Is it possible for a being in the New World to be theoreticaly stronger than level 100? Players are basicaly level ~30 D&D characters but there are canon characters in D&D with a much higher level than that.

I remember reading somwhere that certain Dragons sacrificed racial levels to take class levels, but weren't levels and tiered magic (as parts of the world) introduced by players? I know players can't get any stronger than level 100 but could one of the old style Dragon Lords have been able to do it? Ainz himself can't use warrior weapons or get any stronger than he is but that's because certain gameplay restrictions carried over to the New World. Original inhabitants of the NW shouldn't be so limited.

Taking a level dip into different classes isn't uncommon in D&D m80. Sure you miss out on the capstone abilities but when the hell was the last time you actually made it to level 20 before the campaign ended? Utility is its own strength too.

I think this is the biggest factor. OG DLs didn't have to work their assess off and just accumulated levels; so if you know how to bring one down it follows that you will know how to bring the others down too as they will be relatively the same.
Nu-DLs actively went out and probably picked fights with the most dangerous shit they could handle to power level and gain real world exp, sorta like how Ainz got progressively better at using melee where he could martially mogg on chair for a bit.
I assume a multiclassed DL with creative use of skills and battle exp would also dunk on old DLs that were big lazy bastards.

It doesn't sound right because it isn't. Peroroncino's birdman race, Tabula's Illithid race and Touch Me's bugman race should all be mortal. And those are just a few examples. Some Heteromorph races are immortal (demons, undead, dragons, possibly slimes), but some of the human/demihuman races might be as well. It's related to a race's inherent characteristics and heteromorph don't have a monopoly on immortality nor is it some trait they all share.

Elves should be longer lived than humans (I have no idea if they are immortal in Overlord) sicne they seem to follow DnD age progression. Aura and Mare are ~70-80 but are still children which fits with Elves becoming adults at ~100. Some settings make this a purely cultural thing with them growing at the same speed as humans but having different standards due to living longer. Others take the overlord approach and make them grow slower. If we had a full list of Ovelord races, there'd probably be a few immortal demihuman races in there.

Necromancers (and even other Wizards) turn themselves into Liches explicitly for the immortality. It's just not worth it otherwise. Nobody would do it if you just became an ageless undead. Taking care of aging is easy. Protecting yourself from other forms of death is harder. Being able to respawn with no consequences at your phylactery is just a really good power.

Imagine if Ainz had a phylactery in Nazarick's treasure room and could afford to go out in person and risk his life without consequence. The worst that would happen to him is that he would lose whatever items he was wearing. That's how Liches usually do things. They have a base that has all possible magic protections they could think of where their phylactery is located. If they get killed, they just respawn and can use whatever knowledge they gained from their fight to plan how to win next time. to kill Ainz for real, you'd have to invade and conquer Nazarick which is orders of magnitude harder than beating him in a fight. That's the entire point.

Pandora's Actor is Ainz's phylactery. That's the real reason he's not allowed to leave the treasury.
