extremely blessed episode, makes me hope how much the suffering will increase in the last couple eps

Oh its definitely going to be. We're close to the endgame, this is just the calm before the storm.

I think by the time hyakki gets his eyes back it’ll be in line with the ED being crystal clear anyways.

If that’s male ill be very disappointed

It's all downhill from here for Hyakki.

nothing explicitly outright stated but iirc they said those 2 were "kyoudai" - which could be interpreted as siblings (1 male , 1 female)

As Tahomaru becomes more like his dad so do his eyebrows

It's a girl, in Japanese she and Hyogo are described as siblings with the kanji of (younger) brother and (older) sister. The source is a magazine article I have troubles to find at the moment.

is it gonna end that soon? oh no

7 episodes left.

Can we agree that the 'treasure arc' was a mistake?

I swear I thought she was going to get wounded by the rat and then they had to reveal her gender a la Mulan

She's not like Dororo. Everybody knew her gender from the beginning.

Has Jukai replaced Dororo as Hyakkimaru's mom?

What was the point of making Mai Mai Onba's new design so gorgeous if they were gonna show her just for a single scene of 2 minutes?

>NO DON'T KILL THE EVIL DEMONS
This shit is so fucking dumb, why are they forcing that fake moral conflict down our throat every episode? Just let him kill the demons for fuck sake, that's the point of the damn story.
And who cares about Tahoumaru fighting Master Splinter? That's a lot of set up for an obvious jobber.
This show is testing my patience every week, I'm just waiting for the end at this point.
Animation isn't even good anymore.

10 seconds of quality in exchange for a 9/10 episode is fine by me

:^)

isn't the land going to shit without the demons and Hyakkimaru's well being the major problems tho?

Thank you user. Only you could make Jobmaru look so kakkoi.

Now Dororo is free to be his girlfriend

What happens to every anime in the current sweatshop industry. Meeting deadlines becomes harder as the episodes go by (because focus is put in the first few so people won't run away), and thus QUALITY is needed to keep the show going. If you're lucky, they decided to focus on some important episodes towards the end and the show will look better.
Seriously. This isn't even that bad
Look at what happened in a single cour in another show youtu.be/UhmBnaEcbfA

>10 seconds of quality
QUALITY, not quality. The whole fight looks horrid.,

Is ok, is not proper to marry your mom

Attached: D5zPcdOUIAAq0p9.jpg (537x700, 97K)

Everything about that episode fucking hurts, especially how they absolutely butchered one of the best moments in the series. I'd hope that director guy would get blacklisted, but we all know he's just going to move on to the next show and shit it up too, just like he did with Gurren Lagaan.

Attached: Dororo v2 p259.png (1415x2000, 430K)

ED as in the end credits, newfriend, not the end of the series

You sound like a retard who should stick to BnHA, Kimetsu or simple shounens. Just killing demons isn't the point., And the show still looks fine. Not sakugafest, but not bad either

It doesn't. Doesn't look fine. But horrid was the moth episode. That was just average, and it was just a few seconds anyway.
You make it sound like it's a 15-minute fight filled with QUALITY

It really seems like people are forgetting that despite the series cramming it down everyone's throats during the first cour. The more human Hyakki becomes, the worse everything gets. Once he becomes fully human everyone loses.

well, his dad is shit

Only Daigo loses and his country will go back to being as shit as the rest of Japan like it was supposed to in first place. I'm pretty sure the people who don't get murdered by demons roaming everywhere actually lose.

If it goes to shit, maybe it should. It's nature
How big is Daigo's land anyway, what is the whole of Japan gonna turn into a wasteland if he gets his body back?

Wow that's bad

>How big is Daigo's land anyway, what is the whole of Japan gonna turn into a wasteland if he gets his body back?
Effectively, yes. He's didn't trade away both his and his firstborn son's soul just for some tiny bit of land.

At least they can fix it in the blu ray right?

Where's the bulge?

You can find those kind of production incidents in 90's anime too. Sure, the anime industry is shit, but people have very short memory if they think outrageous "quality" is something new.

It's the sengoku era. Daigo's land is probably confetti-sized like the rest of Japan.

Sure
Here's the same scene in BD youtu.be/msrS_uwHTGg

Fucking bullshit. He's fighting the demons to win back his body that was stolen from him. Plus you can't let demons run wild unless you want them to keep terrorizing humanity. Hyakkimaru is the hero we need but don't deserve. He will take back everything and live the life he chooses.

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Dororo - 17 [720p].mkv_snapshot_10.31_[2019.05.06_12.02.30].jpg (1280x720, 114K)

Artist pls senpai

Well those soldiers deserved death for what they did to Mio and the orphans. Hyakkimaru did nothing wrong. He was grieving for fucks sake.

Lotsa Hyakki panty shot this ep, it's great

Attached: 1552724239427.png (446x405, 191K)

I agree, anyway demons existed and will always exist, a single man can't think of exterminating all the demons that inhabit Japan.

Classic Mappa, content is still good though.

I know but what i'm saying is that the demons that have his body are still terrorizing humanity and nothing is stopping them from wrecking havoc on Daigo's land.

found it on twitter but don't remember the artist, sorry user

Attached: D2KYF9wUgAAM2Wo.jpg (899x1199, 219K)

No it will only help him to win back his body. Hell the next body part he might win back is his other leg so the prosthetic would be temporary. I hate everyone telling my boy Hyakkimaru that killing demons is bad and he will become the demons if he continues. I mean the man is trying to get back what was stolen from him and doesn't care if it effects the people benefiting from his sacrifice.

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Dororo - 17 [720p].mkv_snapshot_10.56_[2019.05.06_12.10.24].jpg (1280x720, 81K)

There's all kind of youkai, good and evil. But Hyakki is mainly trying to slay the big shots who stole his body. It's not an endless job and someone has to do it anyway because those guys are bad news.

why didn't Jukai mama give Hyakkimaru a proper leg when he was going to continue his quest anyway?

