I remember a long time ago in the old KF threads, people were talking about people in Japari Park accidentally getting sandstar'd, especially the Star Beast mascot employees. Just imagine, you're some college loser who's going to Japari U for a degree in something related to animals, and to help pay tuition you work part-time as a Star Beast. Then one day, due to whatever reason, you get struck by Sandstar and get turned into a Friend. You lose all memory of your family, friends, your girlfriend (if you had one).
Even worse if you're one of the park researchers doing field work and you fail to make it to safety when the volcano erupts. If you had kids, your kids are fatherless now until the new cute Friend you dies.
It's hard to believe no human has ever been Sandstar'd, and I bet they had to have at least some countermeasure to prevent accidental Friendification.
All the human inhabitants turning into Human Friends would be the setup for a Maron Maron CG set, I swear to fucking god. It'd be called A whole Isle Full of Innocent, Sexy Friends That You Can Spend the Night at the Japari Lodge With, and it'd involve solely Kabans of varying body types and bags.

The new MC was lackluster as fuck. The animation was somehow worse. And on top of that every time it looked like it might pic itself up and do something decent or interesting it immediately instead doubled down on all the stuff the audience hated, and based on comments by the director, producer, and project manager this was probably intentional. The entire series was a slap in the face to fans of the first season was lacking the quality to stand on its own and gather fans of its own. I think that the reason why Beep became so relevant for the fans was because it represents the S2 problems very well. You have a cute character with a mean spirit, who has an annoying personality, who cheats to win and who ends up receiving the bullying she harvested, but at the same time you see the sadness on her face for not being part of the final picture, no matter how bad she tried to outstand. It just leaves you laughing for her and her punishment,but at the same time it leaves you with a small feeling of pity, and it leaves you thinking: "stupid bird! You deserve it for being an asshole...but I wish things wouldn't have ended this way for you".

They gave her a yesman personality. Her entire character was literally being demeaning to everyone else other than her leader, who was kind to everyone. She actively spoke down to anyone and everyone, even nearly pushing Kyururu off of a tree branch she was sitting on simply because they had different views. Her only true moment was when she was confused as she looked at the picture that didn't have her in it. The bullying memes stemmed from her perplexed look, and her rotten attitude towards everyone got her a title over in nipland; GSKB. She was such a little shit that everyone despised her, all because she had no personality outside of her boring lackey gags.
Roadrunner did not deserve the awful decisions that led to her character. No Friend should be hated, but they made her one that could be hated. Even brats like the croc and jungle cat duos were likeable, and even the pointlessly rude Caracal had personality other than her unreasonable attitude. Roadrunner had nothing.

I doubt it will end soon. There's still an unreleased volume that's not the final one, so it'd be at least one year from ending (assuming the current short chapters continue). There's also one unfinished running plot that's completely unrelated to the current story.
If anything, I'd guess it will be another attempt at a status quo change. Keroro is getting some extra marketing due to the anniversary so this seems like the best time try it. Last time it was a new main cast member, although the addition didn't turn out very popular and his role was quickly minimized to recurring side-character.
