats just as strong to be right there

On it’s own Kuroki jobbing to the antagonist wouldn’t feel too hamfisted, but any other character beating someone strong enough to make Kuroki job would be complete bullshit.

Are there any other good examples of this? Kengan honestly is the only one i could think of right now.

>become right
>become cute BIG girl
Easy peasy.

>Antagonist becomes MC's bro
>Antagonist and MC team up and co-op a bigger enemy
>OP starts to play during the final battle.
This shit makes me diamonds.

but couldn't you just become a little girl with the right + additional choices

Yeah Shrek was the only time I could think of that trope

>No one acknowledged me
>I have to get the world to acknowledge me

Stop saying MC teams up with the bad guys, I get it already.

>if it changed it's the original OP

It's not exactly the same, but Vegeta was originally supposed to die on Earth after his fight with Goku, it was only fans liking him so much that made Toriyama decide to keep him around.

Your headcanon isn't canon

>final showdown between protagonist and their friends and the ultimate big bad villain
>villain takes on some monster/giant/ultimate power form
>keeps beating down protagonists
>they band together and team up and keep persisting
>villain starts becoming overwhelmed
>Villain: "This is IMPOSSIBLE! I have a [insert specific term for power level here] of over one million and yours are only a pathetic 30,000!"
>Protagonist: "Heh, you just don't get it, do you?"
>villain becoming further overwhelmed
>Protagonist's best friend: "We're strong because we have eachother!"
>Protagonist's will they/won't they love interest: "That's a type of strength you will never understand!"
>Protagonist's loner rival turned friend: "If you stand alone, you'll fall alone too!"
>All together: "We stand together!"
>protagonist and friends defeat the villain with the power of friendship as villain screams "NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

I unironically love this shit and want every anime to end this way

Attached: 1437252368239.gif (300x237, 2.66M)

I'm big dumb

>Villains use the power of friendship to defeat a main character.

>MC uses the power of being a loner to beat the villains power of friendship

>"taking off some little training weights? won't make a diffe-"

He's gonna win but be too injured to fight further.

>first appearance of a new villain henchman bad guy
>completely decimates the MC and their friends, established as a tremendous threat

>all subsequent appearances
>becomes a comedic foil and slapstick character who's no more a threat than the other villains

The budget finally runs out and the production is so bad it's charming.

>villain loses with the power of family

this is it. thread should have ended here.

please tell me this is actually /u/ and not "suggestive" /u/

>protagonist's best friend has to step up to the villain
>villain mocks best friend as second banana and weaker than mc
>friend character gives villain a run for their money and only loses through plot contrivance/villain cheating close call

It kinda tapers out fine because Adachi is a fun villain.

UQ Holder?

Another man of taste.

This usually only applies to mecha anime, but

The shitposting was hilarious, though.

>Character in trouble is symbolically trapped in a void
>MC bursts into it to save them

Chuuni shit is dope and I think it's actually cool.

That reminds me of when three-year-old me did this maze puzzle that was on some spiderman coloring book. The scenario was something like "Spiderman has to get to these hostages in a burning building!!!," and I looked at it for a few seconds and thought "yeah but spiderman can bust through walls"
Ah, youth

But he can just bust through walls.

Damaging the walls could cause the structure to collapse

>heroine works for villain
>betrays villain to save MC
>villain ain't even mad

Dude I was 3, give a toddler a bit of leeway on the architectural engineering front willya

>reveal for what destroyed the world
>suddenly all the pieces of background all add up and make a lot more sense
Or
>MC has a plan to prevent utter destruction
>it fails

>MC was majorly involved in some historic, world saving moment / lead a superpowered double life
>circumstances forces him to show off his power in public / to his friends

pic related made my heart go all giggly as a kid when i first saw it.

also
>time travel, of one form or another
>primitive ancient people minds' blown the fuck off by modern day science / weapons / knowledge / etc.

for all the "NIPPON IS SUPERIOR" bullshit Gate presented us, I can't help but stick around to see how the otherworlders react to every modern crap we take for granted.

I really wish we got more of Gohan struggling to balance being the strongest hero and protector of the Earth after his old man with trying to live a normal-ish life, and ultimately finding his own way of doing things. Instead Goku just came back.

But I guess doing tournament arcs and big fights with bigger numbers is more interesting than actual character arcs.

WHY IS THE TEXT IN MANGA SPEECH BUBBLES ALWAYS WRITTEN IN ALL UPPERCASE?

IT'S NOT LIKE THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE USES THE LATIN ALPHABET, AND THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE A CONCEPT OF UPPER AND LOWERCASE LETTERS, SO THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ACTIVE DECISION MADE BY WESTERN TRANSLATORS.

