First chapter out officially
Samurai 8
Is it me or these scans are fucking low quality
>more jap shit
when is he going to continue Mario?
Yeah, I don't know what the fuck is this trash.
never you fucking retard, he's been wanting to do S8 since Naruto ended
S8 means Survives 8?
damn, calm down, autist. It's just a manga, bro.
it still looks and reads like a mess wtf you guys said this is the new better naruto
I thought this shit was supposed to be better than Black Clover.
Hey, Kishimoto, tell the artist that screentones exist for a reason.
It doesn't seems to look much better that the scans as some people thought it would a couple days ago. Pretty disapointing since the rest is not great but kinda ok.
Is this as shit as naruto or has kishimoto improved thanks to a miracle that appeared as light in his window a certain night?
Too early to judge
Someone needs to chop this artist fingers off, fuck you for killing my eyes
Can this climb out there with neverland, HQ and Hero Academia, or become BC-tier irrelevant
things regarding samurai make more sense now with this translation
mangastream and jaimini are fucking terrible translators
wow this was shit
i expect it to be completly carried out by the author name anothing else
>official release
>suddenly everything is much clearer, my eyes doesn‘t hurt anymore
Fuck scaniggers
i thought people were saying the real thing was going to be cleaner and easier to read. it's still messy as fuck. also when did the MC pick up that cane-sword? that's how he won the fight at the end, but when did it ever show him picking it up?
Are you insane, user? It looks like ass.
Hard to believe that Kishimoto is in charge of the sketch composition, dialogue, panel layouts, and storyboarding, because it doesn't feel like that at all.
>linking to MangaPlus when Viz have it
Their reader is much superior.
How am I literally the only one who can understand what's happening with the art? Do I have the sharingan?
not everyone is a overweight burger you retard
Yea Forums is retard
why would kishimoto improve
he's a middle aged man who's been drawing complete shit for 15 years, he's not going to get good again this ship has sailed
It's just MHA and HxH autists trolling.
Samurai 8 chapters
I give it a 7/10 for a first chapter by shounen standards. It's not bad by any means. It could've been better. Art was about what I expected maybe a little less, I don't like that the baddy was basically Tobirama recyced but it's a good design. Story has potential.
Interesting setting, will give it few chapters. At the very least it's not automatic vomit like 90% of WSJ.
He didn't pick it up, he put it on when his father gave it to him. In a few panels you can see him with it (but the cane isn't extended).
>speedreaders on the first chapter
bruv
his writing is much worse than his drawing
decent chapter didn't like that a crippled kid one shoted an experienced ronin though
The usual 1145px trash they do. If someone feels like dumping it:
files.catbox.moe
The design is kind of cool, but the visual storytelling is a mess.
The writing is terrible but at least its not another copypaste generic shounen like MHA and Black Clover
The writing is only bad because Kishimoto cant copy Togashi anymore
Deku doesn't beat any villains in the first chapter.
>not like MHA and BC
>crippled loser child gets special godly powers, thus nullifying what actually made them special in the first place
The only difference is S8 didn't preach any bullshit or put emphasis on hardwork while MHA and BC tried to send a message. Its pretty much exactly like those 2 otherwise, and will probably end up popular like those 2 as well.
This shit feels more like a oneshot than an actual opening for a series.
Compare it, then tell me scans are better
togashi is the one who is copying other manga
Where's all the shading, the art is an ugly white mess.
>and will probably end up popular like those 2 as well.
Which one?
They differ hard in popularity
I am too much of a brainlet for Kishimoto
I don't know what it is but I have to read each page 3 times.
>tfw I cared more about that Father than any MHA "emotional"moments
Based Kishi showing the rookies how its done
I feel like I need to take two advil after reading that chapter.
>Naruto Creator Masashi Kishimoto Comments on His Next Manga Samurai 8
More than BC because the MC is rapeable and the designs are nicer, but less than MHA because its not as good
it's not on his arm after he transforms but after what you said i looked at it again. in the scene i assumed it was dissolving into his new body i guess it actually just hid inside his arm?
It’s cleaner than the rushed scanlations but still a visual mess, the artist really needs to straighten out his compositions and add more contrast. Everything just drowns in too many details where foreground and background just become unison clutter.
Does this man ever rest? His family must hate him.
