Why is this series not popular in the west?
Boogiepop
Because it's shit
it isn't popular in the east either
OPM director ruined it
it sold like 400 copies, it isn't popular anywhere
Too many pleb filters.
Are you guys talking about just the anime? Or the LN as well? Because if you're including the LN, that makes no sense considering the LN has been around for 20 years.
Or maybe I have no idea how LN publishers work
Why didn't she wear the ying-yang symbol or that long strip?
Because it wasn't mentioned in the LN. The anime is faithful to the descriptions that is mentioned in the LN.
Probably because the original was way 2deep4u
It didn't have enough snow in it
I loved it. One of Aoi Yuuki's best performances imo.
>The anime is faithful to the descriptions that is mentioned in the LN.
>no makeup
The LN is
>OPM2 died for this
OPM season 2 was going to be a failure anyway, all the good animators abandoned ship because the source material is awful Murata "le epic Garou xD" fanfic that takes itself too seriously and ruins the original vibe of the webcomic.
A Google search for it brings up millions of English results. Pretty popular if you ask me.
I'm not sure how popular it is but at the very least it doesn't get much attention from the internet-vocal otaku types that discuss recent light or web novels on twitter/5ch/futaba. I guess it could have non-anime otaku readers or just faithful readers that don't have time for that fandom shit but continued buying the books over the years, same for Guin Saga probably which is rarely ever mentioned (other than people mentioning how long it is) but has 110+ volumes.
Notice how these works have little fanart or doujins and most of is from when they had anime adaptations. It's not really surprising they wouldn't be popular here on Yea Forums either.
I can't speak for the past like when Phantom or the LNs came out but the reason the new anime didn't become a stand-out hit last season is probably because bigger more mainstream shows soaked up attention. Boogiepop may never become a big hit in the west, which is fine since it doesn't appeal to the casual anime market and doesn't need to.
This
It's meh tier
Good, opm is overrated garbage
The light novel seems to be selling well enough in the west. It was an Amazon best seller for a while and the first omnibus completely sold out and Seven Seas had to reprint it before the anime was complete.
The real question is whether it sold enough for them to license more. They've teased more could be coming, but I assume that'll be an AX announcement instead of the smaller twitter announcements they do.
It must be true that Boogiepop has a decent fanbase in japan, but you shouldn't overestimate that. Though living in japan and a fan of the series, I had not heard much about it in any major media for more than a decade until the new anime started airing.
Bad writing and animation.
Best part is that OPM2 has better animation and will sell better than boggieflop too. Natsumehack on suicide watch.
Every single screenshot from the anime, all the promotional material is extremely ugly and unappealing.
>muted colors
>ugly costumes
>the mc looks kinda bored and mundane
>the name of the show doesn't tell me anything, whats a boogie and why does it pop? Oh wait I dont care
Theres just nothing gripping about it.
It would have been popular if the preview hadn't been a lie.
wats this even bout?
>Guin Saga
I wonder if there's anyone left on this board who read even half the volumes.
Too old and strange for normal mainstream fags
This is even true on Yea Forums and this thread
Not true
Fillerfag
Contrarian
Because you didn't watch the Boogiepop Phantom 2000s
If what was said here is true the LN is selling well enough to count as mainstream, at least compared to a lot of the series discussed here.
Most of the hate on here was in the threads for the first few episodes. After that it was more positive, if only because pretty much everyone dropped it and the show actually got better.
Based
I really hope the LNs get more English translations but with these flop sales it doesn't seem likely.
I wish embryo got adapted too, I want more Imaginator
Chuuni girl fighting other chuunis.
Cute chunni serial killer girl killing her chosen targets
>girl
She herself doesn't appear in embryo, only her ability does.
Hey, isn't that the sash? The one that's supposedly non-canon?
Why is it in the promotional material but not in the anime itself?
>supposedly non-canon
>He was shorter than me and dressed in a long, black cape with a collar that wrapped around him like a great coat, and a black hat like a shrunken pipe or a top hat without a brim. The hat was a size too big for his head, and half covered his eyes.
>On the hat and cape bits of metal gleamed, like rivets or some sort of badge, sewn along the hem. It gave off the impression of armor.
It is non-canon. So is the chain and the infinity cape
X-Men origin story but from the primary perspective of the humies with a schizo chuuni serial killer as the protagonist.
Basically what was said here
it's popular with me
No good anime adaptation, LNs too old to catch on anymore
Aside from the first 3 episodes, there is nothing really wrong with the anime
This part of boogiepop verse looks even more chuuni
MPLS sure are strange creatures. No wonder the Towa wants to erase them.
it's impossible to be popular with that retarded, silly name
Anyone else felt bad for the guy that fell in love at first sight and then got his memories erased?
The planning on their part of having the worst episodes the ones that most people judge a show on wasn't great. So many people would have dropped it based on those being mostly boring and badly animated.
In the end the PV didn't represent the series and the first 3 episodes didn't either. I only gave it 4 episodes because they released the first 2 together so I treated it as a 3 week rule instead, and that let me see the series improve drastically. Without that I'd probably think of it as a 3/10 at best.
>Towa Organization
>Administration
>Kazuko Suema - New Axis, Moon River
Wtf
Being at the level of nothing really wrong with it does not make it a good adaption. A good adaption would have used more artistry to transfer all of the tonal and thematic elements lost from original prose. That's without going into a bucket of nitpicks like Spooky E not having a dozen phones. Then there are larger things that persisted to later episodes, such as cutting an entire side-story from At Dawn.
That's all besides the butchering of the first arc.
So nothing really wrong and pretty decent adaption
Very nice.
Nice "arguments" you have there, reddit-kun.
V23
Boogiepop Almighty: Dizzy Misses Lizzy
Good, only third-world monkeys watch trash like OPM.
It's boring and convoluted.
Just what the heck Suema did to get to that position? Last I checked she was a frustrated school girl.
To be completely into kadono universe, have to read over 30 books at least besides boogiepop series.
Classic answer from someone who doesn't know the series. Boogiepop is pretty simple actually
>Last I checked she was a frustrated school girl.
20 years worth of books came out since that.
And also a fuckton of short stories. And after that you are still not guaranteed to understand how everything works.

