APPARE APPARE

man of culture

zetsuen no tempest. i have literally never heard any mention of it anywhere after i watched it years ago

The only times I've seen people mention it are to hate on it. I don't get why, it was cute and fun, as long as you don't take it seriously.

love these threads. pic related is my contribution.

enjoyed it. the three EDs were great, all in their own right. the hanakana duet ballad was beautiful. not fond of the direction and storyboarding though.

awful story but really great soundtrack.

loved the adachi designs and the umetsu kinks, but it was strongest in the first and last episodes and kinda pointless, directionless fluff in the middle.

dude it's not even that old.

would've been my pick. criminally underrated, it was absolutely great. would've been my pick actually.

did not watch actually.

Probably because it's extremely forgettable shoujo shit.

stop with this already

This threads are always interesting, as there's a difference between stuff that should and shouldn't be forgotten, like these three gay idiots and their fun(but ultimately forgettable) show.

Agreed. I still can't help but love Ginta and his pals and I love how much the show changes in tone a number of times as it goes on without losing it's charm.

Like, holy fuck, it was definitely not the same show it was by the end from when ti first started, but the general feel and soul remained the whole time.

I think my one regret is that Ginta didn't just stay with Dorothy after that final moment they had or go home and then eventually have it confirmed that either he eventually went back or she found her way there to him.

Nothing outstanding amongst CGDCT, but far from boring or bad if you like these shows.

Omoidashita!

I still don't understand that flashback about a girl he loved and that seemed to love him back. Why the fuck did they split?

This show bombed so hard on Cartoon Network it was cancelled after a few episodes.

With a name like "Legend of the legendary Heroes" I actually expected something funny a lá KonoSuba.
It wasn't, however.

Fuck I can't stand violent tsunderes.

Girlfriend BETA (or Kari). Nothing special, but I can recommend it to anyone who like CG shows. Rather gay, despite the title implicating a harem.

Read the manga when I was young, it was pretty good. One of my first fap: at one time, the witch has her dress torn apart in a fight and we can see a breast. I was on fire this night.

I had to look up the sequels' names because they were forgettable.

Genei wo Kakeru taiyou, aka Knock-off Madoka, except much less memorable then other MS with the same audience.

Well, yeah, and wolf girl and octopus jew.

This show had 26 goddam episodes, and it didn't air that long ago.
Episodes were vaguely connected by a meta plot, but they were mostly standalone.
It was fun, if you enjoyed the Koihime Musou anime you will probably enjoy this.
There was also episode 18, which was not fun. I felt legitimately worse after watching episode 18.

One of my favorite Kirara shows. At least manga translations are still semi-alive.

I love Yozakura. A main cast being a group of friends having fun together on top having supernatural adventures is a more rare thing than it should be. Looking forward to the author's new series.

Tried watching it, but it was boring and didn't make much sense. I've been told it's better if you're familiar with the source material.

Bought and watched the entire series on DVD.

Literally only remember for a doctored PV one of the fansubs did for it. Nothing else about it.

youtube.com/watch?v=1b2oXuG2zig

It's arguably how much Mai-Hime (and Otome) is actually forgotten, but considering how big it was back then, it's surprising how utterly it fell off everyone's radar, (usually ShizNat it still mentioned).
Or maybe not, considering it's largest fandom seemed to be the yuri crowd, and Nanoha, which aired around the same time, is kinda better suited for them.
Hime is often called a Mahou Shoujo, but I don't know why. The powers are basically like Stands from JoJo.
Otome was a proper MS, however.

Every OP after the first was awful. Fun series though.

Back when fantasy animu weren't just endless Dragon Quest rip-offs, with always the same stereotypical races, and literal chracter classes and levels if the authors are particularly lazy.
Fantasy animu used to be so nice and varied, when did it all go wrong?

Attached: 91opasvjb1L._RI_.jpg (2560x1920, 970K)

I never watched that show, but I've always loved its OP.
youtube.com/watch?v=xi8ZNryJM20

I blame absolutely no one for not remembering it because the anime was dogshit.
The manga though, now thats a good series.

Attached: Recca.jpg (428x583, 56K)

>when did it all go wrong?
When faggot otaku got into the industry in droves, and started basing their ""works"" on video games and other anime instead of observing real life, real people, and real fantasy novels and TTG RPG encyclopedias.

Just let it go. After they ignored the anniversary, it's obvious that Hime series is just another dead franchise that is never going to be continued.