>writing
>bad
Nigger, how? There is a god that gives people powers for being cool people. One of these people was sent to collect several keys to unlock a box to defeat a great evil. The guy was somehow converted into another, weaker, form. Cut to disabled kid on life support. Kid is resentful of life for getting fucked over with allergies, phobias and being unable to function without a gargantuan and overly complex life support. Kid's father is a genius that is building a mobile version of the system so his kid can have a life. Father goes to Ronin that likes selling shit for hard cash. Ronin steals key from father to get expensive sword. Kid meets guy that was trusted to find keys to stop evil thing. Guy finds kid to be interesting, due to his attachment to the video game he developed and released to find potential students. Kid kills self to save father. Samurai god turns kid into a samurai cyborg with magic. Kid fucks up trash-tier Ronin.
There. I summarised it. The only part that doesn't make sense is where the father got the key and that will probably be explained within the next chapter.
He was on vacation for two years with his family and said he planned the new manga from start to finish so he can retire earlier, after finishing a manga of his favourite genre.
I doubt they give a shit that their rich manga father/husband is making more money after spending time with them for two years straight.
learn to take criticism without sperging about "huntertards and mhafags and bcucks" and so on and so forth, the art and shading is not very good imo, I personally dislike it and the whole science mumbo jumbo is drawn poorly in action scenes and the premise is very boring,
Mc is already waking up to his asspull powers on the first chapter too.
The setting seems shitty, the art is not good, the mc is unlikable, the designs are ugly and I honestly have very little hope for this one.
>no dump
Far, far better than MHA first chapter.
>dumping 72 pages
fuck off, you do it
The scifi bullshit is a real turn off.
I'm hoping we get to see more complex and cool samurai armor as the manga goes on.
Yeah it's inside his arm now because he's a cyborg. Like in the game the two samurai open their forearms up to retrieve their sword handles.
its getting a lot of attention on jap twitter
Is it supposed to look like a sperm and egg?
I'm intrigued.
Art is ass.
I’m ass. Art is intriguing.
I'm Art. Ass is intriguing.
Tomoe
Lazy fuck
I call it shitposting.
No way. MHA first chapter wasn't that generic.
>
What have they been saying about it?
I imagine the reception has been mostly positive given the art.
definitely a one piece killer
since samurai are keys and keys are people, its basically space One Piece looking for 6 other party members so they can open Pandora's Box
The artist needs to either darken the backgrounds or darken the characters more, like the aesthetic is nice and the technology almost reminds me of early Dragon Ball in look. But the character designs are all very light in color, and back grounds are so detailed that when things are moving they have a habit of blending into one another, especially when the particles start to flow off the characters.
The action isn't bad, but the motion could be more emphasized with more in-between panels. The MC is fairly powerful from the start so unless this is a manga were strategy is heavily focused on the fights are going to get bad early on.
>INB4
The Otsutsuki shows up later in the manga and its all one big connected Universe with Naruto.
Please say sike
Nah son.
WELCOM TO THE KISHI-VERSE FUCKER!!!
Please fuck off already, nobody is attached to Naruto's universe anymore. Just let this be its own thing.
Honestly I like Naruto's first chapter better. This is not bad, but everything just seems over the place. The most disappointed thing is that MC's disability is gone. I thought a disabled MC would have more potential for both story and chapter development.
I wonder how people would rate this first chapter without knowing it's from Naruto's author.
*character development.
How the fuck else was he gonna go on some grand adventure when he can’t even move 3 feet from his bed.
What I had expected was the MC got a handicap that, while doesn't stop him from going on adventures, does restrict his actions and he has to find way to work around his problem. At least that was the impression I got from the promotional arts.
now it has one of those video PVs jump gives to every new series these days
MC seems like he'll be less annoying at least
This is a fucking dumpster fire
>Much better artwork and paneling than end of Naruto
>Cooler designs
>Shounen MC who has guts
>Cool sidekick/master
>Well-done action scenes
Pretty good so far, kind of wished that he didn't get the samurai power-up at the end but it's a good hook of a chapter.
BNHA and Black Clover both had some of the most generic first chapters but look where they are now.
>Superhero society
>High school setting
>Beta MC shows courage out of nowhere just because and gets a huge powerup
Please.
Maybe some sort of mobile life support system
cant wait for the MC to go to Samurai Training High School next chapter!
i was almost baited by this post until bringing up bnha and bc made me realize it was bait
Can he defeat Naruti
nah
The biggest problem with this is that it's not as strong a first chapter as Naruto's first chapter was. Naruto was strong for a few dozen chapters and then steadily declined over time with strong moments sprinkled here and there. If this manga follows a similar pattern then it doesn't bode very well.
