Because it fell apart in the 3rd ep despite a good setup, and no amount of 'you just don't get it' is going to wave off stupid shit like Imari's pointlessness.

I’m not Yea Forums but I like both.
The original series is the best of Eva media. It’s got some dumb filler episodes, and some off beat moments, but for the most part, the original series is the most pure “Eva” content: the patricians choice.
End of Evangelion is actually not that good. It’s meant to placate babies who couldn’t handle the way the show ended.
Eva Rebuild 1.0 is probably the weakest piece of Eva media for me. It’s just a rehash of the first episodes of the anime, with the exception of revealing that the rebuilds are actually sequels.
Eva Rebuild 2.0 is one of the strongest pieces of Eva media. I think I rank it just below the show. Shinji is at his most likeable and watchable in 2.0, the action is great, and it’s pure dumb wish fulfillment fantasy, created with the express purpose of setting up 3.0 to be a massive middle finger to the audience, just as the original Eva series was intended to be.
3.0 is devoted almost entirely to the gay angel who only wants you to be happy.
So basically the rebuilds are great.
The point of EVA to me is the duality of an escapist fantasy that encourages you to stop being a child and live in the real world, and the Rebuilds do a good job of that. They’re inferior to the show, but as far as being pure entertainment, 2.0 actually rivals the show (although its philosophical point is not made until 3.0, and that point elevates the media to more than just a good mecha anime).

It would have made most people happy if Anno just remade the TV series with bigger budget and shinier graphics. Pretty much every change and deviation from the original only makes things worse. Movie 3 is borderline unwatchable.

I think you’ve missed the point. It’s the s&m like combination of “indulgent fantasy” and “paternal chastisement from daddy Anno” that makes the show great. I already live in the real world user.

The people against it like with everything are very loud and spaztic,

because the original is one of the best anime of all time, so it's really hard to make a new take on it that isn't worse.

I watched only the first 2, I didn't like how the characters were handled in the second one, and the first one felt like just a rushed remake of the series

We do get some cool visuals, especially in the battles, but overall they don't feel much like Eva, and Eva as a story doesn't work very well for movie format

The way the originals handled the plot was not particularly concise, but the way it conveyed the various stories it aimed to tell was insanely tight and well coordinated. Every episode had some segment that progressed each story and most characters in a very meaningful way. There was nothing extra--no exteanious characters or filler with regards to how the meaningful parts of the show ran, it was the most minimal possible telling of the story. Granted the actual stuff on screen tended to meander, but if you did a cut of the show where it was just a compilation of scenes where misato and her relationships are developed or something, this cut would be about the purest way possible to tell her story. The rebuilds toss a lot of that out the window.

Mari's massive rocking tits were distracting and she did seem rather out of place, especially since the 3.33 cuts to them right after Kawaru's head gets blown off. Could have replaced anything her mech does with Toji and the story would have been better off for it.

After 3.0, no one is going to take what the next does seriously.
Worst Rebuild 4 can do is reveal itself as part of some convoluted timeloop involving the anime canon and retroactively bring down the original story.

I think this is true for the anime as a whole, but I would definitely rate some episodes in the last third of the OG as better than EoE
