Negi actually did an okay job for it. I can why it gets hate because of bullshits. Everything played out perfectly with Miku with the help of her sisters. Going forward with the story after that is pretty difficult. I hope we don't have to crucify Negi.

She just wanted to give him the bread on the first day. What made everything worse is how Ichika got dragged her into her own mess, how her feelings got out, heck, I would say Fuuts knowing about how she feels towards him just also got put there to make it seem like Ichika didn't do much damage.
So the easily solution is proceeding without getting hindered. Give Fuuts the bread, tell him how hard she practiced, why did she practiced,and confess.

Yes. Miku was almost absent in Volume 9 just to make that bread. So Ichika making that stupid lie was just another unnecessary way for Negi to create 13 drama to hinder Miku. 3 days trip, she wante to give him the bread the first day. There was no need for this shitstorm after their sauna talk in 68.