>orihata returned to towa
Should have expected that from this pic
Even more importantly, Takeda newly stole two other women's hearts, besides touka and iincho.
tried watchin it but fucking hated the "out of chronological order" gimmick.
What exactly is gained from throwing a scene obviously from the end of the story thats supposed to be emotional at the beginning where it cant be emotional since i dont even know the character?
Boogie spooking others outside their series
In fact, you don't have to care much about that picture. Just exaggerated by ogata.
I've seen somewhere that Aya's personality changed drastically later in the story.
why he looks like he's going to get assraped by boogie?
That's not in the main series but in the spin off series (Repent Walpurgis Fire)
Boogiepop's chronological shenanigans are among the best there are. It's never used as a gimmick; it always serves the purpose of focusing the narrative on the themes of the work. For instance, Takeda's perspective isn't even out of order in itself, but the point of having his truncated view of the story is to put the focus on the content of his conversations with Boogiepop to establish the themes of the volume. Takeda's part is a complete story by itself and the emotional impact at the end is set up by his characterization throughout and the attachment he builds toward Boogiepop.
All that being said, the anime doesn't handle the first volume material well.
I'm pretty sure that Repent Walpurgis and Beat's Discipline aren't separate from Boogiepop and just happen somewhere in the same timeframe.
>students dying left and right
>not even the best friends care about them that much
You should be right. Though I've finished Beat's recently, not Repent Walpurgis yet. So I don't know about it in detail. What I mean is just that orihata didn't change so much in the main series.
It doesn't really work in a weekly 20min format.
Anime reminded me how much I like the old 90's Shin Megami Tensei stuff and how much I hate the fluffy Persona series past the second.
I like door-kun's story
yikes
Based and SPOOKYpilled
Pretty much this. It just looks like Parasyte without any exciting stuff.
And nothing of value was lost!
>Kazuko Suema - New Axis
So she is Towa's boss now?
It was boring as shit with head-up-own-ass dialogue at times.
Seems so, the two beside her are from Towa, super high up too. Kaleidoscope is like vice king.

