I've always wondered how an anime generals board would work out, considering people still talk regularly about anime that aired 1-10 years ago almost like a general. Likely never going to happen since people(or just that one guy) have also continued pushing /ma/ and yet nothing has changed. Thoughts?

I'd also like to mention that chapter updates and general discussion about ongoing manga and anime would still go on Yea Forums since it wouldn't be a general but more of a "hey check this our" sort of deal

Yea Forums and /vg/, those are the only two examples you need to know that the idea is terrible.

I can see that, but there's also ZLS threads still up even though the anime ended last/or two seasons ago. Not to mention many others.

Imagine /vg/ but sightly [less?] horrible. there are already sort of de facto generals on Yea Forums and the quality depends on the fanbase of the series and how recent their thing updated. The OPM threads are just circular arguments about powerwanking, the S2 animation, the manga vs. the webcomic, and whether or not One and Murata are faggots. The Dragonball threads are entirely shitposting.

I can see where you're coming from, but maybe some of the more "hidden gems" of anime would be better shown if it weren't for ones like JoJo's with 3 threads at a time blowing them off of page 10.
My only concern is for it to end up like /vg/ like mentioned

/ag/ would probably make nu-Yea Forums a lot more tolerable to browse. The 30-something general threads you see here on a daily basis are all fucking terrible and all essentially devolve into the same 20 people circlejerking for 12 hours until the thread either gets deleted or hits the bump limit.

Yea Forums is too small to have a dedicated general board. /vg/ is pretty fucking dead as it is

i find it funny how Yea Forums is somehow more dead than /vg/, but it makes a lot of sense when you consider how much slower this board's gotten

Vidya's way more mainstream than anime, especially the niche anime that gets popular on Yea Forums.

The "hidden gems" wouldn't survive on a general either.
/vg/ has a smash general and Yea Forums still gets flooded in smash threads every day. Containment boards don't work if mods don't try to contain the shit in them. That's why /mlp/ was so effective, because the GR15 forced mods to do their job.

Yea Forums isn't even half as fast /vg/ let alone Yea Forums. It doesn't need a separate general board when it already has so many fucking offshoot boards for it.

This idea is perpetually dumb. I'd rather get /jp/ merged back with us than have to see a new general board pop up.

Videogames and anime are consumed differently and provided differently.
They are discussed differently too.
/ag/ would leave two slow mediocre boards.
There are also already MANY division boards for anime
And even though there's some co/vg crossover these boards are also mostly anime and manga:
