Even during CA arc it was not that bad. Introspection, narration, recollection and exposition can be great and powerful tools when used thoughtfully and in moderation, the Welfin/ Meruem scene was one of a few that I can consider pure kino. Back then Togashi tried, sure he spoonfeed his readers and often overexplained simple concepts. His exposition was bland and wordy but he sometimes remembered that he works on manga. Now HxH is just its own self-parody with shit-ton of useless boring characters, even more walls of text on a blank spaces, no visual narrative, pointless infodumping and feels like a giant mess.

Bad story, bad presentation, bad worldbuilding, constant asspulls, expository writing, pretentious as hell; unfinished, forgotten, severed subplots, lack of actual plan or draft for the story and no ending in sight. HxH would never be considered a good book because Togashi is even worse storyteller than manga artist.
