Nekojiru

did u like the nekojiru anime? i think its' the best anime of all time and that everyone should watch it. the movie, cat soup, was good, but the series will always reign supreme in my experience.
its a big inspiration for me, nekojiru. every time im thinking about being lazy i just watch some nekojiru, soak in the deep messages about life and how u shouldnt waste ur time on earth because all of our experiences r ultimately meaningless, and then im not lazy anymore.
nekojiru is what the cool guys watch. nekojiru is the best!!!!

I've watched the OVA the other day.
Shit was heavy.

Wish the manga was fully scanned and translated. I don't know why it hasn't been already despite its acclaim and popularity. I really hope someone gets to it soon.

(Unless it has been by now and if so please tell me)

It's still rather niche, besides there's more manga in the Nekojiru series than Nekojiru Udon.

Someone did some of her diary stuff but most of her work is still untouched.
It doesn't help that the writing is pretty hard to read.

I could try translating if someone has any raws. But if the writing is messy it could get difficult, yeah...

It depends how used to handwriting you are. Considering I only look at Japanese in clear fonts since I started learning some of this is hard to work out.
It's not as scruffy as some I've seen and the scan seems decent enough so I assuming someone who has actually learnt Japanese could read it easy enough.

Oh, that doesn't look bad at all! Actually it's very clean and readable compared to almost all nip handwriting I've come across. I could do it, yeah.

Even if you don't end up translating it I might as well reup all I have considering how slow all the 13DL hosts are.
I doubt I'll be reading it any time this year anyway even if I could recognise the kanji better.

Oh, nice, thank you for the files! I think I'll give it a go. Might take a while to get anything out, though. I have exams coming so I really should be studying even now. But yeah, when I get something done I'll dump it here then.
So you are studying Japanese? Yeah, handwriting can be a problem no matter how good you get. This one is okay, though. It's actually written to be legible.

Can you put something special in the subject field when you do? like "nekojiru translation". it'll make it easier to search from the archive.

>Might take a while to get anything out
I wouldn't worry about that too much considering the manga came out over 20 years ago. It's already been over 10 years since I saw Cat Soup so waiting a bit longer for more content won't hurt.
The expectation it'd never get translated was one of the reasons I started learning so at least some good came of it, even if I still can't read anything.

Yeah, sure! I'll use that.

Now I kind of feel bad if I end up stealing your motivation away, lol. You can do it, though. It takes a while, but there surely comes a moment when you grasp it, and suddenly it starts making sense. it's nice feeling indeed.
Yeah, my exams are on Wednesday, so maybe I could get something out on Thursday or during the weekend at least. It really brings me back, it has been years since I've read any Nekojiru stuff... This series really is work of art if anything. I guess it's time to get it finally translated then.

30Gb of raw manga I have and want to read is enough motivation, this was just the first one that got me going.
There's also stuff by her husband that I'd be interested in checking out and I assume is even less likely that her stuff to get translated.

Well, that's good to hear at least! I'll be getting back to studying now then. See you again!

What's the meaning of the little brother?
Was it after her real brother?

What am I reading that has 11 chapters and 1 volume? There seems to be quite a few sin-offs on this. 1 animated series, 1 animated movie, 1 manga (11 chapters fully translated), and a Y series, made after the author died.

The series is a dark comedy based on the manga.
The film is loosely based off 1 chapter about the characters and is one of the best things Yuasa has been involved in from when he still made arthouse stuff.

So the 11 chapters is the full manga? It doesn't look like any of the posted pictures that I've seen here!

There's a lot more but most isn't even available raw, not to mention translated. Udon alone has 3 volumes I think.
If I can ever read it there's an 800 page book of Nekojiru stuff that'd probably be worth getting.

I can only find up to volume 3 in japanese.
What's this 800 page book you mention called?

ねこぢる大全
Looks like it's in 2 parts so it's actually 1600 pages. I assume that covers a lot of her work if the name is to be believed.
