Given that Sarada was born outside the village, and that there are no pictures of Sasuke and Sakura together before the Gaiden - much less wedding pictures - it's clear they got together outside the village. So Sakura telling Saskura her feelings until he gave in would be consistent with with that.

Granted this wasn't written by Kishi, but most post series material wasn't either.

I don't know. I dropped it a long time ago and never payed much attention to the OP/EDs anyways. In any case though, we know that Sasuke left the village before Sarada was old enough to remember him, and avoiding coming to the village after that. That doesn't exactly jive with being convinced he deserved love and doesn't need keep punishing himself. He also doesn't have as much work as Naruto has, as he doesn't have all the paperwork and meetings Naruto has to deal with. He's also close enough to the village often enough that he and Naruto have a preset meeting point to discuss things. So there really isn't a reason that Sasuke couldn't come home for a few days a year.