I think the west in general just doesn't have much appreciation for thematic storytelling or subtlety, they'd much prefer vocal appeals to emotion and of course explosive action
youtube.com
TV anime got downgraded pretty hard.
Touka ended up a lot cuter in this anime desu
KOD Touka is top smug though
I could listen to Aoi Youki's Boogiepop performance all day.
Tell me, why does she wear the hat?
Are the blu-rays going to improve the visuals?
I give the anime a 7/10 (never read the light novel) great storytelling, great writing, good characters, i enjoyed the concepts of which the show talked upon. I would say the awkward, random pacing threw me for a loop more than any other anime i have watched thus far. It made it hard to follow track of what was happening. It still kept me engaged all the way through. If i didn’t like it i would have dropped it but it was just too good and moody
west is reddit, plus it's pleb filter.

The tv anime wasn't QUALITY, so I don't think we will see any changes. Anime was just rather boring direction and storyboard wise.

Maybe if the anime had an actual action scene
It is not even similar.
>i dropped it after realizing this is just a fate rip off
What
he ripped off many elements from fate and so much is similar to kara no kyoukai too
What elements?
Stop being retards. This LN started publication before Fate was released.
story structure, characters and "powers" are lifted straight from nasu, 2 characters in one body, the general aesthetic
suprised nasu didn't sue
>mfw he thinks boogie copied fate, not fate copied this
>story structure, characters and "powers" are lifted straight from nasu
In what way?
>2 characters in one body
The concept is almost as old as storytelling itself.
>the general aesthetic
In what way?
I don't think anyone thinks that. Are you a genuine retard?
Indeed nasu was a hack, he took too many elements from boogiepop, even the basic ideas about redman were from boogie

You're dead wrong you fucking retard, they care more about Shingo than the source material. OPM2 died because some corporate faggots thought striking again while the iron was still lukewarm was more important than waiting another season or two for Shingo to be available
I want to fuck the creepy bubble
>source: my ass
I actually liked the chuuni talk on the rooftop in episode one.
In regards to what? Talent follows talent, that's industry common sense. If you're talking about Shingo's schedule, I'm not entirely certain how busy he is or if he even ever gave a shit about directing another season about OPM, but someone greenlit a sequel during the specific time frame he was working on Boogiepop. You have some other, enlightened reason this may have happened?
same
Imagine doing such mental gymnastics to deny that both Shingo and the animators just didn't find the source material good enough to deserve another season.
Sadly, she died in vain, and over 10000 years later, aliens will start attacking humanity.
>Shingo
Maybe
>Literally everyone else
You're fucking delusional. Most of them couldn't care less. I'm still talking in nonspecific terms as well assuming disliking the material is common sense. What's your problem with it relative to season 1? I'd think anyone that enjoyed the original would enjoy the current stuff just as much if not more. You're sounding increasingly autistic.
give it to me straight, we're never going to get any more boogiepop Yea Forums related material are we?
This adaptation bombed pretty hard so its unlikely, but then again 3D Kanojo sold almost the same and still got a second season. I guess it depends on how much it boosted LN sales to warrant a new series.
do people really have taste that shit?
When will Seven Seas license Boogiepop? They said they would do more but we're still not getting any news.
its less shit taste and more about being a light novel series from the late 90's and this adaptation having 3 really poor introductory episodes
i liked the first 3 episodes...
Because it's a garbage adaptation
While I wait, I decided to learn nip. Just in case Seven Seas doesn't license any more Boogie.
you can't tell me the tao sash and space cape aren't cool as fuck and appropriately chuuni though
becoming batman
the old one has a much more defined aesthetic and a much more unique soundtrack which are most of the reason why people remember it, the new one is just kind of... plain, as much as i love the way some of the audio is used and a couple of the tracks. the new one has much better voice acting though
Why did this season seem way to lighthearted and non confrontational? I watched the other Boogiepop before and the difference between the two are like night and day.
honestly the first episode was pretty good at doing what it did, even cutting as much as it did
it had the same sort of wonderful indirectness that phantom had
2/3 had some good bits, but fell kind of flat on the whole
If they license more then the announcement will be at anime expo. They seem to consider Boogiepop a big enough title that the omnibus announcements didn't just get dropped into one of their quarterly twitter license bombs.
It's shit
Is she a mpls? Or a synthetic human?
Neither. She was a normal human who took an evolution drug.
>a normal human who took an evolution drug.
Then she evolved into a mpls, didn't she?
MPLS generally describes those who evolved on their own. Taking a drug means the evolution was artificial.
what a cute birb
>orihata returned to towa
so her boyfriend is just ok with Toliet-chan going back to the org that discarded her?
Damn son, this is more complicated than I was told when the old anime came out.
Afaik people who got powers that way are also considered to be synthetic humans.
Dumb name. No superpowers. Boring. Feels like a 90's anime in all the wrong ways. Talking a lot but not saying anything.

