0083 was gud?
0083 is the lowpoint of the franchise.
The only thing it has going for it is the art.
That's pretty much the only thing the franchise has going for it, the narrative has never been good. In that respect, 0083 is the peak of the franchise.
>lowpoint
better than Tomino retcons and silly 0080
It is hard to appreciate the visuals when they are depicting such infuriating characters.
WING IS EVERYTHING GUNDAM NEEDED
>0083 is the lowpoint of the franchise.
That's not 08th MS Team
Your problem lies in giving a shit about the characters in the first place.
I think one of the top gundams is definitely unicorn the animation in stardust cant compete which makes for a better experience when watching the mecha fights.
It's the fault of the previous entries for actually having good characters that made me give a shit.
0083 is garbage. They really wasted those sweet designs and that OVA money.
There are many series that blow Gundam's characters out of the water regardless of the entry. Characters like Amuro fulfill the good guy role in a very obvious and stale way. I won't deny that Char makes a good villain, but he's not particularly an interesting character just because he fills that role well. Even at the best of times, there's not much more to him than "muh gravity".
Except the characters and story is incredibly bad.
lol no
it was shit
/m/emes explain why it's bad
the plot and theme get really muddled in the latter half because the director changed midway. It weakens it a lot but I still like it.
I think the best one is 0080 if I'm speaking critically.
The most recent thing I thought was pretty good was thunderbolt.
I think the trick may be to do a smaller series that takes place a bit before zeta or after double zeta.
Or maybe during zeta? We need to get away from the one year war and focus on telling a tight, well thought out story where the robots are neato but humanity and war are what it's primarily about.
80s shading is so niceeee
no
>There are many series that blow Gundam's characters out of the water.
Not really. Tomino tends to create exaggerated personalities but at his best they're thematically interesting and interconnected in compelling ways. They do what they need to do.
was narrative good?
That Gundam show you loved? It's bad and you have shit taste.
That Gundam show you hated? It's good and you have shit taste.
What's Yea Forums's general opinion about Origin? I'm new to Gundam and just picked it up
One of the best gundam of all time
It's alright, not the worst, not the best. Here's the timeline, somewhat dated by now. Probably best to watch them in release order:
en.wikipedia.org
>shitty fanmade robotech timeline
>Characters like Amuro fulfill the good guy role in a very obvious and stale way.
I always feel like people miss that Amuro is actually a huge egotistical asshat, or is acting as a paranoid maniac half the time. If he'd started calling the Gundam "precious" he'd be doing a decent Golum impression when he steals the Gundam because bright wants to get other people trained to use it, so Amuro can have time off.
Isn't that from a G-Gen game which western fans added 00 and AGE onto?
Origin is fun, but it's like 50% fanfiction. If you can keep that in mind it's good.
Thanks user
If you take one of the worst Gundams as the etalon, then I can say that new gundams are already as god.
The manga? Or the OVAs derived from the manga? The former is decent overall, if nothing else for the art. The latter generally suck, because they're adapted from the worst part of the manga. They're a needless, somewhat stupid prequel.
>0083 and 08th MS team
>good
shitty romance ruined both show.
i like the robutts going pew pew
I wouldn't say worst part, more like the part that absolutely doesn't stand on its own and really didn't call for an adaptation. These OVAs really weren't needed and shouldn't have been made at all.
If psychoframe shenanigans pissed you off in Unicorn, you're going to fucking hate it. Otherwise it's a good watch, one of the better gundam movies.
I would have preferred one based on it, that was more true to Tomino's timeline of events leading up to the OYW. There's not nearly enough Federation over-reaction. It should be.
>Declare independence
>Federation start building up an military immediately
>Zeon feel threatened and start beefing theirs up
>Federation escalate
>Zeon escalate (with Mobilesuit research)
>Riah tries to secede and federation invade with Zeon interfering to support Side 6's self-determination which shows off mobile suits for the first time.
muh build fighters
>I think the best one is 0080 if I'm speaking critically.
Patrician taste. IMO one of the only times UC Gundam actually pulled off the war theme they were going for without getting bogged down in "war is hell; now watch these invincible psychic ace pilots effortlessly win glorious battles against all odds with plot armor and space magic"
It also helps that it's one of the few Gundam MCs who is a legit normal/sane, down to earth dude who just got stuck in a shitty situation of having to fight against another soldier who is also a normal, decent person stuck in a shitty war.
Gundam's theme is hardly only "War is hell." The whole point of Tomino's "Adults are bad" and other shit in Gundam completely flies over your head
I would say the first part of F91 does it well as well.
I enjoyed the hell out of F91. Such a shame the plan to make it as a TV series got scrapped but on the upside, movie quality animation. Also, the ending is one of the best gundam themes, along with stuff like Men of Destiny.
The same people who hate 0083 also hate GBF though.
Origin was very good, I enjoyed it.
IBO is the best Gundam.
Tomino has a lot stupid ideas. Like that colony in ZZ where people live as a pre-medieval society and you're clearly supposed to sympathize with that retardation.
>He doesn't like TOPGUNdam
>fantastic visuals
>story on par with seed destiny
>literally the worst gundam protag in the franchise
Kou and Gato are also normal dudes.
>spacer hitler III
>wojak blanco
>normal dudes
Don't call me just because you are lonely tonight.
Was this one before or after the one where Mexico was literally a giant Sombrero and the gundam was a bandolero with a cactus on its shoulder?
...
Before
Ok so my answer is "yes, when that gundam came out"