I was actually JUST reading a scanlation the other day where they had a translator notes page at the end that said "WE'VE LISTENED TO YOUR DEMANDS AND SWITCHED TO ALL UPPERCASE"

So apparently there is a market for this

I wish this was a thing in real life

ITS EASIER TO READ THAT WAY ESPECIALLY IF THE TEXT IS SMALL

Naruto
HxH
Dragon Ball

Probably because most comics use only uppercase, so it's kind of the standard for that.

This shit is absolutely based

True, but comics are for children. Manga, on the other hand, is much more mature and sophisticated.

Is this game already out?

It was highlighted in nipland a lot because of Tiger & Bunny's Kotetsu always getting stuck paying fines due to rushing into things to save people.

What's this anime called? Saw a clip of it before but can't remember the name

>Two villains face off against each other

The name was right there in that post though. If you are planning to watch then watch it subbed, the dub has pointless re-writes and the voice acting is pretty bad.

>MC's love interest is revealed to be his biological sister
>gives up on her

SASUGA

Dragonforce

That's the fucking worst if we've spent so much time invested in them training to win beforehand. It makes it feel like it was all for nothing.

It also annoys me that someone could be so stupid as to not be cautious after a victory, and an unknown foe arrives.

>>city is shit saying hero was wrong for 'abandoning' them during a crisis even though they chased him out

>>he still comes back because that is what heroes do
>>gets proper recognition this time

More like
>>Comes back
>>Bodies the villian
>>Turns the city into a crater during the battle without the slightest regard for their property, even looks like he's purposely destroying as much as possible.
>>Tells them all to go fuck themselves
>>Leaves

Galand is the best example of this I think.

This made me laugh.

>villain gets up after being knocked down by lone protagonist
>Villain: "Heh, you just don't get it, do you?"
>protagonist becoming further overwhelmed
>Villain's best friend: "We're strong because we have eachother!"
>Villain's will they/won't they love interest: "That's a type of strength you will never understand!"
>Villain's loner rival turned friend: "If you stand alone, you'll fall alone too!"
>All together: "We stand together!"
>villain and friends defeat the protagonist with the power of friendship as protagonist screams "NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

What makes you think I was talking about OPM?

>Vegeta's final flash against Cell

This is trash. It's the sign of a true beta shounen MC.

Darkness-power using group are good.

>villain receives all of the powers of his rivals, the MCs, and all of the most powerful beings in their character's universe
>Can nullify or withstand every single attack from every protagonist
>Also withstands attacks from all of the most powerful characters from present AND past, all at once
>No-one knows how the fuck the villain will be beaten
>not even the author of the story
>villain is transformed into someone else with a weakness that they didn't have
>MCs work together to defeat this new villain

It's like Ainz vs Foresight, but reversed.

>MC is the baddest of bad asses and has skill and power no one else can match save for maybe his arch rival turned begrudging friend

>Has large group of friends around him that he helps constantly and trains with each helping each other.

>MC is last one left standing after all of his friends fight the big bads super group

>MC holds his own against the big bad

>Big bad revealse that this isn't his final form.

>Proceeds to defeat the hero who's giving it all he's got.

>Friends who're back on their feet watching the battle say they believe in him

>MC fights even harder. but is losing ground.

>Weakling best friends jumps into the battle and attacks the villian

>Villian is dazed by the attack

>Bewildered hero looks at his best bro and smiles

>What good are friends who won't stand beside you when you need us most.

>MC smiles and wipes a tear from his eye.

>The villian, enraged, stands up to attack but is quickly met with a massive combined attack from two members of the MCs group.

Saitama doesn't do anything like that.

Who I'm talking about does it maliciously.

>Really likable side character hijacks the story by becoming the Narrator as well as villain and kidnaps his 'daughter' and basically just goes fucking insane while ruining the relationships and lives of every character you grew to like, becoming the ultimate fucking douchebag.

>MC is funny guy

>goes from funny arcs to really badass serious arcs, with funny moments
>back to funny arcs

gintaman?

Close enough, user

Alright, sounded a bit like Saitama and the meteor scene aftermath through the onlooker's eyes; still it sounds nothing like what my post was referring to though.

Forgot to add to that early episode where Saitama punched that giant guy and he fell on the city and destroyed it.

This is awfully specific, please tell me what you’re referring to. Anyway, here’s a trope that feels more satisfying than sex.
>Hero slowly gathers a group of friends around him, getting to know each of them personally
>He knows that they are capable of defending themselves and they work together as equals, defeating minor villains
>In the big boss fight, his closest allies are injured despite their strength
>MC becomes overprotective badass who slays his enemies in one shot thanks to the power of pure rage, only so he can rush to his friends’ side and make sure they’re alright