Will any soundtrack this year top Boogiepop & Others?
Why are anons pretending to be retarded like this so obviously? Or they are not pretending?
I've been running through this slowly. It's entertaining enough, I'd say the lack of a main cast makes it hard to stay invested
I just want to listen to more of her cute voice. Which I can, fortunately
That's about it. At the end of Vol 20, Masaki and Aya each got a new partner from towa. The former's is a synthetic old man and the latter's a synthetic loli girl. It doesn't mean that they broke up though.
They're shitposters but failed to be stuble about it at least that's what I like to believe
I meant subtle not stuble. I'm a dumbass who can't even spell correctly.
It's just really poor trolling, but honestly it's only a little bit worse than what has always been present here.
Cute hobo loli
I didn't have much of an impression of Jin when I first watched the show but on rewatch I think he's a much more compelling and interesting character than I initially thought. His cool attitude and drive to accomplish his mission makes him so goddamn fun to watch, plus knowing the conclusion of the arc makes his "I've already won" demeanor all the more evident.
By that point, humans should be like what Suiko imagined. Did they still lose? That's in night watch right?

Yes that is. Though I've read only vol.1, heard suiko appears in 2.
>Did they still lose?
I don't remember the plot in detail because did read a long long time ago.
By the point of vol 1, most of human had run away from the earth. ( don't know if it's because of aliens) Then with their body sleeping in a huge spaceship, only their souls live in the virtual world. Almost all aren't aware of the truth. Might sounds so matrix-like, but it's actually pretty good.
>heard suiko appears in 2.
>The Night Watch under The Cold Moon (VS Imaginator Part IV)
>COVER CHARACTERS - Suiko Minahoshi
It feels like they deliberately ruined all the best parts of the novels. And I'm surprised people who haven't read the novels even got past the first arc, considering how they rushed it. They absolutely bulldozed through that first book. The anime gives you no reason to give a shit about what's going on. I'm just hoping Seven Seas releases more of the books in english.
Meh it's only the first arc that was rushed
I prefer the old print to this.
I don't understand, but at least she still has her husbando
I prefer the old print. More mysterious and beautiful.