He has no dick.

youtube.com/watch?v=hi6b5LU4mmY

Because the writing is fucking retarded and since they're not following the manga they're forced to wing it.

Demons got it

>and doesn't care if it effects the people benefiting from his sacrifice.
Yeah, that's the problem.

Why did Jukai let him go in the first place if he's being such a moralfag now? This isn't gratifying to watch.

This was a tezuka episode. You can see it in the ed credits

Fuck them. Why should they prosper while Hyakkimaru grew up skinless, no limbs, eyes, nose, ears, couldn't feel, experience pain, or live as a normal human? That's not fair.

This so-called MC looks like a woman

I wonder if if wasn't better if he simply had died, the old lady would have spared him of a greater pain. He would be reincarnated into an animal, or a human if lucky.

It's a boy and yeah it's cuter than your waifu

He's just pretty

If you look closely at this scene Dororo's chest was darkened while she seems to want to cover herself with clothes, an attitude more feminine than usual on her

> A-hoe-maru burning rat mom and her kids alive

disappointed but not suprised

Meant for but did better

In this scene she's sewing Hyakkimaru's clothes. You can see the movement of her hand and the thread.

Jukai shouldn't teach morality lessons when he himself tortured and killed civilians for the samurai. At least Hyakki didn't do it because someone ordered him to, and he doesn't go killing innocents.

How does Hyakki know where Dororo is?

She's also adverting her eyes from Hyakki but in the ending shot her eyes meet kissu?

Attached: embarrassed.png (1920x1080, 1.72M)

Dunno but maybe he'll explain it next week. In the preview for next week it looks like he's saying something to Dororo and Itatchi.

cute!

>all this nuh don't slay the demons and samurai bullshit
I am disgusted beyond words

Nice catch! And looks like Hyakki is caressing her face here

He was following the horse's tracks but when heard about the prosthetics he made a quick stop

>Jukai shouldn't teach morality lessons when he himself tortured and killed civilians for the samurai
That's the entire reason he's doing it. He regrets it, and he doesn't want Hyakki to go through the same thing he did.
It's not that complicated mate.

Is Dororo/Hyakki a thing in the original? I wouldnt mind this ending since they are maturing together.

Wait, so is it implying he dies from that one fucking bite?

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Dororo - 17 [720p].mkv_snapshot_21.36_[2019.05.06_18.53.54].jpg (1280x720, 55K)

But how could he follow the tracks if he can't see them? I doubt he'd be able to feel them with just his one foot.

I really hope not. I don't think my heart can take Jukai dying.

Are you aware you're watching an anime about a guy who lived 16 years without limbs?

I guess he called him mother rather than father because only his mom cared about him while his father fed him to the demons?

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Dororo - 17 [720p].mkv-00_20_53error255.png (1280x720, 653K)

He's being overly prude about it, he should be able to at least differentiate when it's right to do so and when it's wrong.

It could also be that he's learned from Dororo that "mamas" are the ones that take care of the children. They feed them and cloth them and basically do all the things Jukai did for him.

I doubt it. More likely he gets demonified and Hyakku has to kill him.

Attached: D55wOWXU0AEJ2EP.jpg (1199x848, 204K)

>didn't end up making a new leg for his son

I was expecting him to just regrow a leg after killing the tree

No, Mappa had all the time and talent but chose to fuck over dororo for their gayshits.

The demon didn't attack him in the beginning of the episode because it thought he was dead (because he was dead inside).
Meeting Hyakki brought some much needed healing to his life. The demons then started seeing him as living.
C'mon bro they even spell it out to you.

Attached: 1536927226794.png (1280x720, 870K)

I liked the first half of the series but the second half has really dragged so far and has felt very random. Why was the male artist turned into a woman when being resurrected by the demon statue? How did those sharks kill people on land (blood everywhere in the town)? Why have the moth demon 2-parter when the focus was just on her husband who is just a knockoff of Daigo, a guy just doing what he can to protect his domain?

I understand that user, it's just the bit where he says he's now "allowed to die" that threw me off.

You're not Kampfer tier dense but you're certainly close

Attached: 1549181389351.gif (230x230, 1.27M)

>He's being overly prude about it
He's fucking dead inside, what the fuck do you expect? He's not some wise old advise guy, he's just some guy living a life full of regret. He has nothing, and the last thing he wants is for pretty much the only thing left he loves to not make the same mistakes as him.
If anything, it would be terrible writing if he was being smug like he's some kind of all knowing god.

the only thing I remember about Kampfer is that it involved genderbender stuff. and that a friend tricked me into watching it by claiming it's super good but needs a couple episodes before it really takes off

>fruit ninja

cutest executioner

Attached: proudmom.jpg (416x403, 20K)

Not how it works. That lies on the director and the production comittee. Not a "Mappa" entity.
Also. Sarazanmai is only on episode 4. Call me if it looks good by episode 17. Oh wait, you can't because it's only 11 episodes, which means it's easier to make most of the show look good because it's half the work. (That's also why movies 99% of the time are better quality than TV shows. Less work needed means you don't need to spread focus as much)

All you need to know is that the MC is memetically famous for being the most extreme example of dense harem MC.

Sarazanmai was finished last year, there's nothing to do with Dororo.

The amount of post is directly proportional to the screentime of Dororo

Attached: 74599690_p9.jpg (633x1199, 328K)

We figured preeeeetty early what were the 12 parts gonna be cmon guys we know dick is missing. He'll get it eventually

There are also a bunch of kishin that just... didnt get a part. There are more than 12 kishins

I was pretty surprised when he got his spine back
never thought about the spine

Thanks for proving me right, then, about Sarazanmai looking good not being at the cost of making Dororo look worse

Why does Daigo-sama have such a bad case of Resting Bitch Face?

