Based

Is this your genius keikaku to make people hate the show

wtf I hate utena now

all of those homosexuals and incest lovers end up being morally bad people that are shown to actively attempt to prey on others and "corrupt" them

the only characters in this series who get any kind of major role and don't end up doing morally objectionable shit
>nanami - a heterosexual girl outright repulsed by incest
>mitsuru - a boy with a crush on nanami who's only mistake is liking a girl several years older than him
>wakaba - a girl who just wanted to be in a monogamous relationship with a boy

and then afterwards in terms of "did nothing wrong" you have utena, a heterosexual girl who's explicit corruption and manipulation by the brown/homosexual characters is the main drama of the series

Doesn't Nanami murder someone's pet?

Mitsuru is shown as having an unhealthy obsession enough to be part of the Black Rose storyline

The only character you have a case for is Wakaba, but then I am responding to either a genuine mental deficient or a troll

The hope to find an Indian gf with huge green eyes is not lost either

SAKUGA IKUHARA

Some shit's good enough to transcend politics.

Yes, like the rights of same sex couples

>sakuga

>has good story
>has compelling characters

It's almost as if people hate blatant pandering and will appreciate something good regardless of what boxes it ticks

>all of those homosexuals and incest lovers end up being morally bad people that are shown to actively attempt to prey on others and "corrupt" them

This makes no sense. Heck, Juri didn't manipulated or corrupt anyone. She was the one preyed on.

>the only characters in this series who get any kind of major role and don't end up doing morally objectionable shit

Nanami is a bully who killed a kitten. She's extremely flawed like all duelists.

>and then afterwards in terms of "did nothing wrong" you have utena, a heterosexual girl

Utena is Bi.

> a heterosexual girl who's explicit corruption and manipulation by the brown/homosexual characters is the main drama of the series

Again, this make no sense. Especially because the "manipulation" is entirely heterosexual. Akio literally groomed her.

All of those are true, and I do enjoy those aspects. I do wish that those things weren't the first thing most people learn about Utena. Utena is an amazing TV show and there are so many things to love about it that the political shit being the main thing it is remembered for kind of bums me out. I understand why, but it makes me feel like a lot of people didn't really get the true extent of what Utena was as a television show. It shouldn't be reduced to those elements.
But I'm a fag about SKU so whatever.

>the political shit being the main thing it is remembered for kind of bums me out
I mean, Utena is inherently political, the focus is just different kinds of politics rather than the surface elements of character labels. I agree with you.

Pure cognitive dissonance. Same with Star Trek.

The story is at once small "p" political, in the sense of being about gender relations, religion, and social constructs, but it's also about big "P" Game of Thrones style politics in the sense of being about power games, backstabbing, manipulation, and deception

No it's not, and the revolution has nothing to do with politics. People consistently misinterpret Utena because they haven't read ancient Greek philosophy.

You're absolutely right, any real discussion of Utena needs to address its political messages. The title is political for Chrissakes. But a lot of the more "mainstream" coverage of Utena just stops at calling it a feminist/lesbian show when the show has a lot more nuance that.

Yes. One thing I think is interesting about the show, especially Anthy and Akio's relationship is how the personal politics can be applied on a larger scale. It's not exactly subtle, but it also isn't simple.

Wrong. The revolution refers to lots of stuff, but politics is definitely one of them.

It's shit

Pretty sure rejecting society norms in order to forge your own identity that goes outside of strict gender roles is pretty political.

Then please enlighten us on the correct way to interpret Utena, Socrates.

what the FUCK WAS THIS by comparison? A 1/10?

the moralfags are all just boring losers
really makes you think HUH

If Utena was released today, there'd be nonstop shitposting. Proof me wrong.

>not knowing how to separate art from artist
>not knowing how to enjoy works with opposing views
Low IQ

cute penguins/10

I'll never understand people who think PD is better than Utena

Attached: 1555115553137.jpg (960x720, 105K)

It's a flawed gem, and is underrated. Not as good as Utena but it is still a one-of-a-kind show.

Sarazanmai > Gay bears > PD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Utena

"The revolution" literally refers to breaking out of gender and societal roles, the fuck are you talking about

Tv series >>> movie.

Only on Yea Forums.

It doesn't feel like it's doing it to be forced agenda pushing, especially since it was made in the late 90s. It's just really out there and creative and more organic.

Revolution is just something that keeps rotating, but it keeps moving on their own axis without really moving.
So bring the world revolution is just being part of the status quo, never changing anything.
bitch ass nigga

Not disagreeing with you, but that's only one aspect of the revolution. Everyone's revolution is different and comes from within, Utena was revolutionary because she was able to inspire change in others as well.