Same energy.
Jin is just a really good villain.
Is he too?
I do not get how one can make the show look so dull. Like it sucks all energy out from life itself.
A black hole of lame and off putting.
Being contrasted by something vibrant and energetic like hat girl just makes it so much worse.
Arey you retarded? The artistic design choice on purpose. It's meant to look drab and grey because the world of Boogiepop is not a happy one.
That used to be the consensus on Berserk 1997 too
>normie
Come on you were winning until then
Still the same amount of retarded posts like other threads. Why so obvious? Is it that fun to pretend or is it real?
>It's meant to look drab and grey because the world of Boogiepop is not a happy one.
They did a terrible job at that. The design for most of it looks "normal" more than dreary.
I want a boogie figure
Duh, Normal is a part of the world too. Normal looking things having a not so normal side is standard boogiepop.
Shouldn't you know this?
The LN, maybe. The anime is a mess. Both of them.
Shouldn't you stop defending a flawed adaption with a boring design aesthetic that fails to convey the tone of the original work?
>tone of the original work
Assuming you even know what it is
Nah new anime is more simple after first arc cos they rearrange some parts
Because literally anyone with a basic grasp of the English language will not be able to stand a series that constantly talks about a mysterious entity that is literally named "Boogiepop".
It's comparable to creating a very serious historical anime, but naming the main bad guy Mr. Hingledingle.
Dropped it after 2 eps.
Because people have shit taste
Only the first arc was meh, the rest was fine to me
I really enjoyed it, the scarecrow arc was 10/10
What did they mean by this
7/10, they cut the BatNagi vignette that bridges the timeskip
That one isn't really necessary and it's after kod anyway
Too boogie and not pop enough

well yes, people complaining about it being boring or hard to understand can fuck off. it's not that we are smart is that you are used to literal shit

There it is again. It can't possibly be bad! You're just too du-, I mean, you're just too used to dumb shows to appreciate this smart one! See thats different.
>hurr durr I don't understand so it's bad
if you call that valid criticism you are a retarded
>and it's after kod anyway
I think that's actually a reason that its inclusion would have been cool. Anime only viewers would get hyped up on Habara dealing with the incident on his own, which would make the reveal that the lockdown of the Moon Temple and the appearance of the King of Distortion are separate matters as well as Shiro's interference and the true resolution all the more shocking. Playing around with the material could have been an interesting way to spice up the adaption.
As far as not being necessary; nothing is fucking necessary so why have an adaption at all? That's a retarded reason to excuse corner cutting. It's not central to "the plot," but it's important thematically to show that Nagi followed through on evolving as was discussed with her father who reiterates the point to lolimaginator, by way of taking up the mantle of a superhero/detective that she tried to coerce Scarecrow into taking. It also provided more characterization for Nagi with her visit to the office and her thoughts on trying to keep friends out of weird shit, which the anime essentially has none of since In the Mirror was skipped (OVA fucking when).
It's like saying they could have just cut Sakiko's story from Overdrive. Her part isn't necessary to the plot (besides locking Habara and Shiro in), so it could just be cut without impacting the narrative, right?
Which I didn't even say, but it is when its the result of nauseating direction my dude. But a criticism like that is just unfathomable to you, it must be because everyone else is too stupid
Daily reminder that pic related won
It snowed in april in Japan
Apologize
Of course he would win.
But did it melt away soon after?
If you say the series is shit because you don't understand, it's not valid criticism. Same goes to being boring because that's subjective. Like you found it boring, ok is not for you? Literally go back to something more fast paced like shonens? How do you want us to say to you to fuck off?
We are being rude because we don't want people who hate the series here.
Most people here loved this adaptation as is and want more. Your feedback is useless.
>If you say the series is shit because you don't understand, it's not valid criticism.
Again, just ignoring what I ACTUALLY said because you want to stick to your strawman
>Literally go back to something more fast paced like shonens?
This is exactly what I said, its always this strawman, anyone who had problems with the show is just one of those people who only ever watch "shonens"
>Most people here loved this adaptation
lol. Most people dropped it
>Your feedback is useless.
Then either stop responding of go fuck yourself

Thanks, this thread need it
Didn't have that one yet
What is it about?
Why is the series still on going? Why can't Japan finish something properly
Was it better than the first adaptation ? I liked the 2000 anime even if it was very cryptic.
The 2000 anime was some own thing. This was an adaptation of part of the LN main series.
The first volume is about connection to social environments and compassion, the next two volumes are about interpersonal relationships and influence on others, the anime skips the volume about the power of friendship in ordinary and extraordinary circumstances, and then the anime shuffles the volumes that are about "evolution" between generations as it relates to individual struggle against the status quo and drawing strength from negative experiences.

