Apparently Night Liches can only dominate weaker undead, and I'm not sure if dominated undead lose control over undead that they dominated.The more annoying thing is that if it's similar to vampiric spawn domination or an evil cleric's control undead ability, there is a cap on how many HD / levels' worth of undead you can control and any excess go free. Since each Night Lich presumably has a different HD/level equivalent, calculating the exact combination could be tricky. Also, it presents a major risk, what if someone disrupts the control somehow (in D&D a basic Protection From (Alignment) will do)? You'll have your trusted lieutenants running wild.
It works if you can inspire genuine loyalty, but that takes time and the approach usually has to be tailored to the individual.

It depends entirely on the setting. Overlord generally cribs from D&D 3.5e, but the key difference there is that wizards need to read spellbooks to prepare and cast spells, which they forget after casting, so they need to keep the books with them to prepare them again. With Overlord dropping spellbooks and spell preparation altogether, all we know is that wizards still have some vague intellectual bent to their magic, whereas sorcerers are all instinct.

In D&D terms you'd normally say Ainz is a sorcerer since he casts based on feel rather than knowledge, but in role playing terms he claims to have gotten it from studying, plus the main advantage of Wizards over other arcane casters in D&D is versatility since they can theoretically learn any number of spells (since it just takes studying for them) so you could say Momonga is playing a D&D wizard.

Linguistically speaking "wizard" somewhat strongly implies wisdom (a wiz-ard is wise like a drunk-ard is drunk) while sorcerer weakly implies divination (since it's based for a word for an oracle through lot drawing).

*Also you could argue his skills ARE rooted in study, although it's study of Yggdrasil mechanics rather than "real" magic.

In this volume, Ainz seems to consider Keeno's assumption that he must be another emotions-based caster a mistake, but one he's counting on to excuse his lack of theoretical magical knowledge.

Ainz strikes me as a Dread Necromancer. It casts like a sorcerer but knows every single necromancy spell (and very few besides it) and gains enough class abilities over 20 levels to become a lich. It is also not particularly powerful among the caster classes due to its monofocus and makes up for it by slowly dispensing lich attack abilities and auras throughout its career level to give it more of a punch. Obviously this is an oversimplification of Ainz's Ygg build but it strikes me that DN does seem to describe him and his abilities quite well.

Interesting. I like the way the author has made Ainz's actions increasingly reprehensible over time. I assumed early on that the author would take the easy way out and steer Ainz clear from being truly 'evil' but that's not the route he is taking at all. Although Ainz's internal monologue still doesn't make him seem like he's completely despicable, at this point his actions pretty much tell the final story.
It makes you wonder how it will all end. Will we see just a victory of evil over good? Or will the author raise up a hero to defeat him? I thought that might be Climb at one point, but he hasn't really been developing Climb that way as far as I can tell.

Pretty sure 2013/14 author tweeted that it would a happy ending but then later said Overlord would be having an open ending at volume 20 before he changed it to 18 recently.

People like that wouldn't be as strong when coming to NW if you think about it. Touch was awesome because he had crazy good reflexes, but since all physical attributes in player bodies are decided by stats he would lose that advantage. His reflexes would depend on his stats and there would be players who had stats around the same level. He would still have a big advantage as a world champion but he wouldn't be as unbeatable.

When not using Perfect Warrior, Ainz should be close to the same speed as Brain. Except, unlike Brain, he's much more capable of keeping up with Shalltear, despite being less skilled in his movements.
