TTGL had fucking wondrous music.
It's hard not to cry when listening to this, also good taste OP.

Feelings of longing, nostalgia and slight happiness.
They struck a great a balance between emotional/badass, even the series antagonists have great themes.

I will never forget the entire Wolf's Rain soundtrack.

Code Geass had great OST

what ever happened to steve conte? Him with maaya sakamoto and yoko kanno was a godly combination

I really gotta get around to rewatching Wolf's Rain. It's been at least 10 years since I've seen it and I remember not liking it much at the time, but the past couple years, whenever it gets mentioned I feel like I should give it a chance, maybe I'll appreciate it more now that I've gotten older.
He released a single last year. youtube.com
I like my OST's to all sound exactly the same so Hiroyuki Sawano doing 80% of all action sci-fi anime soundtracks every year.
Oh wait that's just reality now. In all seriousness though anime soundtrack discussion has been a waste of time to me for years frankly. All anybody generally talks about anymore on average is Yuki Kajiura and Hiroyuki Sawano , who by the way are clearly being told by producers to just push one particular popular style for everything now. Either them or whatever other artist Sony Music Japan tells people it's okay to like. It's become one dimensional as all fuck so it's nice to see a soundtrack thread start off with links with literally anything by anyone else.
Personally I'm kind of fond of Kohei Tanaka again of late who has a minor shot at breaking back through Sony Music's stranglehold on popular anime composers again with some upcoming big projects like Gunbuster and Shin Sakura Taisen, the latter albeit being a video game. I also kind of wonder what happened to Yoko Kanno these days but I guess she just doesn't fit into the production committee hegemony of what the powers that be like to promote anymore. It's also possible she just got so big that she's just kind of outgrown the need for the anime industry to make a living and is just kind of doing her own contract by contract based stuff in which case good for her for escaping from the anime industries of late kind of creativity killing black hole.
Anyway:

Mainly I just like composers who do a lot of at least pleasant to listen to music that fits well with and brings up positive or vivid memories of the things they are meant to be associated with and showcases some degree of variety.
I feel you regarding the whole tiring samey anime soundtracks. I'm sick of Sawano and want him to stay far away from anime I care about. I wish anime could get composers like ACE and Keiichi Okabe these days.
faggots
KLK ost
"Dear You" from Higurashi, all versions.
>Make a series that is clearly better than another series that tired to do a similar concept in the past
>Fags from the forgotten anime seethe forever
kek
FMA:B has an incredible OST
I cant take off this one from my brain
I barely remember anything from shaman king, but the OP has firmly lodged itself into my brain forever.
>forgotten
only an american can be this ignorant or you're just a newfag. either way, go kill yourself.
At least Thunderbolt Fantasy was a great Sawano OST.
Luckyshit out
It's actually dumber because the only truly transcendental parts of the Getter franchise are the original Nagai manga and the Go manga. Of the endless anime adaptations, only 2 aren't sub-episode 4 of TTGL-tier.
you get out, summerfag. fuck off to tumblr with the rest of your faggot ttgl fanbase
Stay mad
I feel a similar way. Kajiura and Sawano are nice, but they don't have much variety. To be fair, we have some new recent variety in music this year from Mob Psycho, and Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū. On the other hand, even other epic music composers like Yasuharu Takanashi and Suehiro Kenichirō have their own unique styles.
There are a lot so I will only post the most unique/unusual OST's I like.
Best Techno I've heard in Anime:

Best use of Kazoo's I've heard:

Creepiest theme:

Best use of church organs:

Most Edgelord Sounding Song (Don't get me wrong, it is fun though):

Yoko Kanno has such emotional range.
It has a solid OST, but none of its songs really stand out that much, and a lot of them follow a similar melody. FMA's bratja is a far better song than any individual one in FMA:B.
>posting the virgin version instead of the CHAD version

This shit right here. Yeah it's plagiarized, but it still rules.

