Was it perfect? Hell no, but the setting was magnificent. Development hit a few potholes, and some people got things they didn't need, or were left without things they were desperate for but it's still a masterpiece.

I'm 33 and watching Naruto for the first time, skipping the filler. The original series was surprisingly good but now I'm in Shippuden, near the end of Season 2 and it's been pretty bad so far. The pacing is awful, there's way too many flashbacks and I really don't see why people care so much about getting that faggot Sasuke back when he doesn't want or deserve it. Does it ever get better?
