The LoC is still functioning and Madoka is back alive and happy with her family. The only real argument you have against this world is that Homura is miserable.

Akemi Homura is an over-protective obsessed sperglord that ruined both herself and her relationship with Madoka over some intense delusion she built up in her own head. The only thing she was justified in doing was stopping Kyubey, but that was her own fault for spilling the beans anyway.

There is nothing wrong with wanting happiness for Madoka, but Madoka's choice is something that is her own, regardless of circumstance. People often assume things of others by getting snippets of information or words from them, constructing it in their own head using their own feelings, but often that doesn't really reflect how the other person feels on the grander scale. People aren't that one dimensional. Homura could have respected that and opted to discuss things with her at the end, but instead, she decides to completely rob her of her free-will and larp as some devil.

Her happiness is being with the people she loves. She left her happiness to do something she thought was more important. That doesn't mean she's happier now than she was before at all. Claiming she was is disrespectful to her character and her arc.

It's only remotely similar if you cut out all the nuance of the situation, development and Madoka's perspective. Homura does not have any authority over Madoka. What you are implying is that Homura's heart wants the best for Madoka, which is correct, but she wants it her way only. And her way consists of what I have already described in my previous posts. She is looking at Madoka as a damsel in distress, a caricature that needs to be fed happiness, and jumped at any chance to treat her that way instead of thinking about how the both of them could live happily with eachother's feelings.

Madoka WOULD understand Homura's struggle, but she would also understand that Homura's answer was incomplete and unhealthy to both parties, especially since she neglected Madoka herself as a person.

It really didn't. There's a subtlety to Rebellion that allows you to question things. Obviously Homura's superficially set up as the big evil bad who fucked over Madoka, but look past that curtain and you see what's really happening.

Homura violating Madoka's free will to choose and know is a fair criticism.

However, I think it is more important that Madoka was taken out of a situation that made her miserable and put her in one that makes her happy, as well as the LoC still being preserved. I think it's an objectively better situation than how episode 12 left off.
