>side character is built up just to get killed a few chapters later
Why?
Side character is built up just to get killed a few chapters later
Momonga is a no-goodunk, that’s why
You’re watching a wish fulfillment show like overlord. What were you expecting?
because the author goes "oh god oh fuck im gonna kill this guy off but nobody will give a shit"
That his group ended up being Ainz's slaves
Meaningful conflict is the soul of drama.
Overlord would've been way better if there were multiple warring players. Sort of a world suffering at the hands of inexplicable gods continuing their feud. I hate to say this, but it should've taken a page from the very last arc of SAO.
It subverts your expectations so it's good
Overlord is really good with side characters.
MC is like Jaws some unstoppable monster that only we know about.
We get introduced to a character and follow them and see how they get caught up in his quest for world domination.
Showing us the perspective of side characters is really interesting as well. Like how the races have different sayings or strange quirks that only their species has.
Also because it shows us their perspective we understand how they see Ainz. This is really interesting in the LN from the Emperors perspective. Because he sees Ainz as this all knowing unstoppable god like being and then when we get to Ainz's side of it we learn everything that has happened is just a comedy of errors.
Because it's a deconstruction of shonen your retard. Not only did it show the power of friendship didn't work, it's also reveal the hypocrisy of other series where a group of murderous "adventures" just invade wherever they like to kill and pillage like it's their natural right and retarded audiences just eat that up without questioning their morality, just because what they kill are "monsters".
This. Overlord is a HunterxHunter of shounen.
JJ Abrams please
Who else are you gonna kill?
It's rian johnson you meme loving fucker. Get it right
They invaded man-made ruins they assume weren't inhabited by humans (but I'm pretty sure they would have stopped if they had found humans).
Also it's stated multiple times (even by Ainz) that monsters are evil.
>they arent human so its fine
Fuck off human.
>"monsters"
The same monsters that kill humans for shit and giggles
The same monsters that torture humans
The same monsters that slave humans
The same monsters that make furniture with human bones
>Break into an evil monsters home
>Lie to the evil monster
Of course they are going to be killed.
See Also they kill little kids
b-but muh subversive isekai...
Overlord's MC is a Gary Stu with a story devoid of any conflict. Momo is for virgin NEETs to self-insert into to feel powerful and in-control because the only thing they've accomplished is logging hours into a pointless MMORPG, just like Momo.
>Momonga
>Gary Stu
It's stated multiple times (even by Momonga) that he's a retard with good luck that can only control his followers because they are literally programmed to be controlled by him and that the real mastermind in Nazarick is Demiurge.
>"humans"
The same humans that kill monster for shit and giggles
The same humans that torture monster
The same humans that slave monster
The same humans that make weapon with monster bones
He's not a NEET, he's a wakecuck. For bonus self insert points.
>The same humans that kill monster for shit and giggles
Only adventures kill monsters and they only kill those that affect humans negatively, and while only a small percentage of humans are adventures we have never seen a monster that isn't a killing machine.
>The same humans that torture monster
>The same humans that slave monster
When?
>The same humans that make weapon with monster bones
Recycling is bad now?
Why doesn't skeletor just use magic to grow flesh on his body?
>used to spend almost all his money on cash shop items and gacha for the most OP shit possible
Yea Forums must hate Ainz for being a whale.
NW is survival of the fittest, human nations are weak on average. Most adventurers don’t ever reach level 10, even the platinum adventurers are in their 30s level wise.
He's also a lucklet, had to whale his entire bonus for an item that his luckchad friend won for the cost of a lunch.
>getting attached to characters literally built to die
that's like getting attached to the family pig.
go to bed garou
>family pig
What?
You raise a pig and slaughter it for a feast
>When you make your main cast of characters overpowered and you aren't a good writer so you change to story to focus on random side characters that the viewer knows will die
Overlord good and then went downhill after volume 3 because the writer bit off more than he could chew.
What ever happened to the rubricks cube bitch? Did she solve it yet?
Because its funny. Iverlord is a black comedy. Your so supposed to laugh at the adventurers for being retards going into Ainz's domain.
>chapter is named after a character
>that character has the single purpose of jobbing to a villain because the villain isn't a threat to the MCs
>They invaded man-made ruins they assume weren't inhabited by humans
They already realized the tomb was inhabited by intelligence beings after seeing it's well maintained entrance. They admitted that.
>but I'm pretty sure they would have stopped if they had found humans
They would not. In the LN, the leader of Foresight admitted that they would kill any and everything they found inside to rob to loots, human or not. They were just that, scummy murderous grave robbers. It was implied they did these things before.
We will probably learn more about her when the story moves to the Elven Kingdom and the despicable father of hers (bastard Elf King) that she despises.