Issue 33 preview
early naruto was quite ok
Should I watch Samurai 7 to understand this?
You should watch Seven Samurai because it's a classic film that earns its status.
Looks gay as fuck. Literally.
Is that two guys in the right? Has shueisha finally embraced the fact that they have a lot of fujo readers?
>y-yeah guys lets read nardo 3.0!
Doesn't hurt. And you should read "Patriotism" by Yukio Mishima to better understand the difference between a samurai and a warrior.
It’s shit.
Mostly saying its fun and has a lot of potential. Although they have similar criticisms of the art being hard to follow. Also, a lot of them who haven't bought a WSJ issue in a long time went out today just to get this issue for S8. Samurai 8 may actually end up boosting other series' sales if the people who hadn't bought in an issue in a while read past S8 to see what else is in the magazine and something catches their interest. This could very unironically be Jump's next hit.
Hope Kishi goes all out with the begining like in Naruto.
I can't put it into words because I'm retarded and ignorant when it comes to proper lingo but I found more than half of the issue highly unpleasant to read, feels like an off putting weird looking issue hundreds of chapters in instead of an enticing beginning.
This shit better get axed if there's no major improvement because I hate the meme of letting popular authors take space with shit series.
I feel like it's not easy to parse what's the foreground and what's the background. The characters, the setting, everything they're wearing, all just sort of blends together into a soup of lines.
The artist is obviously a rookie. Even Kishimoto's first naruto chapter reads straight than this
Truth
>but at least its not another copypaste generic shounen
Let's not be too hastly, there's no reason to suspect this won't be like every other fightin shonen.
Black Clover is the best shonen out right now though...
This was so much better than BC's first chapter, if that shadow of a turd of a manga can survive, this will easily outsell it
put KnY and JJK under Kubo
Nice joke user, everyone knows BC is trash.
This
name one shonen better than BC right now. It has been doing nothing but improving upon itself with every new chapter.
Literally any shonen is better BC except maybe FT, fuck off
OP, HxH, MHA, KnY, Jujutsu, Chainsaw Man, Act-Age
>It has been doing nothing
Copying other shonen*
None of those are better and I'd say Kimetsu is close, but still not better. And are you seriously enjoying HxH right now? Don't lie to yourself. And OPM is not a shonen. EVen then, Mob Psycho 100 is better than it.
>OPM
I said One Piece, but yes OPM is better as well
>OPM is not a shonen
It is
oh my bad. One Piece is still the best. but you can't compare it to BC because it's been going on for so fucking long. It is iconic. OPM is not a shonen. You're dumb.
How the fuck can anyone like Kimetsu by now? It had an interesting start but the past dozens of chapters and pretty much the whole series now completely relies on adding bullshit over bullshit recoveries and gimmicks over once entertaining fights until they drag on for so long and so ridiculously you lose all interest on them. This really baffles me, I can't seem to put any more effort into reading it but I also heavily dislike dropping series so I'm bound to wait until fate releases me from such fate.
undeniable proof that Hunterfags are insecure idiots.
Okay I might be looking too much into it, but I think I see what Kishi is trying to pull here. The whole theme of the chapter was that the truth is hidden behind illusion and there's this big motif of contradiction (the dog who acts like a cat, the blind samurai who can see clearly, committing sepukku to attain immortal life. He mentioned in an interview iirc how the concepts of samurai and sci-fi were opposed in terms of being death vs immortality)
So if we look at mythology where he takes a majority of inspiration. The concepts of the universal rebirth is common. (Ages come and go in cyclical nature). In hinduism, Shiva is celebrated as the god of destruction because destruction is an important element to the cycle of rebirth. The universe is dying and they're trying to stop it from being destroyed, but what if that's the bad thing? Looking a layer under the illusion and opening pandora's box (when opened in greek myth it released evil into the world) is just a means for stagnating the universe is a state of misery without letting it be reborn or uhh transformed.
Which makes me think, Kishi mentioned the number 8 will play an important role. Hachimaru's role as the 8th samurai could allude to that. 8's commonly seen as infinity, rebirth. This is emphasized in that Hachimaru gained "infinite" life by committing seppuku, his rebirth. SO I WONDER, if the universe has to be destroyed to undergo a transformation that will make it attain its true harmonious state. aka verse has to commit its own "suicide" destruction and mimic the samurai transformation in a thematic way.
