Why are moe slice of life so popular? Isn't really lacking compared to all those other series with more genres?

Escapism is a powerful catalyst. People watch this and go, "I wish high school was that simple for me."
Not that there's anything particularly wrong with that.
Cute girls doing cute things. What's not to like?
I don't know, I find it relaxing. Maybe because I didn't have a lot of friends growing up or something. I remember reading Harry Potter as a kid and enjoying the parts where the characters hang out and do SoL stuff more than the exciting action parts.
This is oddly specific. Are you sure you're not projecting?
School's really boring when you're not reading manga, playing games or talking about them though.
It's funny, the girls are cute, and it relaxes me. Anime doesn't always need to be deep or thrilling.
>Are you sure you're not projecting?
No, I am pretty sure every trannys dream is to live life as a teenage girl.
Harry Potter's good because it has a mix of tension and lightheartedness. There are all sorts of feelings to it and that's what makes it good.
Let me explain something to you.
I work long hours, I have a messy family life that I am constantly on the phone trying to sort out, and over the past decade, the town I live in has been utterly fucking OVERRUN with beaners. Not the assimilated kind, the ones who chirp in their fucking tortilla language at high volumes outside my apartment at 2am because they're mad that manuel decided to puto puto miguel's taco or some shit.
On top of that I'm slowly watching run of the mill normalfags get absorbed into politics they understand nothing about, and it's driven me away from any form of online social media.
So after another blistering day of all of that garbage, I like to soothe my mind with a beer and a few episodes of innocent, pure girls doing innocent, pure things. Because nothing left in the world is good. But these innocent kids are so cute and happy and full of hope that it feels like I'm sinking into a tub filled with fluffy pomeranians.
Now go watch your faggoty little shounen show until your mom tells you it's time for dinner, you genetic misfire.
I know the feeling, as a Brit though. Pakis and Polacks everywhere nowadays and even brits are loud wiggers now. Its nice to put on just some nice, cute shit that ends with the characters becoming better friends or improving themselves or whatever.
god damn
Stop turning this thread into yet more Discord shit when this thread should be about cute CGDCT shows.
Yes it is and if somebody ever tells you they enjoy this crap you can be 100% sure you're talking to somebody miserable that just wants cheap escapism. Or you're talking to a pedo, or both.
Regardless, you're allowed to look down on the person when this happens.
t. grandpa watching Harlock for the 58th time
too long didn't read, but imagine wasting your life writing multiple paragraphs over a shit post I put almost zero thought behind
Clean your room kid.
Doesn't excuse why there has to be hundreds of this same show where the only thing they have going for it is cuteness and relaxation. Why does the industry have to keep pumping them? If you want the relaxation from CGDCT again, why not just rewatch K-on rather than all those cheap copypastes like New Game that pretend to be new shows? They aren't doing anything new, the industry shouldn't need that many CGDCTs.
The article doesn't make any claims regarding biology.
Because after the liberation of dopamine that this kind of anime produce, they begin to like the genre. Maybe for you it looks like the same shit over and over again but for them it is not. When you're not deep into something, everything looks very alien.
It's like explaining to some random normie in the 2000 that anime is not just for children, he won't understand, because he is not into it.
I love Mugi-chan! also fun things are fun
have sex
I don't even remember if I have ever seen moe show before with full female cast. Kyoani comes pretty close. Maybe I thought my "manliess" would suffer if I watched stuff like that
>if you like [genre], why not watch the exact same show on repeat?
I know you haven't seen either and probably don't actually care, but New Game! and K-On! are two very different shows.
K-On! is about starting a new chapter in your life, enjoying it immensely, and then dealing with it abrubtly ending. The characters change greatly over the series and the theme of moving on while taking time to remember the good times is always there.
New Game! is about a struggling character designer and the ups and downs she has making it in a legit competitive industry. People legit were mad at how tense the second season got because Aoba struggles and fails multiple times, to the point where you genuinely feel her frustration.
Tldr; Both are completely different shows from beginning to end. You could find many repetitive shows out there, but neither of those are a good example.
In it's simplicity it's not very easy to pull off. Not all cgdct are equal.
based
Kind of this. It’s relaxing and has zero stress or anything to really remind you of stress. It’s the equivalent of watching puppy videos on YouTube except the puppies are sexy. It isn’t something to binge but an episode a day or even every week in a season is great.
