What have you been watching/reading, user?
Pre 2000 thread
Watching Cobra right now. Man, I didn't expect it to be that awesome. Now I hate City Hunter even more than before.
Finished ZZ reluctantly, it never got better. CCA was good if not for one of the dumbest scenes I've ever seen in anime, wherein the federation hands an asteroid over to a guy who just got done crashing an asteroid onto Earth. I can't even.
Great art style, meh everything else. There's a handful of jokes that are okay and the voice acting by the match commentators is noteworthy but the paper-thin characterization destroys most of any enjoyment I could have gotten from it. It could have worked well as a one-cour show or movie.
God damn if it doesn't look amazing though.
absolutely kino.
I wish I was as cool as Ryo Saiba
Started this today. Seems funky and easy going.
Watched through Yu Yu Hakusho over a week or so. Pretty great at times but never fell completely in love with it. Watched sub by the way, no matter how much people recommend the dub for some select shows I really struggle with it (with some very few post-2000's exceptions).
Finally decided to start watching Dragon Ball. I grew up with the manga so it's fun to revisit it now as an anime. Too bad the audio quality is shit but I got used to it very quickly. I seriously doubt the anime will even get close to my love of the manga but I'm still curious as to what I've been missing out on. Felt that now was the time since it's been so long since I last read it, many years ago I tried the anime and I just couldn't deal with the voices and the changes because I was so used to reading it.
Continuing my very slow progression through Urusei Yatsura as always. I thought pic related was pretty funny. Her expression as this is going on just kills me.
Took a bit of break from LotGH which was when I started with YYH. I plan to continue with it soon and finish of the last season, it's been great but it's just a bit heavy which was what caused me to slow down with it.
That's about it for now, I guess I got into a classic battle shonen phase but I'm having a lot of fun. Sometimes you're just in the mood for it, you know.
Been reading Gunsmith Cats. Most people generally talk about the OVA, which I guess is good, but it's a shame that the OVA apparently is an original story and not an actual adaptation. I really like the manga's art though. It's over the top in the best way too and the gunfights and car chases are all really well done.
He's too cool.
This is post-2000 but related, has anyone heard/read anything about Bean Bandit? It was supposed to be released last month but there's no information about it at all. I don't know moonrunes so I can't search around that way.
>it never got better
You're lying. Sirent voice > anime janai.
About CCA, I don't think that was the worst part and even unbelievable. Remember the treaties with Germany just before the WW2. Politicians are dumb like that.
The worst thing about it is clearly the script, with its first half being the worst offender. The setting and characterization aren't convincing enough. Tomino is a great series director, but he just can't make movies.
Oniisama e... I'm enjoying it quite a bit, though I want to find another old shoujo-esque show to watch afterwards.
ZZ is basically what happened after Tomino watched Scooby Doo.
i started on 3x3 eyes the other day and it's pretty dope
what show is this? looks badass and comfy
I fucking adored urusei yatsura. it's got some goofy twists, and I'd watch a couple eps at a time interspersed in other anime
City hunter, newfag
watching- Saga of Tanya the Evil (2nd time) and Yu Yu Hakusho
reading- The Promised Neverland
>that intro to 1 + 2 = Paradise
>Check out of curiosity the pre-2000 thread after months of not doing it
>Exactly the same shows are being discussed, again
>The same asshole trying to discuss a post-2000 anime show using some bullshit "it's totally old school" excuse
I think you guys are trapped on some sort of ironic hell.
Peace.
How many new pre-2000s shows do you think were released in the month you were gone?

Area 88 is the only correct answer
That looks so fucking good. I really need to get around to watching Cobra. Dezaki is fantastic in general so far.
Oscar should be higher.
Was he autistic?
Just finished YuYu Hakusho, Devilman the Birth, and Digimon Tamers
Started Genghis Khan by Yokoyama Mitsuteru
Ah, well now, ah, そうさのぅ ...
I finished Mobile Suit Gundam. It was great.
I started Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. It's shit.
>Mobile Suit Gundam
tv series or movies?
>Zeta
What's the last episode you watched? Zeta is great. Kamille is great. Just believe a sign of Zeta.
I watched Gundam 79 in the form of the 1979 television series, of course.
I'm up to the part of Zeta where adults slap and punch and kick the shit out of Kamille, and then other adults tell him that he deserves it for being a kid. Oh, wait, that's every episode.
I wish City Hunter would get new seasons like Lupin does.
been thinking of watching Rurouni Kenshin, is it any good?
Only 4 episodes of Maison Ikkoku left to watch that I'm going to finish in the morning.
That part with Kozue's engagement broke my heart and I had to stop watching fpr the night
Godai did nothing wrong
Dude can't catch a break. Like Damn
>SPT Layzner
So much fucking talking, I put it on hold
>Dougram
Pretty boring as well
It's MY DREAM or YOUR DREAM or somebodies DREAM
Why does this entitled child of a villain get the entire story distorted around him?
It's alright. It looks very 90s, which is a shame. Trust and Betrayal is amazing, check that one out for sure.
Watched the OVAs a while ago and they left me with such an indescribable and empty feeling. How Far to Paradise is an amazing song and the scene with Shin in the desert was great.
Saw the first two Cyborg 009 movies, which were ok considering their age. The scene in the first one, with Francoise's ballet scene, with the Swan Lake theme playing while tanks destroy cities was pretty impressive. I also finished the first Harlock and loved it. Armitage III had a great first episode, but the other two were pretty meh and the villain had one of the most annoying voices I've ever heard. Now I have one episode left of Gunsmith Cats. I love the opening, both the song and the visuals. It's easy to see how it inspired other anime.