So thatd be a cool plot twist that they're getting baited into opening pandoras box when that's not the right play and Hachimaru is the key to "transcending" the universe to its true form or whatever. but yeah hype
Samurai 8? More like Samurai Axe
>when Kamio exists
>when Saiyuki exists
>when Futaru no Taisei exists
>when Beast Children exists
>when Tokyo Shinobi Squad exists
yeah nah
Interesting theory
will there be cute competent girls
>be cripple
>immediately healed
nice
would you rather him send an unrealistic message about cripples becoming cool warriors
>Kishi
>competent girls
I bet the black chick who is Daruma's master will probably job and Hachimaru, Daruma's inexperienced student will save the day.
A shinobi must see underneath the underneath.
why does the protagonist look like an eternal virgin? Couldnt they have made a spin off of sasuke or something
Am I the only one who notices Hachimaru looks almost exactly like that Denki kid from Boruto?
>How the fuck can anyone like Kimetsu by now? It had an interesting start but the past dozens of chapters and pretty much the whole series now completely relies on adding bullshit over bullshit recoveries and gimmicks over once entertaining fights until they drag on for so long and so ridiculously you lose all interest on them
You're a special kind of brainlet because everyone agrees Kimetsu's start was easily the worst part
It only starts getting good during Spider arc
Here's your Sasuke spinoff bro.
>be cripple
>heal by killing yourself
What was the message there?
>then turned said weak protag into invincible-chosen-one character anyway
>The page that triggered Narutofags.
Eh, he's one of the chosen, not the chosen one. The difference being there was literally one Asura and one Indra reincarnate per generation in Naruto, but in this there are multiple people chosen to be samurai by Fudo Myoo including the jobber Tobirobot.
Oh great another fucking Deku
I think I am over fucking feeble protagonists.
Try actually reading the chapter you fucking mongoloid
read Black Clover, Chainsaw Man, or Jujutsu Kaisen.
When did it have a blade included though?Vecause after defeating the ronin samurai, it out of no where it had a blade and thats reason he was able to kill him.
Most likely an upgrade from being revived as a cyborg, like how it's now inside his arm instead of in its own separate cylinder attached to his arm.
I assume the art will become a lot less overdesigned when the first three chapters are out and the regular shitty mangaka scheduling starts
Setting is interesting which already makes is better than other current WSJ crap.
youtu.be
>tfw Kishi rip-off of this
what do you not like about the setting of the current wsj line up?
>making a sequel to one of the worst anime ever made
This isn't a sequel to anything though
Oh yeah? What's this, then?
Curious how the long term story for this is gonna turn out, but I'm hopeful that if Kishimoto already has everything planned, he'll cap it at a couple hundred chapters and we won't get another ninja war arc or something
Are the spines/samurai the keys or are the key physical objects inside the spines?
Nardo 2.0?
BC, MHA, and Boruto exist
Shounen Jump is truly dead
the story's fine. the art is complete and absolute trash thought.
>got btfo
>muh insecure
>no counterargument
god kill yourself
>bleach Kishimoto version
>bleach invented japanese sword fighting
WORLD TRIGGER
>david died for this
Actually, ne0 got the axe first and S8 is the first of the new wave, which means ne0;lation died for this. Higuma got axed second and Futari no Taisei (Go manga) debuts next week, which means Higuma died for that. The third series to get axed is David, and the third new series coming in 2 weeks is Beast Children. Your series died for a rugby manga.
The best selling shounen manga magazine is dead. Sure.
What a punchable face
This translation made more sense but I didn't understand some thing. I really like the art too.
A good anime.
What didn't you understand
some things*
Mostly about hachimaru being the key, there's supposed to be 8 and cat had 1 but I don't understand how Hachimaru became a key. Was it the crimson blade whatever?
Also it felt like there was too much going on for 1 chapter, Kishi himself said in an interview that unlike Naruto this first chapter was going to be a bit tough to follow since there's lots of exposition.
I like the disabled kid angle, but his avatar in the game world and the fighting in the game world is too much. Where is the build up?
?
topkek. S8's first chapter is nowhere near MHA's and TPN's first chapters. It's pretty average.
I like how his glasses go up on the sides of his head and then click together on his face when he needs them. Like what is the point, but it's aesthetically neat
I like how it looks like animal ears
this shit is more sòy than MHA. fucking dropped
Yeah, they're kinda like folded dog ears which makes sense.
This "artist" doesn't know how to give depth and use shading.
