Surprisingly enough, it doesn't slow down once they start dating but around chapter 150. Then it picks up again with the time traveling arc and the old principal arc. The end was a bit of a drag though with all the "memories". The last few chapters could have easily been rolled into one.
Still, it's a pretty great manga. I held off for the longest time because I thought it was some monster girl drivel.

The first couple of volumes are a bit slow but once the comedy gets going, it's easily the most consistently funny romcom Japan's made.

I think that since she wasn't going to win the mangaka developed her earlier and gave her more depth compared to the main girl, dumpire. As such people ended up falling for alium more.
When the manga has a pre-selected winning girl from the start that is the mangaka's favorite it doesn't feel the need to sell her character as much because the mangaka already loves her and she's already going to win in the end anyway.
Dumpire is still absolutely amazing and great though, best tier still despite all this though.

He fleshes them out but the opening volume or so of Shounen Hachi... was not good. Jitsu Wa struggled with the early humour but was carried by it's art and weirdness.. Hachi had a much more vanilla setting and it struggled hard.
The scenario for his next series needs to be interesting enough to carry the early chapters or he needs to strengthen the humour that isn't based around interaction between established characters and running jokes.

With the students she would push them in the right direction and occasionally give them advice. It might have been in a roundabout way and full of teasing but it still had a positive effect.

Because losing the halo made her become a real angel, see . Prior to losing the halo she was an "angel" that looked down on humans and came down to earth to fight Akane. After losing the halo she became a demon (read: angel) that would help out those in need and only ask for their thanks in return.
You can't forget that Akane is clairvoyant and capable of controlling time (see:) and even inter-dimensional/cross timeline travel (end of time traveler arc). Everything Akane did ended up being for the better in the end. Some of it is even explicitly stated, like the athletic festival with the floating castle which exposed the students to supernatural phenomenon that made it easier to swallow non-humans being at school.

Really begins to drag after a while. Characters keep getting added and forgotten. I think the mangaka forgot that Shishido is a werewolf that switches between a male and female, and just began to write her as a succubus. Actual succubus Akane's character arc is all over the place. Yoko's dad turns into a girl and they do nothing at all with that. Time travel is introduced and convoluted itself so bad that it was probably the worst arc that went in a circle a dozen times. Best girl Aizawa confesses and is sidelined hard to the point of leaving the planet due to how irrelevant she became despite having the best character growth. Glasses girl arc dragged on for like 40 chapters and nothing came of it. The other girl who also turns into a boy gets forgotten early on after she separates from her brother. Really just too many characters, and no set goals. The mangaka needed to have more reason than creating characters for a one off joke or running gag.
