Mirai is a shit character. Since when was Asuma EVER like this? He has always been the serious, no-nonsense guy who takes big personal risks to protect his people. Mirai is an airhead who overthinks and overcompensates because she has no actual shinobi experience.

It's based on a light novel (Konoha Shinden), and let's just say that there's more to this arc than meets the eye.

Kurenai is a genjutsu specialist and is likely a distant relative to the Uchiiha due to her clan's eyes. She only fought Itachi on-screen, who is a fucking S-class ninja that not even Kakashi and Guy could beat. Mirai is nowhere even close to that level, though she probably will surpass both of her parents as the series wraps up. Asuma is a close-mid range ninjutsu specialist while Kurenai is a long-range genjutsu specialist. They actually complement their weaknesses quite well. If Mirai has both in her arsenal, she won't be as weak in battle.

We were never in filler season to begin with. Every episode is canon because Kodachi and Ikemoto supervise the anime.

I don't object to Mirai being different from her parents. I object to Kakashi's line near the end of the episode where he stated that Mirai got her personality from Asuma, which isn't even true. Asuma may have been serious on missions t oo, but it wasn't this awkward and airheaded.

Asuma's falling out was against Hiruzen personally, most likely for the fact that Hiruzen did absolutely nothing to save his mother. Asuma also rebelled because he disagreed with his father's methods of just protecting the village and not the entire country as a whole. Asuma quickly joined the Fire Daimyo's personal guard once he left, so it's not like he became a thug or something.

Everything you listed started well and only continued to grow in popularity and sales for years to come, only losing sales as they neared their ends but still selling a good amount for a WSJ series. Boruto started off decent, but instead of growing, immediately proceeded to decline heavily in both.

I read some parts of the original novel. They cut some of the conservation. Kakashi said Asuma used to be less calm when he was a lot younger and clashed with his father. He said after leaving the village (Becoming a Guardian Shinobi, I think) he mellowed out and their relationship improved.

Also, Mirai acts more hysteric in the anime. She was a lot more calmer in the novel and a little irritable.

It literally needs to be edgy. That's what the fans want. It's about ninjas, people want violence and heavy shit. I'm pretty sure the kids feel the same way.

I think it's time for a gambit.

Things are going nowhere as long as the anime and manga are so reliant on each other for story consistency. The anime is suffering more because doesn't want to surpass and completely contradict the manga.

What they need to do is make a new, legitimate group of antagonists for the anime and have strong communication between the anine and manga so the characters can get proper development and good story impact that won't hurt things for later.

It will go like this.

-Manga: Kara and their plot.
-Anime: New group of villains and their plot.

And all of them can tie-in to have the Otsutsuki clan as the endgame villains for both.

I think you're kind of right and it might be happening after they finish adapting the novels and stuff. The last few chapters of the manga have been insane, once they get animated it's going to be very hype.
