I get that but it's the Nip sales that matter the most as far as I'm aware. I guess in cases where gaijin sales are really strong they could a series going even if it's not as popular in Nipland. BC is still above 200k per volume which makes it one of Jump's more successful series but if you look at the sales of the recent volumes it seems to have stopped growing the way it has been for the past few years, which is a bit concerning. My guess is that it's arc fatigue and people want to see something a bit different. Maybe the much memed ballroom dancing arc is finally needed.

Sure, but there's more to it than just the individual series. Jump as a magazine is catered towards Japan, which means that even if some series in it were selling well abroad their sales wouldn't necessarily be worth it to compromise the magazine as a whole for the majority of its readers. I suppose those kinds of series might just be worth moving to a different magazine to get the best of both worlds. I'm not sure if there are currently any that are aimed at foreigners but with the increasing amount of sales in China I could definitely see something like that happening, especially on the digital front. Not that BC is really in any danger of that at least for the foreseeable future.

For example I'm still upset that Tabata introduced the 10 Apostles only to give elf-Kaiser half a chapter of focus while ignoring the last Apostle entirely. I'd also like to see if this new phoenix Fana has any offensive magic but Tabata hasn't been delivering on that front either. Perhaps when Nozel goes to meet up with the Vermilions.

I can't say if this is indicative of the whole series, but I had to stop watching for one reason. The Japanese VA for the main character sounds and screeches like a horrible beast from hell that is on acid and being killed in a blender slowly.

It's kind of odd how the majin has such a distinct design and a very important role in the setting but the fight itself is fairly short. I wouldn't be surprised if another one of those were to show up later on for Asta and/or Yuno to defeat to show that they've surpassed Lumiere.

Also if the magic tool was destroyed while absorbing the majin's mana, there a chance that mana could still be stored within the pieces. Perhaps some of that stuff ended up in one of the other kingdoms. Spade is isolated enough to worship demons in peace while Heart has the wealth to invest in magic tool research.

I've seen other anons post about it too and they seem to be the ones that want it to be Spade. Personally I think Heart would probably be more suited for that since the land was said to be wealthy. Overall I just expect each of the kingdoms to have their own niche of sorts which has already happened to some extent with the geography. Diamond is barren and has a lot of hills which is why they're focused on mining, Heart is warm and has a lot of plants and water, Spade is foggy and cold and fairly isolated and Clover is kind of in the middle so it can be used as a point of comparison. Diamond's unique thing are the human experiments they performed using the magic stones, which probably came from all the mines they have. I'm expecting Heart and Spade to also have something similar where their unique situation lead to them discovering some kind of distinct magical phenomena. I think that kind of stuff is cool and also good for worldbuilding.

it is stagnating- every metric for tank sales. Stagnating in ~200k area is fine though, middling sales certainly worked fine for a lot of series that ran for-fucking-ever. You want to see a disaster see Souma. You want to see sales not in line with ToC, see Dr. Push which is going to get outsold by Act-Age here in a volume or so.

It was also mentioned that Ladros has a limit to how much magic he can absorb and a single fire ball from Salamander almost killed him. He would lose against most of Clover's captains in a duel.

Patri, Droite and Reve were still outside in the following chapters so he went in even before most of the Apostles had a chance to, which lead to some of them being defeated. I only looked up Jaimini's translation but in that one he says that the Apostles are the only ones who can open it, not enter it. If he wasn't supposed to have entered then that could be evidence of him having been possessed by the devil at the time.

I mean Wevil stated that even with Licht's body he wouldn't have been able to deal with Lumiere, so I doubt he can take on Lumiere, Sekre, Licht, Asta, Yuno, Patri, Yami and Charla at the same time even with his new sausage grimoire. I don't particularly care about what happens to Wevil, but I think the devils or demons themselves should become more prominent. Now that the Midnight Sun is out we need new antagonists that aren't just villains of the week and it seems to me the devils with their manipulative nature and connection to the grimoires are the best candidate. If there was only one of them then it could just be some anomaly but we already know there are at least 2 right now and more have existed in the past so it would be odd if more didn't show up.

Diamond is likely going to be the next arc but the bad guys there almost certainly aren't going to stick around after the arc is finished. In contrast the Midnight Sun were prominent in over half of the arcs up to the current one. That's the difference between a villain of the week and more overarching villains. The devils are the kind of villains that could easily influence multiple different future arcs.

How can you call arc villains, villains of the week? Heath was a villain of the week type thing. Not the Shining Generals.

The way I see it a villain of the week is a villain that just shows up the oppose the good guys without having any impact in anything beyond that conflict. Heath is a good example of a villain of the week because he was only the bad guy in a single small arc, but the Midnight Sun as a whole are overarching villains since they kept working towards their goal of collecting the magic stones over the course of multiple arcs. The Diamond generals are not the type of enemies that just stick around for a long time, which is why both of the ones that have appeared so far were converted into allies after that arc was done. Wevil and the devils have potential to present a more substantial threat that can't be resolved by beating them up once and their nature also allows for them to appear in multiple distinct settings, including entirely different kingdoms.

While I agree the Shining Generals won't be around after the Diamond Saga ends, I don't think you're giving Tabata enough credit. Just like EMS, the SG will be taking over their role because Diamond won't just be one arc, it's a whole country.

I disagree. You look at Clover getting a large 200 chapter saga so you conclude that the other kingdoms must get the same treatment. The issue is that Clover is central to the setting while the other kingdoms are not. Clover is where Asta and Yuno's grew up, where their goal of the magic emperor is, where Asta's grimoire came from, where Yuno's parents were from and where most of the other prominent characters like Noelle and Yami are connected to. You can't connect the main characters and their motivations to all of the other kingdoms like that without some absurd levels of asspulls. It's like the leaf village in Naruto compared to the other villages. They have similar importance in-universe but one is overwhelmingly more important in terms of the narrative. At best Diamond might have a couple of smaller buildup arcs to set up the bigger conflict and maybe introduce the dwarfs or something, but even then I would be very surprised if the Diamond segment of the story took more than a year's worth of chapters to explore.

The issue with these threads is that they used to and still do attract a fair bit of shitposting, which detracts from the actual discussion. It has also resulted in some anons becoming very defensive to the point that completely harmless posts get accused of being Jimbo shitposts which then just branches out into more and more off-topic nonsense. Ideally people would just ignore the shitposts but some anons just can't resist responding to it every single time.

Licht's unborn(?) son, which might be why he wasn't possessed by the elf's soul. It could also have something to do with the influence of the magic stones since they were on Tetia's belly in one panel I think.