CGDCT is the Seinfield of anime. The best ones already over, but every few years a ok imitation comes out people will watch anyway and some are good enough to get reruns as well.

I know that feel all too well
>tfw
Cute girls genociding cutely when?
>all those cheap copypastes that pretend to be new shows
Mecha was doing that for 50 years so there's still room for a few more decades of SoL.
Also K-On is only mid-tier SoL for me so there are well over 30 other series I'd rather rewatch.
I watched 4 episodes of both and god help me if have to watch more to appreciate them. But from what I've seen, most of the run time is spent on just the characters being cute just for the sake of being cute. Especially the main characters of both being ditzy. Clearly not much else mattered outside that.
Sure, we're told the MC of New Game has problems with her work but there wasn't much thought put into that plot as it simply passes by. The majority of the scenes are just generic moe cliches I could find in all those other CGDCTs before it.
I agree lately, there have been more CGDCTs that try to have a plot but those fail because how clearly half assed they are for the sake of having a plot and trying to distinguish itself from others of the genre. It was why Sora Yori became a time flop.
The one appeal of CGDCTs is just moe, which makes it really limiting compared to other series about a mix of different feelings. Scenes to appeal to that moe feeling are done so many times the way they all do so now are so generic, whatever new CGDCT that comes out, what we want to get from them, we can already get from so many shows before them.
You also have actual fantasy cute girl (aka basically both genres) with Endro, in New Game it is also with a programming and related jobs, lolicon and cute girls with Wataten, etc. How is this not variety while other animes are? kon is the most bland of them imo
Imagine being this fragile lmao
Keep sipping that onions friend, everything is fine make the bad thoughts go away yes yes
I don't know, but every single person i see that watches moeshit tends to be a sad pathetic sack of shit with issues of some kind, go figure
>that spacing
>time flop
>the entire post
Wow I love r/4channel
>K-On! is about starting a new chapter in your life, enjoying it immensely, and then dealing with it abrubtly ending. The characters change greatly over the series and the theme of moving on while taking time to remember the good times is always there.
So just a less funny azumanga clone?
Most series are a mix of many genres and they're all more flexible than moe, which make them different in all kinds of ways. Even isekai has more variety than moe slice of life where all they try to do is make the characters cute.
And this is different from shonen being all powerlevels and mostly fights but one has ninjas?
Which series are you talking about? I suspect you're being a complete idiot and mean Naruto, which is completely misunderstanding it but I'll give you a chance to explain.
Yes I mean nuruto. But the other series has pirates so of course there's variety. So what now, shonenfag?
It's relaxing and the girls are cute.
This. Moeblob SoL makes me feel better and forget about how shitty life is.
>being all powerlevels and mostly fights
>Naruto
This is so wrong, first of all, Naruto is primarily a drama, not an action, although that's also a strong genre of the series. The only fight that was really dragged out was that one near the end of the series.
Most of the scenes focus on bonding us with the characters, exploring their motives and show how one can turn a tragic experience into a drive to make a difference in the world or their own lives. There's a reason why there are so many flashbacks in the series.
In fact, the whole first arc was almost entirely focused getting to know the characters and we get episodes upon episodes just about establishing their relationships. Naruto and Sasuke's bond is an interesting twist on the hero/rival relationship.
Sasuke doesn't simply hate Naruto, he has complicated conflicted feelings on him. Sasuke understands Naruto due to them both being lonely orphans, however, Sasuke believes he has more right to be strong since he once had a family to lose and sees his own pain as greater. This creates an interesting dynamic between the two.
Even the various fights in Naruto are well done since they show many unique approaches characters take which is a great way to make fights interesting. As it helps us be engaged and follow along with the character in how they overcome challenges. There's usually a good reason for the length of any fight.
Some may have a long duration between the fight's starting and ending point but most of those use a lot of time to explore the characters, like going into their backstories. In any traditional action series, this would be getting in the way of the fights but the reason Naruto does it is because the fights aren't the most important thing.
I can go on and on about what makes Naruto special but we'd end up with a really, really, long essay. How is it that so many people misunderstand the series?