Master Splinter in this episode and Street Sharks in the next, what's next? Dinosaucers or Biker mice form mars?

Attached: latest[3].png (414x566, 122K)

as I saw that rat and got to the backstory I thought the merchant and his kids were turned into rats and Tahomaru killed them all

That episode was embarrassing

Hyakkimaru, I...

Attached: handsom.jpg (350x230, 16K)

Yeah, I wasn't arguing against you if that was what it looked like. Dororo also is being split with Tekuza, which sucks because keeping a linear quality with different staffs is impossible. Ikuhara reuses a lot of shots too, it's a whole different thing. Comparing both shows is dumb. I don't care that much with drop in quality if the story holds, in my opinion every week is being an awesome experience. I don't know if I'm too old to care about perfect shots all the time or I'm sympathetic because I work in the similar shit, but I know everything that airs on TV is gonna be flawed. I bet every user complaining here gives zero cents to those who are overworking their asses to make anime. Not trying to play the moralfag, but you all should stop being so full of shit.

Tezuka Production and Dr. Movie. That's what.

>He would be reincarnated into an animal, or a human if lucky.
Don't kid yourself his soul would have been taken by the demons.

Wait a minute. If the deal has been broken off, in episode 12, Hyakkimaru killing demons and getting back his body shouldn't have any effect on Daigo's land anymore.

Attached: 94.png (1280x720, 474K)

That doesn't make sense either way since the deal was never with the goddess.

>call best dad "mama"
>best dad's reaction
I'm not crying... but I need a hug.......

How long they've must been dead.

>Dororo is going to be a staple of QUALITY threads from now on
It didn't have to be this way.

Demons ate them.

But the Goddess prevented the 12th demon from taking Hyakki's head and sacrificed her own head, maybe the 12th was fine with that?
I think that the remaining kishin are arbitrarily keeping Hyakki's body parts on a whim at this point.

really did make up for that crap episode 15.. better than expectations of their reunion and expanding on their relationship from the source material. and did well working with needing to explain some plot points to the audience, where the manga had done it in the first few chapters. solid episode worthy of a rewatch.

The moth guy was a smaller scale case to show where Hyakki stands on the issue as-is. If it's necessary for his body quest to kill the demons and wreck Daigo's land right in front of him, bringing famine upon thousands, he'll sprint at the opportunity. And mothman was somewhat more pure-hearted than Daigo on where his motivations come from, but deals with demons are all a house of cards in the end regardless.

>"No... there is somebody."

Based Dororo-chan.

Episode 15 was better than most episodes in the second cour.

>so dead inside even demon doesn't want you
Guess I'm safe.

exactly. and she talked about her mom more often than anyone when it came to a caretaker and being loved.
this whole episode did well displaying hyakki's lack of vocabulary still, which is welcome because he should still be wonky while communicating with words. I'm glad they didn't forget.

Why the fuck did she hesitate? People feel bad for ayakashi babies now?

I waited a whole week for shark boy.

Attached: 1513205244340.jpg (742x742, 58K)

I'm sure I could even befriend them.

>Also Hyakkimaru smiled more this episode than any other, even the Mio ones
as he should since this is the person who cared for him for 16 years. it was worth the wait. especially after the heartache of finding biological family who wants him dead. and he said the same thing to hyakki as his mom did so there is another notch for why he would consider him mama.

Next week is the second part of the arc.

Also do you think Tahoumaru is going to die this time?

I thought he sounded a bit dumber than previous episodes.

It would be fun if he gets BTFO again.

Ready to job with style

Here I was hoping he'd get a leg upgraded with a cannon this time around.

This really was a beautiful episode. Great way to regain my faith in this series after how horrible they handled the Moth arc. Hyakki calling him "mama" was incredibly silly, but cute in Hyakki's own stunted way. Great episode, I liked it.

Though I really don't get the ending. Demons suddenly acknowledge Jukai because Dororo knows his name... wut?

This can't be coindidence, right? It has to be on purpose.

Wasted character design. At least with Ohagi we got one really good episode out of it.

Attached: 1417098352806.gif (346x346, 339K)

how are people missing this point? he's not being overly heavy about it.
hyakki is the only person he's had for years, thinking he probably rescued for good, just to see him going to suffer more and feeling responsible for it. he doesn't want to see him become a monster, in the same way dororo doesn't. basically doesn't want to see his son become like he did.

*doesn't know his name but acknowledges him. Still, doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I'm just a brainlet.

do we have a bunch of new seed watchers or what

I know Jukai meant well, but the double standards annoy me a little.
When Jukai give Hyakki the arm blades was he expecting him to use them to catch some fish? I mean, you send your 'son' to kill the evil demons that stole his body and then you act surprised because all he learned to do in his short life is slaying and annihilating the shit out of demons?

Attached: dororo-03.png (1020x573, 696K)

He literally says why the demons are interested in him now (because he feels alive again after meeting Hyakki again)
Brainlet confirmed

He was a walking dead man (metaphorically) until Hyakkimaru called him mom. And he finally felt purpose and joy again.
The demons saw him as a dead person because that is how he saw himself.

>because he feels alive again after meeting Hyakki again
this is so retarded

He probably simply didn't think of the effect of Hyakkimaru's only motivation for living is killing demons would have on his psyche or soul.

I guess that kinda makes sense. But yeah, I know I'm a brainlet and tend to miss these things when watching anime that are deeper then "Uguuu~ my pantsu are so kawaii~". Sorry.

Mutsu is a girl, right?

yes

he had more things to string together and explain in this episode since dororo isn't around to jump in and do most the talking. it's something the writers should have kept track of, but I ain't mad since they didn't completely drop it and make him have a great vocabulary now.
he sounded like the damaged child he is that was robbed of naturally development at a young age.