Because it's actually good and the anime community hates series like those.
Sounds like a book on philosophy. Sounds boring.
Touka-chan!
>small
based user
thank you
Cute serial killer
I've finished all the translated novels and i feel empty now
>This series basically invented the urban supernatural fantasy genre, and it's influence can be seen in series like A Certain Magical Index, Durarara!!, and the monogatari franchise. In fact, at one point, the author of the Monogatari series referred to the author of Boogiepop as a God.
Is this true? I wanted to start the series but I don't know if I should start with the novels or watch the anime adaptation, I love urban fantasy stuff
Nagi is better though
Watch the new anime, then read the novelsthen watch Phantom
*watch warawanai 1-3 then phantom then the rest of warawanai then novels
based and nagipilled
>Nagi is better
It popularized the LN genre in Japan, so I don't know if we hate or love Boogiepop for it.
>we get a season 2 but it's by shaft
Would you watch It?
If the OST is always by ushio then yes
yes but only for boogie's head tilts
embryo would be ruined
Why
Why does she wear that giant, stupid hat?
Hats are cool
I would rather have a proper adaption of the first volume by Shaft. In fact, let them re-do Returns as well.
This series? Because it's shit. Phantom? Because life isn't fair.
it's ironic that the story is about a mysterious being called Boogiepop but Touka ends up being far more mysterious and elusive.
So are Takeda and Touka still a thing? Sounds like their relationship grew rather distant
Well sounds like everyone in touka's environment gets sucked into the towa organisation. Wondering what Touka/Boogie is thinking about this...
Phantom fags are delusional as ever
Go seethe elsewhere, tertiary
I've loved this version of Boogiepop but I wish it had the same Lynchian feeling as the early 00s did.
She had more scenes during the 1st
arc but they cutted them off
I see, thanks
Touka a cute
>designs were bad
plain grounded designs are cute the fuck is wrong with you people
they love weebshit, god please forgive them
>So are Takeda and Touka still a thing? Sounds like their relationship grew rather distant
No problem. Almost nothing has changed between them, besides takeda looks busier at work than before (and touka has some complaints about it)
>Why are all the characters in this show so smug
If I had some super powers I'd be pretty smug too.

