The irrelevance of FLCL's plot is actually brilliant.
The story is told mainly from Naota's perspective. Ultimately, it's about him growing and accepting himself to eventually grow into maturity. Everything that happens around him is just an excuse to tell that story. While the stuff with Atomsk and Medical Mechanica is important in its own right, in the end it only exists to serve Naota's story. That's because he's still just a kid. He doesn't really understand all the bigger picture political stuff, he's concerned only with everything around him as its happening, because that's his whole world.
I've always thought of FLCL as a sort of anomaly in this case. Are there any other series that treat the plot in a similar way?
flcl is bad though. you should watch more anime flcl is one of those anime beginners watch and think is GOLD but its not
Anthony Torres
What's bad about it? If you say the plot then please read above
Daniel Harris
>Are there any other series that treat the plot in a similar way? That penguin /ss/ movie from last year FLCL is alright but I like a bunch of other coming-of-age anime better
Ayden Mitchell
>secret in disguise rec thread get the fuck
Thomas Young
Are you retarded?
Nicholas Walker
Different user but yeah , this thread reeks rec thread. >can you tell me something similar yadayada
Robert Miller
You asking if there any series similar with same tone. So you asking for rec
Hunter Jackson
Not that user but I wasn't really asking for recs, just curious if any other series did something similar. Sorry if you thought I was asking for recs
Chase Foster
You're right, I'm the retard here. I didn't read the last sentence. Not OP
Jacob Nelson

Wyatt Barnes
You can ask that same question in Now, case closed
>Are there any other series that treat the plot in a similar way? Boku no Pico. Now stop posting until you've seen at least 200 shows.
Luis Parker
So you've got nothing.
Colton Smith

>The irrelevance of FLCL's plot is actually brilliant. >The irrelevance of ... plot
What the fuck do you think plot is other than the story they're trying to tell?
Cameron Hernandez
That can't be your answer to everything you don't know how to extemporize on. You ought to mix it up somewhat.
Though with the rec nature of the thread clearer to me know, don't bother in this one.
Adrian Long
>ive seen 10 anime and flcl is so cool and like the best
>yikes The mystery as to why you couldn't put into words your critique of FLCL beyond the unsupported flat statement that it is not good is hereby solved.
Zachary Hughes
when youve seen more than 300 anime series than come back oof
While the plot is arguably more important than in FLCL, Eureka Seven does the same thing where we are put into the main characters shoes and the story is structured in a way that makes you just go with the flow at first without understanding what is going on and where everything is headed. Typical coming of age stuff but I haven't seen it structured in such a first-hand way outside of these two.
Jordan Jenkins
Also lending a weight of evidence to the earlier arrived at conclusion drawn from the 'yikes' is the fact that your reaction pictures, meant to imply a deep and thorough familiarity with the anime industry that spoke for themselves, all have the automatically-applied Yea Forums filename convention of unix timestamping that dates them to as early as August 16th, 2018.
Jace Diaz
you are getting trolled hard crybaby-kun .maybe instead of posting you should watch more anime my dude
Literally rewatched it yesterday and had chills the entire time.
Brayden Jones

Dennou Coil The story seems dramatic at first but if you think about it is just children's play and higly irrelevant. It's just how dramatic and important the whole thing is for children.
Christopher Scott

you newguys need to watch more anime
Liam Campbell
>and had chills the entire time pretty gay, maybe up your standards
Woah guys check out this analytical genius, seriously bro you should start making YouTube videos you’re insight is just astonishing
Nathaniel Hill
OP isn't very smart which we have already established desu
Jonathan James
To be fair I think OP wanted to preach it to the plotfags and made a rec thread by accident.
Jack Stewart
Yeah, that's what I was suggesting. What OP didn't realize though is that trying to change someone's mind on r/a/nime is impossible
Carson Bailey
Noein, in a way. It's not as kid-centric though
Jonathan White
That's by no means unique, which is why the other user was telling you to watch more anime. Don't get me wrong, it's well executed, but praising FLCL as the greatest thing since sliced bread is the result of nostalgia, inexperience or both.
Joseph Hill
>That's by no means unique >which is why the other user was telling you to watch more anime.
No shit. OP even ask for recommendation on anime with similar premise and you managed to miss that.