Yes.

Attached: 姉弟.jpg (635x482, 83K)

I think this is all just a justification to give hyakimaru a debuff

confirmed no understanding of depression, parenthood, and the will of living

It's too late now, at least he is relieved that Hyakki has a person close to him who will keep him human.

I'm far from an expert about the language, but this is what I like about Japanese: how precise it is when it comes to familial relations.
>Separate words for older brother, younger brother, older sister and younger sister
>The characters in the word "siblings" shows whether they're two brothers, two sisters or a brother and a sister
Good shit.

at least you understand your limitations instead of just saying "I don't get it so it's bad writing" like some do. so kudos, user.

this anime is absolute trash

it was just because they got the TTGL in , that episode is the only one id call offensively bad

>Look at what happened in a single cour in another show
that's basically an audiobook with illustrations

He's basically trying to die since forever

>Hyakkimaru being affectionate to Dororo next ep

finally

Attached: 18pv.jpg (540x304, 29K)

In the flashback episode that dealt with him, he said something about not being allowed to die because that would be too easy for him after all that he has done. Which is why he repents by putting body parts onto dead bodies.

When he realizes how Hyakkimaru thinks of him he thinks that maybe he has done good after all.

Isn't this person an eunuch?

exactly. it's only adapted a few source materials questionably, and that's more a matter of taste to the viewer and manga readers. and then one episode with overall notably bad work. it ain't that deep, but speds are bored.

yes, read thread above for answers.

Dude, I'm a brainlet but even I didn't miss this shit.
>This shit is so fucking dumb, why are they forcing that fake moral conflict down our throat every episode?
Jubai expressed his concerns pretty early in the episode: the easy and beastliness with which Hyakkimaru kills makes him (rightfully) believe that he has also killed humans before. Which is a lot bigger deal than just killing objectively evil demons. Jubai, the old priest, Dororo... they're all worried that killing has become second nature to Hyakkimaru and that he will eventually become a "demon" himself, far worse than the ones he kills.

>And who cares about Tahoumaru fighting Master Splinter?
What was important wasn't the fight, but how he ended it: he deliberately chose to keep the mother alive while he burned the old house down, to ensure the children would stay with their mother. While this isn't an evil act (they're demons after all), it's kind of a dick move. More importantly, it's Tahomaru putting his money where his mouth is: his emotions no longer cloud his mind. While it is the 'right' thing to do, it also sets him up as a ruthless opponent to Hyakkimaru who won't let his guard down a second time.

Attached: 1526705026270.png (194x335, 33K)

what makes you think that?

Don't forget that the first 4 episodes of Sarazanmai were made by Lapin Track, Ikuhara's studio, not MAPPA.

Nailed it.

Attached: 34324233231232.jpg (852x926, 159K)

So is this the first episode to not have Dororo in it aside from the OP and ED?

How did Hyakkimaru know Dororo was on the island?

>While this isn't an evil act (they're demons after all), it's kind of a dick move
so, goblins life matter, right?

Yes.

Pretty person with low girl voice doing a man's job and serving an aristocrat. Eunuchs never were a thing in Japan, only in some Confucian countries. But who knows

to have the plot move forward. big plothole tbqh. we saw itachi and his gang take days to get there while hyakkimaru teleports there and goes towards something he can't even see

It's a woman.

Nah mate. It's more like the Purge of Stratholme in Warcraft 3 if you're familliar with that. Not completely off the deep end, but certainly foreshadowing what's to come.

Attached: maxresdefault[1].jpg (900x720, 75K)

>姉弟
Kyoudai can be just "brothers"

Dude: gone

Attached: 1533661964496.png (1920x2159, 3.46M)

I guess he got back to the road he was following before he decided to go meet Jukai. Or as some user suggested he's following the horse's tracks.
Yes, but look at the kanji: 姉 is "ane" (older sister). Hyogo can't be the girl, so it's obviously Mutsu.

Hyakkimaru called the doctor mama because he was acting like a bitch.

This is also the first time we got to see his limbs from his own perspective. Guess the green stuff color (which we also saw in the statue of the goddess of mercy... and then fade from it) means someone putting their hopes in it or something?

What was the point of him not giving Hyakkimaru a leg? It's obvious he's gonna fight demons either way.

What a fucking asshole.

don't defile a pure and beautiful moment, you dick.

I don't get why both his retainers were shocked he wanted to burn the house with giant man eating rat babies. What do they think is gonna happen a year from now when 6+ of these things are running around?

I'm all emotional again
thanks

Everything is directly his fault. Like, why the fuck would you give him sword arms and train him for years if killing demons wasn't expressly what you wanted him to do? Then he has the fucking nerve to wax about what a monster he's become.

Like, the dude didn't try to give him any skills that would let him have some semblance of a normal life.

I -feel- you're a man of culture as well

user, 姉弟 is a full word that just means siblings. It can be both. The only other word for siblings is sisters (姉妹 - "shimai"). Not all words you can break down like that.

It was to stay true to his principles. What a fag.

>"dude Hyakki you killed HUMANS, that's, like, so bad"
>the people he killed were soldiers that burned down an orphanage and murdered children
Jukai is seriously retarded.

We saw them in episode three as well. Pic related is him holding that little pouch (which is also green). The has faded a bit, seems more yellowish now. Perhaps to signify him loosing divine protect from the Goddess since that was also green?

