It just makes no sense in the continuity of the series.
And then there's the issue that Masao is not "transgendered" - and if he was, it'd be the other way around and he'd not be a "transgendered boy" but a "transgendered girl". So that part doesn't make any sense internally either.

She did. But she still enjoyed the classical upbringing of an oiran. To this day, geisha/maiko are educated in traditional arts like music, drawing and caligraphy.

No. I wasn't implying that. But the average person's handwriting doesn't look tidy and regular. That's the same in Japanese.
And it's not related to intellect either. If anything, it's a reversely proportional relation: Doctors and artists are sterotypically thought to have the messiest handwriting of all.