>Kajiura and Sawano are nice, but they don't have much variety.
Not sure on Sawano, but Kajiura has shown a lot more range in her non anime stuff, and when she works with studios that are not Ufotable and A-1.
Made in Abyss OST.
Yeah, there are some songs in Fate Zero you can tell she had some fun with as well. She is probably pressured to recycle some epic music in order to meet deadlines, but can produce nice original tracks.

Madoka Majica also had a unique track:

It had more, but Sis puella magica isn't one of them.

This brings back memories I did not want to revisit
For me, the InuYasha OST has left an impact that has lasted long after my viewing of the series during the 2000s, probably the most of anime soundtracks. I still listen to the music, sometimes, and think of the series and aspects of my life that went on while the series was still very popular.
Yeah, Inuyasha has an underrated and catchy high quality soundtrack.
I like Kaoru Wada’s other soundtracks, as well. Here is one that gets very close to the sounds of his dramatic InuYasha pieces, from Casshern Sins.
dante theme from fma is also very hunting both version
Without a close second, Cowboy Bebop. Nearly every single song on the OST evokes a deep feeling of nostalgia in me.
There are of course select songs from other soundtracks that I enjoy, but as someone that doesn't generally like to listen to entire CDs worth of music, Cowboy Bebop could be played for weeks in a row in the background and I wouldn't get sick of it.
Love this
Sounds kind of like music they'd play at a mall in asia though.

>tfw will never be as cool or powerful as big fire
I still remember watching the original FMA finale on adult swim when I was a freshman in highschool, it was my first anime and my jaw was on the fucking floor.
A nice rendition, but this one is just a classical piece (Tristesse by Chopin), and one used in many movies and shows like Futurama for example.
this will never leave my memory, ever

I still fall asleep to the Haibane OST two years after I watched it.

Solo Camp Recommendation is just pure comfy.
First part of Lake Motosu is serene while the last part always gives me the chills.
The main theme is very relaxing and uplifting.
Lake Shibire feels very Venetian and I love it.

Great taste user, you've introduced to me some fantastic new music. I just love the score for Made In Abyss; there is something tribal and raw about it that connects with me. I wish there was a genre that covered that specifically. As a side note, while I was listening to Hanezeve Caradhina, I noticed that several of the MiA songs have an odd scratching sound like that at 1:46. Is that a particular instrument, or a sound effect?
fuck me this is great
A lot of late nights as a kid watching this on adult swim.
youtube.com
Thanks. I really liked the MiA soundtrack as well.
I can't find it. It sounds like a wind instrument of some kind. Here's a link to a live performance montage. If you can figure out what instrument that is, kudos to you.
youtube.com
Thank you for the link! It's fascinating to see the process and real musicians. I like your theory that it's a wind instrument, but I'm afraid I can't tell either. It also vaguely reminds me of someone dragging their bow too hard on some sort of stringed instrument.
Good taste. How did I not remember this song after watching it :/
smart men you are
TTGL
DiTF is most recent
Slayers
Dragonball Japanese only none of that shitty fulcnor keyboard

This OST made me discover an amazing artist with a long and varied discography ranging from early 70's progressive rock to orchestral techno, going through new wave, zolo and post-punk.
>FMAfags even here
Everywhere I go. Just fuck off already with that dead forgotten series.
>watching dub
>first anime
yikes.
Dully noted, now back to your complaining thread.
>tfw anime will never be this good again

You newfags and underages have no taste due to your underexposure.

"Get along" and "give a reason"
Megumin Hayashibara is over powered as fuck she needs to be nerfed so younger voice actresses can have a chance
I also really like watching the vidoes of military bands playing zankoku
This right here.
This is the shit.
I was lucky to find this show, which is all about finding friendship in the strangest of people, during a time when I had no friends of my own. Still get kind of emotional whenever I hear these.

Can't say it has marked me forever, but I will post some of my recent favorites.
This one is relatively unknown and has been stuck on my mind for some time. It's a variation on Raichmaninoff's motif. If you don't have time, at least listen from 15:05 until it reaches its climax at 16:30 and onwards.

I usually don't like solo vocals and lyrics, but these might be exceptions.