Attached: hyakki crest.png (540x304, 69K)

I got your point, ignore

>why the fuck would you give him sword arms and train him for years if killing demons wasn't expressly what you wanted him to do?
I'm not that much of a fan of his lecture either, but you are missing two things: It was not only about Hyakkimaru killing demons, but humans as well. Second did he not know back then when he gave him the sword arms that killing demons would lead to more suffering. He didn't know Hyakkimarus full backstory.

he could have handled things better, but at the end of the day he's just a concerned mom

he could have just given them a quick death by decapitation or something, not burn them alive

Attached: D1-kO38UkAAWAe2.jpg (550x674, 133K)

liking Mitsu is not gay, user
It's okay

but does he know that? Do you think Hyakkimaru told him about what happened with Mio? I think Jukai was just speculating that Hyakkimaru has killed peopled based off of how brutally he killed that demon.

they don't like how he's changing and using a wounded mother for bait to burn its children to death instead of a quick death. it contrasts his last hunt for the ghoul.

Yeah, what an useless adoptive father.
>now that you're on your way and i can't stop you i decided not to help
>love you though
>try not to die, you gimp fuck

This thread sure is full with braindead edgy 14 year olds.

never bothered watching it because dororo is female

I think that it's actually pretty cool that when he got exposed to the concept of parenting he figured out that "mother" is the one who's on his side helping him, and "father" and the rest are those who are against him. So he called that dude "mother" because he's not hostile.
I hope that it's what it was actually, not just some dumb ass joke.

>He didn't know Hyakkimarus full backstory.
This basically. Jukai was intepreting Hyakkimaru's actions based on the moment he saw him killing that ghoul, and he read too much into it.
On the other hand Hyakki isn't even able to tell him about his journey in detail, as he still has poor communication skills.

Because we're having actual discussions instead of shitposting or posting barely hentai fanart of moe girls?

I don't recall seeing so many brainlets at once in a dororo thread. sure, seen debates and mad about bad animation, but not this pure level of retardation needing to be spoon fed what happened in one single episode and getting mad about it.

Like putting my face next to an anus and breathing deeply.

>tfw Hyakkimaru has a trans mom and a trans dad
They really are keeping up with Tezuka´s degeneracy

Why do you assume the scenes happened concurrently? That slideshow last ep with Itachi riding around with Dororo could have been a week of traveling for all we know. Today's ep could have happened immediately after Dororo and Hyaki separated.

I see, so you're a fan of shota then.

Hyakki finally arrives and finds Dororo starving to death.

Would you fuck Splinter-okasan, Yea Forums?

It's possible that the leg he ruined was the last one he had. I think Jukai would have carved him a new one if Hyaki wasn't in such a rush to leave and find Dororo. Hyaki will get his leg next ep, so no big deal.

Damn, Dororo will be flatchested and short forever if she doesn't eat well.

Still keeping the boy illusion.

Did Doctor Jack Black ever make anyone trans, or am I mixing it up with Franken Fran?

Lotta lolicons picked the show up after screenshots of last episode were posted.

Why did Jukai stop making prosthetics for anyone, leading the people to steal them from the corpses?

And why does Hyakki perceive himself in a green color similar to that of the goddess?

>leading the people to steal
You what?
>why does Hyakki perceive himself in a green color
Hyakki is a very good boy.

I thought he just made them for both the living and dead, and the one's who steal them are thiefs who can sell them for money or rice

>leading the people to steal
as can be seen in the first minute of the episode

Those were battlefield scavengers. They take whatever they can find that people would be willing to trade money and/or food for.

The crippled man asked him why he's wasting the prosthetics on the dead instead of helping the living, implying he doesn't craft them for the living anymore. He's also living in a cave instead of his house. What led him to this?

I think the green represents the will of Buddha and that explains why he can use those prosthetics so efficiently.

kudos user.

He sees inanimate objects as green, animals and humans are gray.

FUCK the sculptor

>Like, why the fuck would you give him sword arms and train him for years if killing demons wasn't expressly what you wanted him to do?

He was fine with him killing Ghouls because the Ghouls were hunting him down and trying to kill him, remember the mountain of bodies? He knew they'd keep hunting him. But he is EXTREMELY jaded about killing people due to his past and doesn't want the poor boy to deal with that. Its easy for him to see ghouls as the issue, but learning how he got his body back and what it costs the world to get it back means he knows that this isn't going to be about Ghouls, people will try and kill him to keep their land pretty. He's seen what happens when someone fights to preserve their way of life and how twisted they become.

While Hyakkimaru is having a nice "mother" and son moments, Doror is gangraped offscreen by bandits (when their boss is not looking)

not enough cute girls doing cute things?

How hard is Hyakkimaru going to mating press Dororo when they finally reunite?

made me laugh

Are you fan with trannies pushing "Dororo is trans" too?

Bandai and moth woman got fucked. The anime just shits on their cool(er) transformations.

>Weird that in a pseudo-realistic historical show there are women in positions they couldn't have been historically
Considering the east had notorious empresses, what? They could have obtained those positions of power, though normally not with the ease that men did, because the state was not using the leader as a mere figurehead like in latter China, Britain and Europe or even Egypt.
I normally dislike gender bending in historical shows. It simply did not happen. If a women became prominent they are usually recorded as women, not men. Even Egypt recorded female usurpers as female. Roman female controllers are recorded as the controller of the male emporer in place (see Elagabalus).
The only exception to that would be civilisation so ancient it was barely recorded correctly at all, like Mesopotamia. Otherwise history has been surprisingly particular about the sex of an individual and any potential ambiguities. Hell, Alexander's male eunuch concubine was noted as androgynous in particular in ancient times, not in modern interpretation.

this was so good, lovely how it's communicated, well directed...
and wait, isn't there a scene in the preview for part 2 that has hyakki grap dororo and rub their foreheads together? I shall weep again...

extremely wholesome, love Jukai and Hyakkimaru's headbutt of love

It has occult though. Yea Forums loves occult when it is done well and this is occult done well.
I think I was hesitant to try this because I mistook it for yaoi pandering. In fact it's just a plain serious show with occult (well from what I've seen so far).
I was really mislead by the "cover". In reality this show is more like Shinsekai Yori to me now that I'm watching it in that it takes traditional japanese settings and adds an element of eerie dystopia to it with the demons. With SSY it looked like a trad Jap setting, but was really a dystopian future. Dororo isn't in the future, but rather it is in a dystopian fantasy world. I think Kimetsu no Yaiba does this well too, but not to the level of grittiness Dororo does.

are they really pushing for Dororo x Hyakkimaru?

