Isn’t his power broken as fuck? Sure, the copies are slightly weaker, but he can spam them at an astonishingly fast rate.

As a complete magus or Archer, yeah, he's OP. But as he is during fate he's doing magecraft wrong as a joke because kiritsugu didn't teach him shit and is lucky he only gives himself irreparable brain damage in two routes.

In vidya terms, he has a very low MP bar, his physical stats are not special compared to servants, his pool of summonable stuff isn't infinite and has a way smaller moveset than Gil, and while he gets skills through his weapons, those skills are nowhere as good as their originals. He's a walking bootleg.

Get off the computer, Gil

He managed to beat one of the most broken servants too, even if it was like the best matchup to beat Gil I'm sure he would've been able to beat a ton of others servants too in that state

>I'm sure he would've been able to beat a ton of others servants too in that state

Didn't count

Basically everything that was already mentioned ITT plus the fact he has the scabbard inside him and plot armor.

Think of it this way. His sword swings are slow, he has a low hp bar, and low mp bar, his dex is low, his int is low, he can only hold 2 swords are a time, and his sword spam is weaker than Gil's.
None of Shirou's swords could pierce Berzerker's skin.
Lancer would be way too fast and powerful for Shirou to even deflect (when Lancer is serious for once).

He is best matched against Gil, but it was Gil's own fault that he lost. He has a ton of stuff inside Gate of Babylon that Shirou wouldn't have been able to match. He never put on his armor even though that would've easily defended against most of Shirou's attacks. And he hesistated to pull out Ea even if that would've instantly destroyed the reality marble.
Pretty much his insistence to prove "real > fake" fucked him over.

Nasu protagonists usually are pretty shit but super specialized at one broken thing.

Shirou is probably one of the weaker ones. Compared to RShiki with her broken tier MEoDP or Aoko with True Magic.

Shirou is not particularly talented like Shinji. Also has low grade circuits. Also low tier prana. Not particularly smart either. Most of what he gets is through hard work. Even Archer's smarts and mind's eye were from experience. Original Shirou didn't gain UBW until after death also burned out some of his circuits because he lacked talent and pushed himself too hard. FSN Shirou got shortcuts via Archer. Even then he couldn't use UBW without Rin. Even with it he's not THAT strong per . Shirou just counters Gil's GOB with UBW and Gil lets his guard down around Shirou.

How strong would he be if he wasn’t trained wrong, as a joke?

Gil would've won if he took Shirou seriously. He didn't don his armor and he visibly hesitated to grab Ea even when he summoned it.

Probably not very strong at all because he doesn't come from a long magus family that passes down their magic circuits and secrets down.

Yes, Shirou is a extremely overpowered magus in the situation he is in. Grail wars are in huge part determined by magical weapons the servants wield. He can just copy a bun ch of Rulebreakers and can do whatever, he can copy offensive noble phantasms en masse which stacks the odds in his favour massively.

Shirou is Naruto levels of overpowered "underdog"

Tbf he needs other characters to help him unlock his powers. For most of each route he’s useless

sure he is not literally god from the start, just how Naruto can not instantly access all the ridiculous kurama chakra

still overpowered

Ryougi maybe even stronger than Shirou in physical stats. She jump across building and bridge barricade easily.

>I'm sure he would've been able to beat a ton of others servants too in that state
He was a hard counter for Gil, that and Gil not taking him seriously are the only reasons he even stood a chance.

He has the potential to beat other servants, but not the way he is during Fate. Left on his own he would have been killed by Lancer day 1.

Coming straight from Nasu he would be around Kiritsugu's level.

It really isn't. He beats Gil because Nasu's writing is shit and he made him the perfect counter for "not serious" Gil.

In reality there are tons of magi in the setting who would slaughter him in seconds.

Just got to this scene last night. Looking forward to the rest.

>he can only hold 2 swords are a time
No shit, Sherlock. Humans have only 2 hands.

>Gil starts seething the moment he observes Archer
Classic

Not really. Shirou's ability spins around the fact he counters Gil too hard and Gil didn't took him seriously. Shaun Emerson wasn't joking when he said his tracing abilities would only work on someone like Gil, because everytime Gil throws something at him, Shirou is going to launch the same thing but faster.

Hakuno is a moon cell NPC so he is considerable stronger. And Gudao is a worse mage in terms of genetics but is able to cooperate and work with almost all servants.

Actually it's more the weapon that's dragging Shirou along for the ride, since the weapon's "memories"/history was also traced.
But the issue was that it could easily tear Shirou apart or fuck him up from all the strain. It is one of the reasons Archer chose Kanshou and Bakuyu as his main weapon, since they have no natural wielder associated with them.

No. He can only spam them inside UBW which has a retardedly long cast time, a huge MP cost and short duration. And even inside UBW his physical stats are shit.
Kiritsugu could kick his shit in without breaking a sweat. The only reason Gil lost is because Gil is jobber defined.

Shirou is strong but against a servant that is good at his np his chance to win will drop
>If he traces the same np as the enemy the enemy can beat it because copied skill will be inferior to the actual user of that np. This one can be seen when Shirou tried to copy K&B but utterly failed against Redman who has more experience.
>If Shirou tries to spam np the enemy can dodge, block, tank or parry them. The amount of np that Shirou has to spam to halt the enemy will eventually exceed his mana pool.
>If Shirou uses auto-mode then his body will break before he can win since the enemy can outlast him in dueling.
Shirou's best option is either sniping with broken phantasm (but will cost his mana greatly) or chanting UBW (he has to stall long enough for that to happen, Gil couldn't finish Shirou during the chant because Redman was protecting him).
Nasu has stated that Shirou vs Gil is something that won't happen again so while UBW sounds powerful on paper without proper planning it's very easy to lose.
