Medaka had convinced herself Zenkichi was "special" since he always managed to keep up with her. When she saw him not only lose, not only unable to make it past the starting line but whining and making excuses, it basically shattered her view of him in her eyes.
It's just like at the beginning when she couldn't understand that people would fail a test due to a lack of knowledge. She thought that they must be making mistakes like messing up filling bubbles or forgetting to write their name. Medaka is perfect. And because she's perfect she can't understand people. Someone who always succeeds can't understand someone who's failed.

The Minus Arc yes, not because it became good, but it became a spectacular train wreck.

Medaka Box wasn't ever good, but Minus Arc is when Nisio puts on like three or four more layers of irony and creates the best intentional trainwreck ever made.

Usually I'm against things being made bad on purpose because I think it's unauthentic, but Nisio put so much work into making it as dumb as possible he deserves some credit.

So basically Iihiko exists outside of the confines of the manga. He isn't affected by characters physical attacks within the manga because they can't reach him. You, the reader, cannot be affected by a characters punch. But Iihiko is vulnerable to words because words can affect the reader. Goku can't hit you with a punch but he can affect you with his words. It's worth noting one of the most powerful blows that was dealt to him was when Medaka sped out of frame and off panel.

Sasuga, Nisio

It had lots of bs moments, but they were so over the top that I loved them instead. RIP the manga

Honestly one of my favorite manga I've ever read, but I understand it's mostly just because it did a lot of things I like. Hard to recommend but I still love it