How bad is it that even man eating monsters think you're just a dead man walking?

Empresses in Japan were regents, not actual monarchs ruling in their own right. Women cannot legally inherit the throne in Japan, only a male heir can. There have been numerous instances where no male heirs of proper age were around though, which is why the Japanese have gotten very good at inventing new positions and titles capable of acting on the Emperor's behalf.

But that's pretty much irrelevant, since this is about samurai, not the Emperor, and that's a very different set of rules. Mutsu's position is not just unusual, it's basically unheard of. Women born to samurai families are samurai as far as their social status is concerned, but not warriors in the way samurai men are warriors, i.e. it's not their primary duty, they aren't expected to go fight in battles. So Mutsu being a warrior retainer for the daimyo's son is extremely unusual if she/he is a woman, it's not that it couldn't happen, it's just not done among samurai.

Depends on whether the channel is filled. There is a minor fault I believe between the two lands. Otherwise it is joined by the doggerland to Europe.

Doesn't matter regardless 2bh.

>Empresses in Japan were regents, not actual monarchs ruling in their own right
I'm talking more China than Japan. Empress Wu comes to mind.
I'm not too familiar with Eastern history before 1600 though.

>So Mutsu being a warrior retainer for the daimyo's son is extremely unusual if she/he is a woman, it's not that it couldn't happen, it's just not done among samurai.
Oh, I see.
I've heard stories about women fighting in many wars by pretending to be a man. Pretty sure Jannu started like that.

What kind of a shitty okkachin sends his son out to fight demons with a crutch? Just give him a damn leg.

>mistook it for yaoi pandering

how so?

China is even more irrelevant to this situation than the Imperial court in Japan. What works in China doesn't really have any bearing for what works in Japan, especially not in the sengoku jidai. It's not that Mutsu couldn't be a woman and also be a really good archer, that could conceivably happen since samurai families did sometimes train their daughters in weapons, but mainly out of tradition or for self defense in case the family castle was under attack and they needed to defend it, serving as a military retainer wasn't done.

Small signs like the character designs and the lack of females.
It was a mistake though.

>China is even more irrelevant to this situation than the Imperial court in Japan. What works in China doesn't really have any bearing for what works in Japan, especially not in the sengoku jidai.
I suspected that might have been the case. Need to read up on that.

> serving as a military retainer wasn't done.
This I don't agree with because we've had many women disguise themselves as men to fight in the west. Surely that must have happened a little in Japan.
Not as much as people exaggerate today though. It would have been very rare.

I mean sure, maybe it happened? I don't recall any famous stories about women pretending to be samurai though. In Jean d'arc she never pretended to be a man, she was put in charge of armies after convincing many important nobles in France that she was basically a new prophet hearing god's voice.

If there was ever a time for a woman to pass as a male samurai it would be the sengoku jidai though, because social status was more fluid back then, it hadn't yet been set in stone and you had peasants becoming samurai left and right.

It's not himself, he perceives objects like his arm as green.

Yeah, I liked the part where Bandai was shittalking Hyakki and he just killed her without giving a fuck

>This I don't agree with because we've had many women disguise themselves as men to fight in the west.
Yeah except this isn't like that at all. This isn't just disguising as a common soldier, this is a retainer. A retainer is a personal bodyguard and companion to a VIP, in this case it's the daimyo's only son and heir, so basically Mutsu is in a position of supreme trust and confidence, a position of incredibly high honor. It's not something just anybody could get into, there's no way any peasant-born samurai could get into this position unless he like saved Daigo's life and he thought he wast he best guy ever, or something, no, most daimyo would handpick their heir's retainers from among the most prestigious bloodlines and most talented scions of those bloodlines.

He needs to get his dick back first.

thanks user!
looks like they're by water too. so could be the next episode, after it being given to him as a new way to communicate affection to those he cares about.

>In Jean d'arc she never pretended to be a man
I think that maybe was not the case until it became too well known. Then her being a female actually became a tool propaganda wise. She did disguise herself regardless.
As I said, this would be extremely rare if it did happened without it being like Jean though. You wouldn't find records to prove it too. That's the problem. You may find it in myths though.

>A retainer is a personal bodyguard and companion to a VIP
Wouldn't you think a female in this role would be ideal to be both a guard and a potential intimate interest?
You really think that never happened?
I mean the person coordinating it would have to have kept mouths shut of course, but it's still rather likely given the convenience a VIP would have with having a lover as a guard. Think leverage through love and loyalty perhaps. Just hope she isn't a femme fatale.

It's pretty much impossible for Mutsu to be in disguise because her position is that of a handpicked retainer. Daigo wouldn't just pick some random rank and file guy to guard and be a companion to his only son and heir, you can bet he vetted the backgrounds of Hyogo and Mutsu thoroughly. Typically retainers are picked from known samurai families of good social standing, because retainers have to be with the heir always, that means going out in public and to social functions too, so they can't be anybody disreputable or they'd cast shame on the family.

Mutsu being a woman isn't impossible, it's just very, very exceptional, to the extent that there would have to be an interesting story as to why she is in the position she is in.

Cute. CUTE

>Mutsu being a woman isn't impossible, it's just very, very exceptional, to the extent that there would have to be an interesting story as to why she is in the position she is in.
It would have to require something very romantic (and problematic to the system).

I love how Aniki is so adorable and has such a cute face but he's really both smart and ruthless. Nice mix

Of course he didn't give a fuck, he couldn't hear her.

