I wouldn’t quite say the entire anime is shit, just the beginning, albiet the beginning is very VERY bad. If you can force yourself through the initial torture of Asta’s screeching hellspawn voice, it’s more or less watchable later on.

One Piece

I got through about 40 episodes and it’s so god damned boring and repetitive. Also, the ‘comedic value’ in it is “hurr durr my funni face” I’m going back to watching Overlord or BC but whoever recommended me that shit I want my time back.

if you really want to get into Black Clover read the manga, the anime is mostly subpar aside from the openings and some well animated sequences

Has a good OST though if you’re into sad music or piano.

I thought it was just mediocre, but yeah it was massively disappointing after the incredibly forced """""hype train""""" it got.

If i recall, Meada did actually write out the script for the anime and it turned out that was too long for a one cour anime and he had to cut a bunch of stuff out. Found out the hard way this isnt like the KEY adaptations Kyoani made two cour anime out of. Angel Beats ended up being a disjointed mess.

Just fair warning, BC is incredibly off-putting at first. Regardless of whether you start with the manga or the anime, prepare yourself in both cases for the initial experience of a festering amalgamation of regurgitated shonen tropes that somehow slowly organizes itself in to something distinctly unique and interesting.

There is absolutely nothing new about the premise, the characters, the world-building, the plot, the powers, etc... It’s just about the most rehashed turd of an idea for a shonen ever conceived. Yet you’ll get to a point where it drops the pretense of ever trying to be unique in its substance and begin to appreciate a refreshing uniqueness in its concise pacing and construction. I completely abhore using the word “comfy” to describe anything because that almost always means “it’s shit but I like it”, but BC is comfy in a strangely artful way where it does eventually succeed in crafting it’s own niche in the category of shonen.

For me that's part of what made it interesting. Seeing Ainz inserted into a template anime setting with all the obligatory characters made for a fun to watch show, even if the novelty wears out a bit

It’s funny that of all the popular isekai you got tricked in to watching, you didn’t happen to watch the one that you’d probably have the highest chance of enjoying if you don’t normally like Isekai. It sounds like you’ve already completely given up on tempting the genre, but Re:Zero is honest to god the one which goes farthest in subverting the usual premise and appeal of isekai.

Konosuba is great. I agree that some of the jokes get repetitive.
But I think what keeps the jokes 'fresh' despite being repetitive, are the different scenarios they are used in?

Megumin's explosion magic is funny when it is first introduced and we see she is vulernable after using it. Then it is funny again when she uses it on that castle every day, and that dark knight appears and is all pissed off about it. And then it is funny again when there are ghosts/spirits in that mansion, and she gets so scared she wants to use explosion magic. It's repetitive, but i don't think it's stale at all.

As for the shipping nonsense. I don't mind it. But I have to say i don't care much for Darkness and her fetishes, she's easily the worst character out of all the main characters. She should have been a minor character that only appears once in a while, like Yunyun, or Chris

Agreeing with both of these. I never actually finished either. They were both boring as fuck. Katanagatari billed itself as an action show but consisted entirely of smug pseudo-intellectual monologues. The only thing I really remember about Steins Gate is the gelled bananas and Kurisu's design, which I liked enough to buy her figma. (My cat ate it, though.)
