I liked it a bit better than the original, mostly because the Hououin Kyoma antics were mostly absent. But yeah the endings were all mostly disappointing, bar 'Promised Rinascimento'.

Good concept bad execution desu. Ending feels very lackluster, but I suppose it wasn't exactly a happy story to begin with. That worldline was always doomed to fail and be erased for SG.

And Kurisu handily outclasses them both.

Maho had years to do that, did it all with Daru's help and already had a concept of how it worked.
Kurisu built it from scratch in a week or two with no prior concept of how it worked. Kurisu even came up with the paper that would lead to physical time travel at the age of around 18.

Sure it couldn't have ended happily but they didn't need to do a bullshit "Okabe will Mayuri and Suzuha offscreen" ending. There's ways to do a tragic ending that still feel satisfying.
I honestly don't know why S;G 0 failed so hard at tragedy when C;C came out the year before and did it well.

Actually looking at it, it looks more like exactly one writer might have been the difference. Takimoto Masashi and Hayashi Naotaka are credited for "scenario supervision" in both of them, but Eiji is given "Overall plot (aside from Hana route), detailed plot (common route)" for C;C alongside his writing credit.

Agreed, the tsundere part is overplayed because the show is self-aware about that archetype and the memes that go along with it. If anything I'd just describe both her and Okabe as emotionally or socially awkward.