It doesn't matter how "good a fit" it is, what I told you earlier about samurai being different apparently didn't sink in, so I'm going to restate it: women samurai were not treated as warriors. Even if they knew how to fight, they were never treated as warriors. They had completely separate duties. Being a warrior was the duty of men. To have a woman serve as a retainer would be improper as fuck, a huge breach of tradition and etiquette.

That's not to say it couldn't happen, just that it would be so outrageously, notoriously exceptional there's absolutely no way history would not record the instance of it. Literally every minor outrage committed by Oda Nobunaga was recorded for posterity and he didn't do anything a quarter as outlandish as appoint a woman to a trusted retainer role.

this episode felt really gay

No not even. Mutsu is probably close to Tahomaru in age. Typically retainers are selected to be close to the age of the person they protect, so they can also serve as lifelong companions. This is why their bloodline is important, you want your heir to have friends from good families, not lowlifes. In general though. Conceivably, you could see somebody of low status getting in that position if they somehow forged a strong relationship with a daimyo despite being of ignoble birth and the daimyo was an eccentric who didn't cleave too strongly to tradition (i.e. Oda Nobunaga appointing Toyotomi Hideyoshi to samurai retainer status despite him being a lowborn peasant, but Nobunaga is perhaps the most infamous maverick daimyo in history).

Hyakkimaru spends most of the episode almost completely naked in a cave together with a burly man. What's gay about that?

>taho
Such a cutie when his soul was pure, why Tezuka why

I swear Dororo puckered up for a second there.

he's squishing her face (when she's a little older tho...)

>a father ruins two sons without lifting a finger
he can't keep getting away with it

>a mother and his son is gay

Holy fuck, you're an idiot. The point is him throwing away his humanity entirely to reach his goals, just like his father. If he's willing to do these kind of scum tactics on monsters, what's going to stop him from doing this to actual people later on? Not much, considering how evil Daigo himself is.

Not him, but humens aren't literally aggressive cannibalistic vermin who it is impossible to reason with, like those rat yokai were.

I may not have caught it but did Jukai give Hyakki a new leg?

no, he destroyed the only leg he had left. seems the preview shows a bit of spoilers on what (obvious) part he gets back next.

Hyakki was still on stilts when he walked into the sunset?

>not him
>only to make the exact same GS comparison
Sure user. Again, you completely miss the point.

>Hyakki's mom tries to stop him from killing Tahomaru with the mama card
>he looks at her and says not mama before slicing off Taho's head

It's a pretty accurate comparison to make.

> Jukai seriously didn't give Hyakkimaru another leg

Aw fuck off, if you were going to send him down that path + you knew he had someone important to him that would keep him human why not fucking follow through and help him when he needs it.

As it stands Hyakki could've just nicked one from the battlefield anyway, but still.

beautiful

I forgot how his mother learnt his name. Wasn't it given to him by the prosthetics guy?

Tahomaru says it in front of her, I believe.

I don't know how but I almost always seem to miss this stuff when watching the actual episodes. Well except for that one scene from the moth episode, even I couldn't miss that.

>How did those sharks kill people on land (blood everywhere in the town)?
Watch the PV for the next episode user.

He knew Hyakki needed to learn to stand on his own two feet

Attached: Now he can dance.png (897x681, 521K)

he's asian

If he killed the mother then the babies would likely scatter leading to some escaping and causing trouble later. Burning the house down with them all there was the most pragmatic choice

were the baby rats even demons?

Tahomaru and his mom deserve a death worse than Daigo. At least Daigo was honest about being an asshole from the start. The others waited until they saw a crippled boy struggling to live. Daigo needs to watch everything he has burn to the ground alone.

well considering the size of them, that the rat demon was feeding them, and that they said they were the rate demon's children...

I don't really get why the mom considered herself as partly responsible for what happened to Hyakki at the start though.

I mean she had nothing to do with the deal, Hyakki was forcibly taken from her while she was weak, and she thought he was dead the whole time up till the point where he shows up.

So why did she suddenly go "Husband, this is OUR fault'? I get feeling guilt after making the realisation that she 'can't' help him otherwise others will suffer during the confrontation at the wall, but not before that.

Depending on the environment, rats can get pretty damn big, and yeah I get that they're the demons children but nothing about them really seemed demonic, they didn't even really seem sentient at all, they weren't doing much of anything when the parent one got fucked up.

Attached: 421`4215`.jpg (590x350, 52K)

It's her fault because she prayed to the god. If she didn't pray then Hyakki would have died at birth and everything would have been fine eventually for the country. She would have gotten over a dead kid with no head instead of a kid that just completely disappeared. Praying meant that Hyakki suffered trying to live and the country also suffers because of him.

But again, she had no idea about that kind of shit, she only prayed for her child to live, and that was before the curse even activated, she had no idea of the consequences and really shouldn't be held accountable in any way for her wish, which at the time would be something that any mother would want.

>I don't really get why the mom considered herself as partly responsible for what happened to Hyakki
she's a mother with a heart, so she would consider herself to blame regardless

Like I said, I get her thinking that after what happened at the gate since she basically admitted that the lives of the people be put over the life of her child, but not really before that. Her 'part' in the beginning was completely innocent, she begged the gods that he be okay before Hyakki was even cursed.

> Bad shit is happened again now that the demons don't have hyakki to feed on
Why can't Daigo get some random person off the street to sacrifice instead? Do demons only want the bodies of babies as a sacrifice? Surely there would even be people ((like Jukai)) who would be WILLING to sacrifice their own bodies to keep shit nice and happy?

