In hindsight do you think they regret it? Did they think she would catch on more than Rem?
In hindsight do you think they regret it? Did they think she would catch on more than Rem?

Authors never care about 'catching on'
They only care about their chosen girl winning and nothing else.
Sometimes even outright sabotaging other girls with retcons
I love Remilia
any other good examples of this?
Check Konosuba, Akame Ga Kill, Attack On Titan,
The best example I can think of is Hayate no Gotoku.
>implying the author needs to kowtow to the fans' shit taste
from the wn it is hinted that his love for her is caused by something other than attraction. Possibly something to do with both of their connections with the witch of envy. It's not clear yet.
Which girl was meant to win? I haven't read it in years.
I could be going full retard here but wasn't Subaru planning on going the actual harem route where he could fuck both?
If he doesn't keep trying to win Emilia's heart, THERE IS NO PLOT.
Seriously, if he's banging Rem, what's he going to do? Platonically orbit Emilia to help her become Queen?
The whole show was stupid all the way up to that point. I don't understand why so people flipped out over this.
Masamune-kun
This, if he hooked up with Rem, they'd have to put the relationship through lots of autistic drama
Because Emilia doesn't do anything. She's a non factor in the romance, to the point you could probably compare her to Tsubomi from Mob Psycho.
>He needs to bang Emilia in order to make her queen, not simply have platonic loyalty and empathy towards her
>VinceMcMahonisaMillionareWhoShouldbeaBillionare.mp4
Never go into any kind of consumer based business user you clearly have no idea how it works
Isn't this just another way of saying authors having some kind of artistic integrity and not bowing to the changing whims of their autist audience
>Konosuba
how?
>Akame Ga Kill
Who was sabotaged? I feel like whats her face came out of left field, I'd always assume the choice was gonna be between the namesake Akame, or Esdeath.
>Attack on Titan
The mikasa thing was retconned but that wasn't to push Eren to a ship or anything
Ruka should've won :(
Akame, Esdeath and Leone.
Konosuba check darkness if you've read Konosuba
Also Mikasa...It hurts
>In hindsight do you think they regret it? Did they think she would catch on more than Rem?
The anime cut out the scene where Subaru confesses to Rem and altered every scene that Subaru shows affection to Rem. Why? The anime director was a huge emiliafag and completely misunderstood the main character as a self insert.
>Watanabe: That’s a tough question. People will get mad at me no matter who I say (laughs). But I suppose that Rem’s role in the story is that of a sub-heroine, while Emilia is the main heroine. I directed episode 1 myself and did as much as I could to enhance her presence in the scenes to make up for her lack of screen time. I’d change her outfits and made sure she gave off a strong impression. As far as I’m concerned, the heroine is Emilia, but perhaps nobody will believe me when I say that. After all, Rem clearly acts more like a heroine (laughs). But please don’t forget the scenes that showcase Emilia as the heroine (laughs).
>Watanabe: I thought: “He’s me!” (laughs) There are parts of his character that resonate with anyone, but especially with guys. I didn’t even have to scrutinize myself. I could tell just from looking at him that he was a life-sized version of me.
The WN and up until the Vol 7 of the LN had Subaru be in love with Rem. The anime was what made the LN change. And in the LN/WN "I love Emilia" (yen press translated it as 'like') comes off completely differently.

Whatever you are trying to imply here doesn't apply to Re:Zero as in the WN, the author's original artistic vision, Subaru is in love with Rem, more so than with Emilia.
>Chosen girl wins
>All the other girls don't care and keep trying.

I'd argue here that he wrote the SubaRem dynamic with more impact because he's generally not that good at writing romance. By being personally more invested in Emilia romance, he's written something that just kind of bland and uninspiring. Their scenes come across as out of place.
>darkness
>even considered a prospect by mc
Infinite stratos is the biggest example. The author got major butthurt when no one liked Houki
Honestly the only way to avoid polygamy and make otaku happy is if all the other girls died sacrificing themselves for the hero

I get that but I don't believe he could be that blind when he was writing, the reason I say that Subaru loves Rem more than Emilia is that his actions show that Subaru loves Rem more. I also went through and looked at all the time Tappei uses Subaru's heart to describe his feelings and it's clear from those which one he loves more. Remember the Arc 4 confession? Subaru rips off Rem's confession while Beatrice only a few chapters apart got a heartfelt genuine confession, there's even a line in Subaru's to Emilia that he's been throwing confessions at her like the look cheap.
>the look cheap.
they look cheap
I'm at the part where he's about to leave the cat trap and green hair and go back to the mansion, how did he become such an insufferable cunt in 2 episodes? Does he get better or what
>how did he become such an insufferable cunt in 2 episodes?
they tried to make a character that you have to read his monologues and perspective to understand into a self insert
I'm not sure what was there to like about her. I don't have a hate-on for tsunderes, but she was constantly abrasive and on the rag even for her archetype. Didn't help that the anime kept her true to form while downplaying Charlotte's worst moments.
He's really not a fundamentally different person from before - rather this was an almost inevitable result of his personality clashing with his environment and intentions. He has deeply seated personal issues that now come to the forefront, agitated by the combination of trauma and his own inadequacies. He's feeling stress, jealousy and discontent and he can't fucking cope. He also expects people to understand and trust him when he has given them no reason to.
He also has a few moments where he calms down a bit and he's clearly less of a prick. Although to be honest I don't get why people think of him in this state as insufferable. From moment one I pitied him more than anything. I wanted to see him get over this hump, and while I get it being annoying from the characters' perspective, from ours we can see what this means for him as a character - something I find wholly positive and engaging. In short, I feel people who write him off completely after seeing him in this state are, well, basically blind; missing not only the big picture but a lot of the smaller details as well.
> He needs to bang Emilia in order to make her queen, not simply have platonic loyalty and empathy towards her
But would you even be invested at that point? He's already won! He's already got the prize! He might as well fuck off and settle down somewhere.
