Looks like they're stopping fun stuff (CGDCT moeshit) to focus on serious stuff (VE, Free, Denki). Although they've always done some serious stuff (Air, Kanon, Clannad).
Hopefully they'll finish scratching their artistic itch and get back to fun stuff after 2020.

20th Century will most likely be Spring 2020, as theirs a gap in the event promotion where the main girl's design will most likely be revealed

KyoAni has existed since 1981; 2003 was just the first time they were the lead studio on a production.

Guys, I've been a Kyoani supporter since they released the masterful Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Hyouka is one of my favorites of all time, I love K-On! more than anything, After Story is my favorite anime of all time. But this is just... too much. I can't anymore. Everything they're making nowadays is flopping so hard. Even moderate successes like Koe no Katachi have been completely lackluster. Maid Dragon, Violet, Liz and Tsurune have all been major disappointments. Now even Hibike is flopping. It's think it's time to say goodbye. Thanks for all the good memories.

As a novel reader season 2 would've been a total genre shift going from a comedy to a tragedy. Kyoani are smart with how they gave it closure, it's just not feasible.

VEG and Tsurune were both mediocre, and so was Free S3. 2018 must be their annus horribilis quality-wise. Hopefully 2020 will be better for them.
