Is there anything worth watching in this series past the Shishio arc? Been marathoning it the past few days from nostalgia and just finished that arc but I've not seen much other than scattered episodes through the rest of the series. Is it even worth finishing the series after the Shishio arc or watching any of the movies or OVAs? Just from what I've seen after episode 60 or so there really isn't any more build up to anything more
Watch the remembrance ovas and be done with it. The rest is shit

After the Shishio arc the rest of the episodes are anime original. I remember some of them not being too bad. You have to read the manga if you want the rest of the story. The OVAs are liked by a lot of people and I think one or a couple of them have aspects of the unanimated last arc from the manga.

No

I knew that shit smelled like filler

Watch the Trust and Betrayal OVA. It's really good and is only 4 episodes long, so the most you lose is 2 hours of your time. Don't bother with any of the anime after the Shishio arc. The rest of the show is filler and is absolute horseshit the more it goes on. If you want a continuation read the manga.

Why does he use a backwards sword if he doesn't want to kill people he could just not use any sword?

Back on the old days I personally stopped after the Shimabara arc and went to the manga. It wouldnt be until 2009 when I watched the rest of the anime originals
Grayson Murphy
Great taste.

I watched the anime on Toonami all the way through as well as bought a bootleg DVD release (wish I still had it) before getting the official DVDs. But I was reading the manga since it started being released by Viz in the US.
Julian Phillips
How would he beat people up then?

No, outside the Trust & Betrayal OVA.

No. I’m telling you as someone who stubbornly watched all 90+ episodes

It was physically mpossible to watch the anime past shishio arc.
However, I would continue to enjoy the series in the following order: 0. Optional, watch the [animated] movie. Nice but forgettable, unrelated to anything anywhere in the series. Some like more, some like less 1. Watch trust and betrayal ova (tsuiokuhen). A more serious take on the series and very well animated plus godly OST. 2. Read the manga until the end. If you wish to skip most of the content already covered in the anime, do so, but I found the art style of the manga enjoyable enough to read everything all over again. After shishio arc, the manga will have the enishi arc, which contains the story depicted in Trust and Betrayal. The Ova did a much better job than the manga for this part of the story, but it is worth reading because it is quite different and links to the end of enishi arc and of the manga. 3. Watch the seisouhen OVA. Will cover the beginning of the enishi arc and its end, leading to an arguably alternative end to the series. Great animation, but not as majestic as Tsuiokuhen imho. 4. Whatever else is optional and I feel like it only degraded the series. Live action movies and hokkaido arc etc. Read/watch if still hyped

thanks, I might just look up the manga chapters around where shishio vs kenshin is happening, got any idea what chapter I should for?
>smack someone with the back of the sword >they get internal bleeding and die WHOOPS
Ethan Gray
The only episodes worth watching post Shishio are two gag episodes. The one with the painter who sees Kaoru as inspiration and the one where Kaoru wants Kensin to propose to her
Wyatt Smith
>big build-up to shishio being the best fight in the series >the better fight already happened
I'm glad the authorities were able to recognize he was a man of taste and allow him to keep writing.

Not that user, but the Shishio battle ends at Volume 17 Chapter 145. The next and final arc starts at Volume 18 Chapter 149 just as Kenshin and co. are about to return to Tokyo.
