First of all Euphie isn't the center of Suzaku's universe. There's a lot more going on with him than that. The fact that he wanted to erase Lelouch's memories over outright killing him shows that. Suzaku in many ways blaims C.C. and the geass itself for corrupting Lelouch. I think that Lelouch's behavior during Akito is probably the reason why.

Beyond that Schnizel's forcing him to betray Lelouch and the world of C. Likely forced Suzaku to understand that he was in a sense being naive. He would never be able to change Britannia from the inside so long as Charles was alive.

Is he still mad at Lelouch for killing innocent people but he understands now why it happened and that it actually does weigh on Lelouch's conscience.

This movie was worth it just for that moment. I'm glad she got her happy ending

I think the key here is the villains. The two bad guys are basically gender swapped lelouch and nunnally. After Lelouch sees how much shit they fucked up because of "must protect my crippled sibling", he wasn't gonna go and keep doing the same thing anymore. Also of note is how guilty nunnally was about how Lelouch did the zero requiem for her. After she tells him about it, I think we're led to believe that Lelouch decides it's better for her to live her own life rather than have him try to do things on her behalf.

I cried at the end. Godammit, this movie is like a big, fluffy ball of nostalgia and happiness I never want to let go. All the characters I liked gathering, catching up, bonding, fighting, fighting together, it was so heartwarming and made me so happy. The country sized stand battle between geass Lelouch and Sharla was great. I love the designs too, the BK uniforms have Britannian details now, it hurts my muh symbolism boner so good, and Karen's piloting suit actually didn't look like horse shit for once. This movie was so awesome I actually don't feel like I deserve to have so much fun.

Lelouch consecrated his life to them and ultimately killed himself for them I don't see how it is contradictory that he would leave them now. He never meant to stay beside them or live with them, ever since zero requiem started.
Lelouch knows that his very existence hurts Suzaku and Suzaku's place in the world, as for Nunnaly she doesn't need him anymore to survive and is better off without him, Lelouch probably realizes it would be toxic for both of them if they just kept living on top of the other like they always did out of necessity since they were kids. Moreover it's high time he gave attention to his romantic prospects, and now that he doesn't have a country to rule or a world to save is probably the best time to start dating.

The promise was a central point between two of the most major characters and was pretty fucking important in the original series, shipping or not. Also in the Damocles Lelouch basically explicitly says that nunnally doesn’t need to depend on him and that she’s become strong on her own. But I’m guessing you understand very little about character development like most the people still making that dumb argument

He is just as much a "different" Lelouch, as the Lelouch from 5 minutes ago is different from the present Lelouch.
He is still "Lelouch" in the end.

And he completely did accept Nunnally’s independence, responsibility for her own actions, and strength as an individual on the Damocles. Saying he didnt completely invalidates both an important character development for Lelouch and Nunnally. I honestly don’t know how you missed this

I was saying in the original series that the mao arc showed it’s significance. It did cut that for the recap movies but frankly with this movie they really didn’t need to spend their limited time emphasizing its importance. And yes it happened in exactly that way. He originally thought she was a pawn in Schnizel’s game, just a piece that he needs to protect and that others seek to use. He didn’t see her as an independent person with the ability to make her own decisions and stand by them. After speaking with her however, he realizes how much she’s grown and that she is strong enough to not need his constant protection. This was a huge fucking deal and it makes me question how much you actually paid attention to the series

That's apart of AU not related to the TV series...that comes out 11 years after the TV series ended....that doesn't negate the fact that the Maco arc was skipped. Yeah really shows how signficant it was.