The Op and ED keep playing in my mind

Best post
S2 when I need more best girl Nagi
Because it tried to bait the audience with a PV featuring content non-existent in the actual anime
>ywn see the repent walpurgis series animated
anyone got the "where is my mind" screencap of Touka infront of the mirror?
Well I started this series when this thread opened and just finished it now, so glad to see it's still up. Overall it was pretty good, but can't say it was very amazing, and I have no reference to the source material. However the OP, ED, OST and non-sequential narrative were refreshing for me. And obviously, gotta love the smug.
Maybe I'm a mental midget or something, but I couldn't quite wrap my head around the very last scene. What was going on there? Was that just some sort of connected dream state between Boogie and Takeda after they fell asleep on the train? What was meant by "how did you know it was me?", isn't that a stupidly obvious question given the outfit? Am I mentally challenged, or am I just looking too deeply into a superfluous ending scene? Everything else made sense except this part and it's bothering the shit out of me. Please enlighten me.
I think "how did you know it was me" was meant in relation to Takeda seeing through the King of Distortions trick, and later knowing it is real Boogie.
That scene was anime original. The ending in the novel is about Kentarou is still unable to deal with his own distortion.
It means Boogie is a fucking liar and has a perfectly functioning sense of self.
I see. I was hoping a sourcefag would be able to flesh it out for me, but I guess that's not a possibility. Though I already had an inkling that this was just thrown in as some sort of "we only have 30 seconds to end this shit" kind of scene.
You philistine pleb.
I want to imagine
Boogiepop wants Toukas man to play games of pretend with.
What would Boogiepop in America be like?
I want to Boogieknock up Touka Miyashita!
shot
"Why don't we just pretend I'm Touka."
i want to cream a nagi
fpbp it's not original, not interesting, and the storyboard is a disaster. On a related note japanese writers really like trying to explain mundane concepts in abstract roundabout gibberish and boogie is an example of that not working well at all
>not original
What do you mean about that user?
Another faggot pretending to know the series
>boogiepop.fandom.com
Jesus that's a shit load of novels
>Boogiepop if Touka Miyashita is the Fire Witch
This looks fun
>VS Imaginator Part Ⅵ "The Satanic Majesty"
Where is part 5?
>Where is part 5?
heard it's in Like Toy Soldiers.
>Literal years worth of Boogiepop stories forever stuck in Japan
Just end it now, Lord
Anyone have the raw for Toy Soldiers. All the links I found are down.
>No Control, Man with No Future
This is quite different from japanese title.
>製造人間は頭が固い,Seizō Ningen Wa Atama Ga Katai
If this literally translated, "Productive Human Is Hard-Headed" would be correct.
pleb filter
Imaginator is everywhere
Takeda is so lucky
10000 years for a slut is a good deal
When will Touka reconcile witH Boogie? Isn't it implied in At Dawn that she knew about him but deleted her own memories to protect her normal life?
Supposedly in the drama CD with KOD volume
There is a drama CD with the KOD volume?
This
I need more boogie
BoogiePop 2000 was a masterpiece. Those with refined taste can only understand.
>boogiefiller
Why is this creepy bubble so cute
>Boogiepop 2019
Tries to rush through the books for some reason, turning the story into a weird mess with no point really
>Boogiepop Phantom
Has a better understanding of the series, gives each pov one episode, but focuses too much on the horror atmosphere, neglecting the dialogue that made the books so great.
Just read the novels, there is no reason to watch the anime unless you are allergic to books, and even then the anime is not good so you shouldn't watch it.
It's not rushed aside from the first arc
>Has a better understanding of the series
Bullshit
A cutie
I love boogiepopu.
What are some cool musical references in BP.
I noticed Imaginators power was named Strange Days, after a song.
Spooky Electric and Camille are aliases of Prince.
What are some others?
KOD touka is my heaven and hell. Imagine a touka who was a demon in the sack and asks "do you have experience?"
Take me now.
senpai
Because the adaptation is absolutely utter garbage.
I liked it
Might buy the novels
anyone else actually feeling bad for poor little Touka?
She didn't ask for this
She probably did. It's explicitly stated she erases her memories of Boogie's activities on her own, which means she's aware of it all. She might actually be Boogie itself and fakes the normal human personality.
she erases the memory of Boogie messing around so she can live a somewhat normal life, doesn't mean she likes being Boogie.
young Touka didn't seem particularily thrilled about it.
What is it about though
In the novel she seems more disturbed with her mother's behavior than the idea of having split personalities. The Dr. Kisugi even comments she can sense Touka's mother is the one with severe emotional/mental problems. The anime just doesn't capture the vibe of that scene properly.
Aoi Yuuki's voice work is masterful though.
Evolution.
She is a lot more aware than boogie implied at least, her switches, particularly small ones are pretty abnormal compare to standard cases desu
Being absolute shit.
Because it's good and the west only loves overrated shit
never

>Aoi Yuuki's voice work is masterful though.
Literally carried the show and one of the reasons it would be so hard for me to try and pickup the books. Along with the soundtrack.
Does the soundtrack get better or something? I watched the first book's worth of episodes and it was pretty mediocre.
To each their own I suppose. I wouldn't say the OST changes much from what you'd experience in the first arc. I personally enjoyed it, but just to be clear, there is a noticeable power gap between Aoi Yuuki's performance and the soundtrack.
What was her problem?
Futsuu.
What the hell was he after all?
An alien. He was originally a being of thought, but took on a human form when he came to Earth. His alien power made his human body evolve which attracted the Towa organization to him. They captured him and extracted cells and blood from her over-evolved body. With those cells they manufactured their evolution drug which can force a normal human to evolve.
