One of the big criticisms of battle shonen manga's is that women don't fight or get enough relevance but is that even a fair expectation.
A mangaka can't really have a girl fight like he does any of the male characters. If he has her get her head knocked off, brutalized or humiliated, hes gonna get a ton of shit for it. Toriyama got away with this cause it was in the 90's. This chapter wouldn't even be allowed by jump in 2019.
For example: Vegeta and Yamcha are consistently humilated and brutalized throughout the series, if that were a chick in their places, the criticism and outcry would be massive and cause issues for the mangaka, your thoughs?
Just don't read shounen if you want to see girls fight.
Adrian Lopez
Many shonen mangaka can't write compelling women. Videl getting brutalized is unusual because of how relatively low the stakes are in the context of the rest of the series, and how she isn't given the chance to take advantage. The overall lack of female combatants remains a notable issue, which is even further compounded with GT's inclusion and subsequent mistreatment of Pan, who is forced into situations she can't succeed in.
Cameron Cooper
They’re targeted towards males, why should females be able to fight?
Alexander Stewart
Yes because there are multiple male fighters you can have some get dunked on but because there's literally one female fighter and she gets humiliated it speaks to a problem
Jace Thompson
Because as a guy I'd like to see female characters that are as competent and interesting as the male ones?
It's just funner.
Carter Rivera
KlK is essentially a battle shounen series and Ryuuko could take a hell of a beatdown and still keep slugging it out. As could Satsuki. It's not that it can't be done, people just don't bother. Probably because it runs contrary to the golden rule of self insert
Brayden Green
Yeah a lot of it is just laziness. The authors and/or editors think that boy readers can't relate to girl characters so they sideline them.
Lucas Nelson
>why should females be able to fight? Because it's awesome, interesting and entertaining for everyone.
Eli Richardson
Every one of the old Big Three had women fighting. Boku no Hero Academia has several female combatants. The main fighter in Dr. Stone is a woman.
The criticism comes from shonen bitches being useless, even if they're presented as competent fighters. Brutalization isn't a problem as long as you're not meant to jack off to it.
Andrew Sullivan
Can we get some more pics of women losing fights, please?
>One of the big criticisms of battle shonen manga's is that women don't fight or get enough relevance where? in your cuckcircle?
Ayden Myers
It’s because the authors are more interested in the relationship the boys have with eachother and they don’t really give a fuck about girly stuff as they find that shit boring. Black Clover is an exception because the mangaka wants to bring the girls into valuable relationships with eachother and the boys while giving no fucks about girly shit. You can even see that mangaka’s mindset when he draws Ochako with an actual personality with the cost of her femininity.
I wish there were more female fighters actual fighters, not mages or something. I like tough girls

Watch chainsaw man so this next week
Nolan Reyes
>criticism Yeah, by the same people who ruined comic books and still don't buy or read them. Nobody cares what feminists think.
Anthony Turner
Isn’t MLP doing anything next week? Shop hockey masks on all the ponies and the shows politics make 220% more sense. “ hands on approaches are the Worst Possible Thing”
Jackson Brooks
>Nobody cares what feminists think. Well nobody cares what you think either incel.
Nathaniel Ramirez
My unique tastes love a woman who are strong willed and can put up a fight. They wouldn't have to win, but at least try earnestly. I find it attractive.
Jeremiah Hernandez
Is there any battle anime with a female MC that doesn't have fan service? One where the MC being a girl is completely incidental.
Juan Collins
>incel
Lucas Rogers
What are you talking about? Japan authors arent bound by american social media
Juan Roberts
>fight >clothes doesn't get realistically torn off mid battle
Nathan Perry
the japanese dont. infact not even japanese feminists are like that. They have common sense.
Easton Wright
I havent read her series but Modaka Box or however you spell her name? She is a shonen jump title
I liked how they had heavily sexualized designs, but it got you to root for the characters as individuals. For all its flaws, that was quite an experience.
Nathaniel Smith
Womens are genetically not fit for fighting. It can work in fiction since there are supernatural elements and even IRL there are women stronger than men of the same age, but no women shouldn't be a major point of criticism.
Robert Gomez

>One of the big criticisms of battle shonen manga's is that women don't fight or get enough relevance but is that even a fair expectation I only heard that criticism from Naruto because Kishi writing and Dragon ball because Videl became less tomboy in super.
In other battle shonen, people only bitch because their waifu are a jobber(in the same way people bitch at Naruto/Erza no matter is a woman or a man).
Anthony Robinson
Kongou Banchou had some good female fights and also some instances of females getting BTFO and that wasn't too long ago.
Owen Perez
>You can even see that mangaka’s mindset when he draws Ochako with an actual personality with the cost of her femininity. >Draws her in the boobs and butt pose with a broken spine while giving her the ugly sameface Tabata always draws Yeah right. BC has competent females but it's a standard shounen, the most prominent females are around to be love interests and/or sexualised.
Camden Gonzalez
Most of the Jump battle shonen in this decade have competent females tho.
