Although my skill with Japanese language improved a lot since I started working on this series, my English is still subpar.

Why did they reward saikawa?

The first book was fine, I guess, if you can overlook that it was literally Star Wars with the characters replaced by Lord of the Rings arche types.
But then it really drops off the deep end. Really shitty Mary Sue story that is badly written and badly thought out, pumped full with the most generic cliches you could think off. The ending is basically a deus ex machina, the big dragon of the emperor is killed off-screen whiel Eragon just happens to remember the magic cheat code word that makes you omnipotent (this is not an exaggeration). Then he casts a spell on the emperor that makes him feel all the suffering he has caused in the last 100 years, and the emperor kills himself out of grief or whatever.
It has some nice parts, like the story of how Eragon's brother, who is just an ordinary guy, works his way through the country to save his life and that of his village, and the magic system in general is pretty sound (especially the description of mental influence is kinda cool), but other than that it is just really generic by the numbers fantasy. (Because, guess what, it was written by a 15 year old who was pushed by his publisher parents to write a book, so he just copied all the stuff he liked and put it in a novel series he did not realyl plan out.)

Even though the story doesn't show her actively recommending books for the unnamed girls, that might be the case. She did show excitement about that.