Daigo or Tahomaru could probably swap themselves in since the deal was specifically about offering Daigo's shit. But why would they want to sacrifice themselves when they have some kid that's not them do it for them and once he's dead everything is solved. I could see an ending where they finally realize they can't stop Hyakki and end up altering the deal and get decapitated by the final demon when they expected to just lose one thing.

user, that's because a first-borne son is far more valuable than some rando on the street. There's reason why the worst plague of Egypt was the one who killed all the first-borne males.

why are people so assmad about the animation all of a sudden? not counting episode 15 of course that was garbage. dororo's always had average-to above average animation with some QUALITY shots

Less for Daigo's sake but more for Tahomaru and the mom who realise that shit WILL get bad if someone isn't sacrified and see Hyakki as an unfortunate holder of the burden.

Just thinking that if a sacrifice HAD to be made they could more easily find someone who is willing to die for that peace rather than forcing it on a teenager who just got the shit end of the stick.

> user, that's because a first-borne son is far more valuable than some rando on the street.
Maybe if Daigo had shown ANY care at all for what happened to his first-born instead of just flippantly going "its okay he never existed you can just have another one" I'd agree to that idea, but since Daigo has no apparent emotional attachment to the kid I don't see why anyone else wouldn't do as a replacement.

She felt guilty to live in opulence at the expense of her child well-being even if it wasn't her choice.

Again, that had nothing to do with her involvment in what happened to Hyakkimaru.

All she did was wish ((before the curse even activated)) for her son to be safe, she didn't know anything about the deal Daigo made until after all that shit went down and even then, she was lead to believe that the child had died anyway. Yet even before the whole wall incident she treats it like her and Daigo are both responsible for what happened, like 'they' did it, instead of the mom and hyakki both being unwillingly swept up in Daigo's selfish wish.

Marriage is serious business, Daigo's sins are her sins.

I don't get why the big guy thinks it's wrong to burn down the house along with the demon rat and it's kids.

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Dororo - 17 [720p].mkv_snapshot_19.39.jpg (1280x720, 152K)

Because he's a proto-libertarian and respects private property.

I think he just had an empathetic moment knowing that the demon was only killing people to feed its kids, and maybe that the kids themselves didn't exactly look demonic anyway, only like big rats.

He was going to crush their skulls one by one before Tahomaru ordered them to burn down the house, so I doubt that.

>dororo meets jukai one day
>hyakki calls "mama"
>dororo's mfw
where the fanarts

This episode was annoying me with all the 'don't kill demons' shit but this more than made up for it.

No he wasn't, he only ever went after the parent, even before Tahomaru said to burn the place he only said that he would slay 'it', aiming at the monster one. I don't think either of the aides were planning on killing the kid rats.

Why is Dororo gets darker than when 60s is was time?

>fail to protect your child from literal demon scum
>continue to fuck man who sold your child to demons
>continue to enjoy wealth that is directly related to the son you lost because of your husband
i mean, it is only natural to feel guilty

Did the dad die? He got bit by that ghoul im assuming it was venomous?

This. The only thing Tahomaru did wrong was being Daigo's son.

Why would you assume that?

what was the point of that then? he'll make a new leg not for hyakkimaru but for himself?

He just got bit to show that he doesn't feel dead inside anymore.
It was just a small bite before the demon died.

that was my first concern until he said what he did which explains that he's now seen as something human and worth killing because he's spent so many years dead inside and unable to be worthy of even death. the dying ghoul attempting an attack is to show how seeing hyakki again and the impact changed him.

Feeling guilty after the wall incident, sure, but not before that, the main problem like I said was that she seemed to treat Hyakki being cursed as both her and Daigo's fault when it was purely Daigo. She only made a wish to the gods when she was in labour, before Hyakki was even effected by the curse, and knew nothing about any deal Daigo made until after the whole thing happened, not only that, she thought he was dead anyway until recently.

So it's not like she shares even half of the responsibility for what happened, she was a mother making a wish for her child to be safe while she was giving birth, and after that, praying that his soul or whatever was at peace.

No I think it was just to show that in the gods eyes he's been a dead man up until this point, which is why the demons ignored him, only now that hes 'alive' again can he be hurt.

It's been dark since episode 1. They aren't using Tezuka's cartoonish style, that's why the story feels heavier.

Are you really this dense? She doesn't need to have any actual guilt for daigos actions to feel guilty about failing to save her child, just look at women who miscarry / give birth to dead children, that shit makes normal people feel guilty even if they could not have done anything.

That's why this deal is so weird in the first place because it doesn't even feel like a sacrifice for Daigo. His wife suffered a lot from this, but not him.

My original point wasn’t why she felt guilty, but why she talked about Hyakki being cursed as though she and Daigo were in on it together. She says it’s ‘our’ fault when talking about it to Tahomaru, even though she had no part in the actual curse whatsoever. I get that she’s feel guilty for not being able to help Hyakki but that doesn’t mean she should treat it like she’s partners in crime with Daigo and his deal.

She says it is her fault because she feels guilty, it is utterly irrelevant whether she is actually at fault.
Of course she "shouldn't" but feelings are not objective.

Eh, I think this and that are still separate, like I said I get her feeling guilty for not being able to save him, but she talks about Daigos deal like ‘what WE did’ even if she’s guilty she shouldn’t describe it like she was part of the deal.

have you ever talked to a german who feels guilty for what the nazis did, they talk just like that.
You separate it but that's not what some people do.
>like she was part of the deal.
That's how she feels.

She is his wife. That means something.

>instead of just flippantly going "its okay he never existed you can just have another one"

The demons are presumably not omniscient. After the deed was done, they probably slapped their foreheads in unison while exclaiming, "well shit, so much for our big surprise. Who'd expected him to be this much of a pragmatic asshole."

Attached: D58owo0V4AAbdO9.jpg_large.jpg (949x1200, 258K)

It would have been pretty stupid to not kill them, for all they know they would just grow up to kill more people and have more rat children, repeating the cycle and spreading like a plague.
