TF happened with ZZ?

How do you go directly from a grim semi-adult space opera to a saturday morning villain of the week, semi-comedy? Does anyone have the low down on wtf happened here? Its a little hard to swallow that this was a fully organic tonal change.

100% pressures from the publishers. It's even more jarring how Victory swiches back and forth between emotionally scarring people and pandering to toddlers.

It's literally a different show, what's the issue with a change in tone? Before Zeta you had 0079 too, that's a ton of episodes

gundam has always been a dumb kids show, tomino is a hack

ZZ keeps its comedy aspect to some extent but it gets more in line with Zeta or 0079 later on.

>saturday morning villain of the week
This is exactly how 0079 and Zeta play out too though. They're more serious but that doesn't change this aspect. And Tomino was specifically required in Zeta to have a mech battle in every episode, which leads to a lot of pointless battles in it.

Tomino gave Sunrise the toy commercial they wanted after getting the green light for CCA.

The first several episodes of of ZZ were fun and way better than the slog that was Zeta.

ZZ's cast is way better than Zeta's overall.

tomino describes the series exactly like that too though

Tomino had temporarily recovered from his depression and thought that Gundam targeted the wrong demographic, so he tried giving it a comedic twist. It doesn't last too long though and quickly falls in line with the rest of the series.

Haman

Until the completely retarded shitshow that was the final arc happens anyway. He had a great thing going in with Dublin but he had to ruin it as soon as they went back to space.

I'm going to find out exactly how much dick it takes to evolve a Puru into a Marida.

Who the hell does that? " You know i think Jaws had too much horror content in it, What it really needed to be was a sassy sitcom!"

>grim semi-adult space opera
0079 is a masterpiece with a fuckton of kino/soul moments but that's it
Zeta doesn't even come near, it's a fucking convoluted trainwreck
ZZ is exactly what Gundam is supposed to be as a toy commercial

Poorly, that's how.

Judau

Tomino hated how popular Z was compared to the original so He decided to fuck is fanbase in ZZ

This one is hard to believe

It's not really a different show though. It's a direct continuation of Zeta right where it left off with a lot of returning characters that don't mesh with the lighter tone.

Tomino is bipolar, mate. ZZ turns into a grisly bloodbath at the end with Dublin getting colony dropped and those comedy characters getting killed, but it just feels weird.

I love the Zeta Gundam, but by the time Kamille has it, his enemies are all running around in mobile armors and running away when things go against them, so he ends up skirmishing with the same losers instead of finishing.
