How is Anime going mainstream bad?

I don't think there is any better way to flex your sperg powers than thinking anime going mainstream is a bad thing.

the more people that get involved with a hobby subculture, the worse the quality of that culture gets, until eventually it is a bloated and unrecognizable filth compared to how it started

Just look at the last 13 years compared to before that. During this time when anime's been mainstream, all the industry cares about is appealing to normalfags, not making quality art.

It's already corporatized to death in nipland. Mainstream anime in America would invite more corporatization, and that would dilute the media and make the fanbase loathsome.

Exactly. Mainstream exposure is basically a death sentence.

America kills the uniqueness of everything it touches

>Mainstream = Big Money = Corporate greedy fuck jews ruining everything for everyone
Dont get me wrong, the anime industry is already plagued by retarded greedy old japanese fucks, but it can always get worse

Anime is already mainstream so this whole discussion is pointless.

this

if i wanted to share interests with normies, i wouldn't watch anime in the first place

What stage do you think we are in? Personally I think we are somewhere between 4 and 5. Anime may not be a complete mystery to the normalfag but I don't think it has reached dudebro status yet.

stuff like Naruto and DBZ is definitely there. Even niggers watch that shit

It annoys me to no end, that now that I'm not as big into anime/manga as I was, people I grew up with who thought it was exploitative, weird and sappy shit are all gushing over sword art, Titan, Madoka and slime.
Now I look like "That guy who doesn't like anything" to them.

this won't ever happen to anime. Too much garbage SoL and comedy out there, and dudebros like me don't watch that gay shit.

Every season, I just Ctrl+F for the new Shounen, and I see like two or three things at best. Once this ctrl+F is up in the double digits, you can call me. Don't see it happening anytime soon.

Anime has been mainstream for a long time.

Pokemon, Evangelion, DBZ, Naruto, Bleach etc all kicked it off.

Stop having sex, save some for the rest of us.

you’re not a dudebro if you watch anime

Goku is the idol of the dudebro

Netflix will make a shameless cashgrab live-action Neon Jelly Van film and it WILL suck ass.

at least with a black Shinji the daddy issues would make more sense

it's literally not going mainstream tho. If anything it's in decline the optics of being a fan of the genre are getting near furry or brony tier. Similarly the genre is putting more effort toward the most degenerate part of the fanbase which makes mass appeal even less likely.
>muh Eva Netlflix dub
does not mean anime is going mainstream. Naruto, DBZ, Avatar and Pokemon were probably the peak of mass appeal to anime.

>netflix dub
what does this mean? i'm probably not going to watch it again, but I had assumed they would just use the original japanese and english versions.

that's because SoL is a pleb filter for plebs like you.

too lazy to look it up but I heard that they are doing a new dub for the Netflix release. Shitposters were saying Leslie Jones would be Asuka. Last I checked they hadn't even gotten the rights for the soundtrack yet. Could be wrong and I'm going to bed so someone could correct me if they are just using the original. The dub is godawful so I hope for people who can't into reading they just redo it.

>Shitposters were saying Leslie Jones would be Asuka
Well before the new dub was announced people were saying she'd play Asuka in a live action adaptation.

This. Everything will be about the bottom dollar, and there will be no more experimental shows... Everything will become an Isekai

it is. weeb films ranging from normalfag ghibli or shinkaishit to niche franchise sequels are getting screened on the big screen internationally which didn't happen a decade ago. some shows have their premieres internationally before japan. netflix is buying up more and more exclusive content.
