That was the bare minimum for wasting 4 chapters on her. Her relationship with Nariyuki remained the same, the fake boyfriends thing wasn't even addressed, much less resolved, and nothing about her story changed. At least Fumino made advances with her father and got closer to Nariyuki, and Mafuyu also made up with her parents and got even closer to Nariyuki, not to mention her past struggles that were resolved as well. It's why despite Fumino's arc having atrocious writing, I rank it above senpai's arc.

Why can't Tsutsui write decent drama? Actually write anything decently? He failed to keep the expectations on Fumino's arc especially on how Reiji was depicted to be vs how he turned out to be. Also in the end their issue was all because father and daughter were two autists incapable of resolving a family argument like 90% of the human population. Resolved by an unlikely convenient asspull.
Sensei's arc and her evolution as that frigid, cold character was all due to her failing one time in her life and be traumatized by it. Then Hino conveniently shows up to show her she didn't actually fail and dreams won yet again. So it was still all about a character thinking something was wrong while actually nothing ever was.
Senpai's arc stems entirely on a non-issue. Seriously, the problem here is that she fucking wants to be a doctor to have the clinic be full of happy patients, but if it's not that very clinic, like specifically the literal physical place called the Kominami clinic at that point in time, then that's not good for her and she needs to be pointed out that if she reopens a fucking clinic anywhere else she can do the literal same thing. For fuck sake she can reopen the same clinic. And not a word on her real fucking issues like the Nisekoi or the Anxiety issue that failed the first medicine entrance exam.
To be fair Tsutsui is good at putting cheesy cute moments in this arc (the grass field, the ice rink, Asumi's sadness and the cheek kiss) but the whole thing that should be underneath, the scaffolding, it fucking crumbles. Therefore all these arcs suck.

The "scaffolding" behind Sensei's breakdown is reasonable because she has literally no moral support from anyone. She betrayed her parents who are pretty much her only point of contact with anyone at all, aside from her sister, who she doesnt really talk to or confide much with anything. Due to her upbringing in a competitive and toxic environment she was only seeing other people as competitors out to get her so she wouldn't be able to confide in them. Her one chance at getting a true friend who she could count on was shot down by something she couldn't have helped. Without anyone to talk about her plights, and with Moedad dying her traumatizing thoughts only rebounded and echoed inside herself until she decided to use it as the foundation of her work, that talent is king. With her being pretty much shouted out of the house, she felt that she failed the figure skating side of herself so she wanted to focus on the bright side in that she could try and become a teacher like Moedad and experience something else. This of course failed when she knew that not just blind encouragement was enough, and it reflects on her because just blind encouragement from her teacher wasnt going to be enough to magically make her into a good teacher. The story does no small job at making her look autistic with how she handles other people, so when she Hino eventually forgives her it gives small reinforcement to the voice inside her that says maybe she wasn't wrong, that maybe she could try again. Hino also doesn't "conveniently" show up, because Nariyuki spends a lot of time and effort trying to find her based on a story sensei told and even then he only managed to get her into a video call.

Additionally, I think she's slowly realizing that just like his dad, Nariyuki is someone she could rely on. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as she says. Its not like her inability to understand people have caused her any troubles in the past anyway given the information that we have, and there wasn't any plot foreshadowing for her as well.

To be fair, sensei's arc didn't have that at all. True, she had a rocky relationship with her parents but that was mostly one-sided from herself, since she believed she failed betrayed their expectations.
Her arc wasn't centered around her family problems but actually just focused on her. Her family issues were just "there" but it was up to sensei alone to solve that, which is what she started doing at the end of her arc.