I've rewatched Scrapped Princess recently. It has some weak episodes in the first half, but overall it holds up very well even today. I miss the variety of early 2000s fantasy series.

Attached: seirei-no-moribito-bluray-box-494009.2.jpg (1500x1500, 353K)

>Just let it go
I did a long time ago.
I think my "or maybe not" is not exactly clear:
I meant it's not that surprising that it's dead, since the yuri crowd was a huge part of the fandom, and the series utterly pales in that regard compared to other shows that aired back then.

Is this the time flop thread?

>flop
Time is merciless and swallows all evetually.

Surprise yandere childhood friend at the end made it stand out at least a little.

What a newfag board, Jesus Christ.

Is there a series that you like that was fairly popular in Japan, but the western fanbase consists of (You) alone?

Can't exist. There are way too many weebs who will pretend to like something even if they don't if it gets them closer to being Japanese.

Can't think of anything.
Everything popular in Japan ends up being at least somewhat popular here.

I recently finished Sisters of Wellber, and I hated it. There was no sense of adventure or threat, which left it feel dull. The ending was awful, too.
It's no masterpiece, but its flaws are drastically exaggerated.

I hated the show because of how annoying Niea was. She actively reduced the quality of life of the other heroine, which is something that always gets on my nerves.

It's interesting how haphazard popularity from way back then worked. Nowadays almost everything gets official subs so it's harder for anything to escape attention.

Maybe if CLAMP would finish it.

Gegege no Kitarou does not have a lot of English speaking fans.

Kindaichi has less fans than Conan despite being around the same time. I was the only person I met offline that bought the manga before Tokyopop released a volume every six months because of low sales, and then they went under.

It's a shame. It's one of those series that got better the longer it went on in my opinion.

Huh, looks like someone seeded them. Are they white subtitles by chance?

I tried watching that show when it aired on Toonami but couldn't get into it. What was its appeal?

What's not to understand?

No, they are yellow subs, but you can always watch it raw.

I liked the slice of life feel to the demon hunting business and not another take on the battle shounen genre, plus the application of the powers felt really unique to me.
The earlier parts, especially the anime, were a bit slower on the uptake though since worldbuilding took a while and only focused on the big early arc. I'd say it gets a lot better once the in-universe politics and the "true goal" of the series is revealed.
Retroactively, I never knew how much I appreciated Hiroyuki Yoshino voicing the MC.

I'm not that high power level yet.

But the japanese used on it is pretty simple.
If you watched at least 300 anime, you should be okay.

that toy commercial with the the girl mc who didnt care about battling her figurines. Good shit loved the twins, goro, and the based scientists girls.

Green Eye.

Book of Bantorra. Girls were cute but the plot was convoluted and labyrinthine, like a JRPG that takes its plot too seriousy.

>Just let it go. After they ignored the anniversary
I don't think Sunrise will let a franchise go because it has worldwide success before Code Geass and LoveLive. There's a chance an OVA, movie or full series for Mai-franchise. If they are planning an anniversary project then it should be a OVA or movie.

Kiddy Grade III when?

The OP was, no pun intended, GODLY. Wild ride that show was.

Did Mai Hime ever had such success before the rest?

I remember it
Might rewatch it soon it was great

Yes it did.

Frame Arms Girl? The anime was pretty meh, but I have a shit ton of FAGs

Actually there were two things:
first the official manga release got censored because, well, just look at her. This didn't sit well with people whoi considered buying it in the first place.
Second, some asshole reported mango sites (and some streaming ones I think) for hosting child porn because of DitVB. Google pulled ads from a ton of sites as a result (including Onemanga, if you remember that), and many sites removed mature content (like Berserk and similar) altogether. The guy who did the reporting was one of the most self-righteous, smug and shit-eating THINK OF DA CHILDREN!!!-types I've ever seen (he posted a statement). He belongs dead.
Back then it was kind of a big deal for many people.
Of course it didn't matter in the long run at all. Barely any mango site from back then is around anymore, and have you seem some of the stuff hosted on the current big ones, like mangadex and co? I recently read Trash., it becomes literal porn halfway through. Most of these host borderline or outright pornographic manga with no worries.

They are very soft.

This is one of the very few shows with NO porn whatsoever.
Not even Fujo porn. Nothing. Even stuff like Scrapped Princess has some pics.

I enjoyed it a lot, but at some point the animation quality just tanked which kinda ruined the show, especially since it was at the point where they finally revealed my favorite character.

How could you forget with a opening theme like this

How could anyone forget Kannazuki no Miko?

The OP was too catchy for me to forget.
