It's an incredible series, that got me and many casual anime watchees into the Bakiverse.

The anime is a massive success, it's gained immense popularity, and will definitely get more seasons. Give a year or two, and this series could have jojo levels of popularity. The top fights from this series already have 4-5 millions on them, so the series is definitely becoming mainstream.
This anime has easily doubled the fanbase, so for you to claim that it won't impact the series and the author in a positive way is asinine

The mistake most people make is treating Baki as some kind of shonen battle anime and comparing it to shit like Dragonball. If you think of it as a sports anime with the 'sport' in question being martial arts, then everything makes perfect sense. It's an excuse for Itagaki to convey his love for martial arts in the same way that Akagi is a way for FKMT to convey his love of mahjong

When did Baki's artstyle turn into the muscly shit that the current manga seems to be? I've only seen the 90s OVA but everything else I see about the series looks completely different (outside of maybe the early manga). I was trying to find the OVA a couple years ago from what I remembered of it and kept coming across Baki material that looked nothing like I remembered it being and thought I was on the wrong track.

the anime is kinda lukewarm. The manga however is absolute KINO if you are a fan of fitness/martial arts. The deep diving into the different techiques and philosophies of different fighters is something no other manga pulls of the same way. Baki is also a really fashinating protagonist because he is good and passionate about fighting because of his genes, but at the same time he just wants a loving normal family and the only reason he fight is because of his twisted relationship with his father. The scene in the childhood arc where he just has a mental breakdown because his mother wont hug him is a perfect example of this. Of course netflix niggers have no idea of this side of bakis character.

I fucking wish. This series kinda half asses the artstyle and makes everyone look obese. The OVA from 2016 did a much better job at adapting the manga art and, considering it's the same studio as the Netflix anime, I don't know why they thought it was a good idea to go with the new designs.