Where else would it be? reddit? mal? pratically everywhere else you get banned for shitposting, especially the kind we're talking about.

You can do the first 3 and get the 4th so long as everyone is hot.

You piss off the ugly people then but can't win em all.

It's both at the same time. There's a lot of dualistic themes in Utena to the point where I think it was a very deliberate choice. I need to read some Hegel to see if Utena took anything from him.

Okay, fair, part of the revolution was people breaking out of their own shells and changing relationships. But a lot of that character change that was happening in the end was happening because they were breaking out of gender/social roles.

At least they're hot.

For some reason, Western dykes are ugly as shit.

Also true.

Anime Anthy looks like crap

Absolutely wrong.

Do not insult my goddess.

that scene made me ____cry

i love this pink retard

I find it more likely that it's an old show too few people have watched nowadays to get mad about. If this was made today things would be quite different. That being said, fans of anime are quite eager to leave people their spaces as long as it's clear that a certain work is not directed at them. People only get mad when there is friction between different ideas of aesthetics, e.g. a single show trying to pander to too many demographics or disappointing its audience's expectations. As long as you keep the various types of degeneracy separate from one another there will be peace. Western media have yet to understand this.

Because it's actually good and not just pandering for the sake of pandering.

How does he do it bros?

Attached: FB_IMG_1557342302856.jpg (690x518, 31K)

Just remembering that scene still gives me chills.

What degeneracies? Western media doesn't deal in /pol/shit.

>Male anime fans still like it
What? What kind of shitty consensus did you fucking take? I myself hated it. Fuck off.

>not just pandering for the sake of pandering.
But it's pandering for the sake of an agenda that is pandering and forced diversity that is pandering and an agenda for the sake of pandering?

>What degeneracies?
The various types of degeneracy that anime delivers to its audiences. I didn't mean it in a derogatory manner.

Anime tends to handle these things more tastefully then the west. I don't feel like I'm being talked down to by having it rubbed in my face or having the characters soap box. Carole and Tuesday may have been one of the most explicit lgbt content this season, but they never bother label it as odd or even label it at all.

Why are people even mad at two girls kissing?

Am I suddenly in the 80s?

Insecure male virgins who have never been kissed and never will be, projecting their insecurities by pretending to be tough online.

GROSS

are maybe because its they're ugly dykes just a guess

Found the triggered virgin.

OK but not even /u/fags like ugly women

(Yo/u/) don't belong here

Double Decker too.

Because a large part of modern Yea Forums posters were introduced to Yea Forums via /pol/ in 2016.

They look quite hot to me.

Too personal for you?

your newfaggotry and lack of awareness offend me too personally, not your inferences.

4/10
Sarazanmai is 1/10 so far. I'm sure the maestro's next masterpiece will be -10/10

The movie had amazing direction, animation and music, and arguably better Anthy design. I'd rather compare them

fuck off discord tranny you have your mentally ill /lgbt/ containment board
go 40% yourself

*AHEM* it's 41%.

WE GOTTA GO HIGHER.

Glad I avoided this then

I want to kiss her gently

I mean it was pretty bad

How can anyone hate Anthy? She looks so beautiful and fragile. Her only trouble is that she can't cook.

Actually most of the fans were male it was actually an old bit of drama when one of it's major fansites found out like only 1 mod in their whole team was female.

>old bit of drama
Emphasis on old. Again, what shitty consensus did you take?

Wew guess I dodged a bullet

The anime is like 20 years old so why wouldn't those decade old results be valid?

Because it explores a theme, instead of shoehorning in-your-face propaganda

Too bad it's repetitive and pretentious as fuck. Movie is better by miles but it doesn't get nearly as much respect.

Carole and Tuesday """"threads"""" are the lightning rods for the /pol/ and Yea Forums crossboarding shitposters

>How does he do it bros?
Yeah, how does one go from making a 10/10 masterpiece like Utena, to an 8/10 like Penguindrum to complete garbage like gay bears and gay frogs.

That brown ass. Damn.

Because the tv series does the whole exploring characters and themes a lot better without being so much in your face.

Because he's putting his efforts only into the style, not the storytelling. In Sarazanmai the visual language is not even that outstanding.

Just stop reading the Carole & Tuesday threads.

The repetition in Utena worked because it was a pastiche of the mahou shoujo genre in general.
Now in Yurikuma and Sarazanmai there's neither place nor time for that sort of thing but drones justify it by claiming "it's just based Ikuhara's style xD".
