The same reason reddit pictures black out names. Anonymity is beneficial when skirting around potential copyright shenanigans.
Furthermore, pirating anime/manga that is available is ethically wrong. It's not like the old days when your options were learn Japanese and pirate raws, download fansubs/translations, or don't watch/read anything. Nowadays it's more common for a show to be simulcast than not.
But Yea Forums doesn't care about ethics. We just want to be little girls doing cute things watching other little girls do cute things.
Just kidding it's because Reddit's layout is fucking shit for conversation and/or posting more than one picture. Why bother using Reddit as a shitty index system for imgur when you can post on an imageboard instead?
