I don't know how anyone could want to do a project like OPM the injustice that is presently being done. You have one of the better writers, one of the best mangakas, and are coming off the tail-end of one of the best animated seasons of anime of all time. Everyone before you has put in such a tremendous amount of time and effort, and you come along, get your hands on this passion project, and proceed to drop it on the ground and shatter it because it's heavier than you thought.

I get that animators are basically slave laborers in Japan. I understand that studios don't have all the time and money in the world, too. But it's just fucking incredible that someone thought it was a good idea to take something that had actual namesake, power, and prestige associated with it, as well as a patient and loyal following, and then actively tarnish everything that made the series alluring, from comedy to combat. Well, at this point, the thing that makes the series watchable is that it´s an action spectacle of style over substance, since the series lost its sense of parody since episode S02E01. The first season worked well as a parody of the superhero genre, with Saitama´s gimmick as the most obvious joke, and then it put fun spins on superhero cliches. By comparison, season 2 puts more empahis on the action and fight scenes, making the whole show a straightforward action show instead. Now everything has to be treated as a serious affair, Saitama getting to the top of the Hero Association seems like a goal you 'have to' follow rather than a plot point designed to make some jokes about how hero organizations could work in a different way, and for as goofy as almost every character looks, they 'have to' be followed rather than be laughed at.
And about the cast, Saitama´s lesser screentime in the show could work wonders for the bigger cast of this series, if said cast was more interesting. Most characters can only be identified by a certain gimmick, or are very generic, or have to have some little backstory to them. Given the fact that the show has less attempts at parody, the characters feel like afterthoughts rather than complements to the narrative. It doesn´t help that the cast is too big for all of its purposes. I can´t even care about one character before 2 more are shown. In the end, at least we have some decent action scenes and a show that wouldn´t get any better even with better produced action scenes.

I'm not taking any blame out of the fags who made this season, but does anyone feel like the content covered here just wasn't well suited for an anime? I'm referring to the episode format.

The arcs do have great moments and are an overall enjoyable experience, but the sequence of events doesn't translate well to make episodes with satisfying conclusions, and in the end it all feels like a long series of scens stitched together with bad transitions. S1 managed to give each episode something of a point, even if it was a two parter, but then again all the early arcs of OPM were short. Meanwhile all the events from Garou's appearance to the end of the MA arc are one long series of events.