>The same monsters that kill humans for shit and giggles
Never. Ainz hates senseless killing. Any person Nazarick killed was to serve some purpose. Be it to create an utopia or punish sinners.
>The same monsters that torture humans
They aren't actually tortures, just experiments to find out the nature of the world or interrogation to find info.
>The same monsters that slave humans
It's just punishment for criminals and enemy combatants. Beside, they are way safer under Nazarick than living outside, so they actually do them a favor.
>The same monsters that make furniture with human bones
It's a way to respect the dead. And why does it matter? They 're dead already.
>Never. Ainz hates senseless killing. Any person Nazarick killed was to serve some purpose. Be it to create an utopia or punish sinners.
We are talking about monsters in general, in Nazarick the monsters follow the rules made by Ainz.
>They aren't actually tortures, just experiments to find out the nature of the world or interrogation to find info.
What about that guy in S3 torture by the blob woman?
>We are talking about monsters in general, in Nazarick the monsters follow the rules made by Ainz.
But this case is about Nazarick in particular. This episode is to show the hypocrisy and racism of human characters, who killed indiscriminately based on races, even though who they wanted to kill weren't fall into their racist tropes.
>What about that guy in S3 torture by the blob woman?
He is a criminal, a grave robber who killed Ainz's subjects while laughing at how weak they were. It's karmic and poetic revenge.
If the situation is to be reversed, a ugly monster slaughters human and laugh at them, then eventually is killed and maimed by superheroes, I'm sure you wouldn't complain a bit.
>But this case is about Nazarick in particular. This episode is to show the hypocrisy and racism of human characters, who killed indiscriminately based on races, even though who they wanted to kill weren't fall into their racist tropes.
The only thing stopped Nazarick's monsters from killing for shit and giggles like every other monster is that his leader has the mind of a human, and for obvious reasons the adventures never thought that the leader of the monsters was a human.
>He is a criminal, a grave robber who killed Ainz's subjects while laughing at how weak they were. It's karmic and poetic revenge.
Sorry, torture is injustificable.
>If the situation is to be reversed, a ugly monster slaughters human and laugh at them, then eventually is killed and maimed by superheroes, I'm sure you wouldn't complain a bit.
I'm pretty sure any normal human would say "dude, stop" and even try to stop it, there's a reason for why the terms "animal cruelty" and "police brutality" exist.
i only watched the anime and i did not understand why he was so furious about the raid? I mean he knew about it somewhat set it up, and he acts like these poor bastards are somehow the bad guys. I lost interest in this character after this.
>The only thing stopped Nazarick's monsters from killing for shit and giggles like every other monster is that his leader has the mind of a human, and for obvious reasons the adventures never thought that the leader of the monsters was a human.
The problem is their racism. They proceed to kill skeletons right after seeing them, without even trying to talk first. They just assumed all "monsters" were bloodthirsty maniacs that couldn't be reasoned with, without exception. The equivalence is a policeman shooting each and every member of a certain ethnic group solely because of their race, no question asked. Does that sound acceptable to you?
>Sorry, torture is injustificable.
She didn't torture him. It's interrogation.
>I'm pretty sure any normal human would say "dude, stop" and even try to stop it, there's a reason for why the terms "animal cruelty" and "police brutality" exist.
I failed to remember any superhero movie or shonen where the hero asks the monster to stop first before fighting it.
The moment I dropped this piece of shit
Shut up Garou
Because you are a speedwatching brainlet. He was angry because they lied to him about his friends. The one single matter he hold dear. Like if someone tells you they are your brother's friend and he tells them to meet you, while in fact he was killed in Iraq long ago.
To make their deaths more impactful. Are they actually impactful? no. But moreso than if it was generic soldier #12 getting mirked
>The problem is their racism. They proceed to kill skeletons right after seeing them, without even trying to talk first. They just assumed all "monsters" were bloodthirsty maniacs that couldn't be reasoned with, without exception.
The skeletons had weapons. And you are assuming that the skeleton is like the human race where the individuals can have extremely different personality when are thoso adventures who have more experience with monsters.
>She didn't torture him. It's interrogation.
You don't start interrogation hurting the genitalia.
>I failed to remember any superhero movie or shonen where the hero asks the monster to stop first before fighting it.
I'm not going to spoonfed you.
Where do you live?
Texas, unironically.
ill check it again, but im not sure if his reaction was justified in any way
You think we will ever see Demiurge's summoned demon use the Holy Queen as a flail to kill her own paladins in the show?
Will we make it all the way until we meet the first important side character?
well, he admints that they are lying out of desperation, and he can understand that, and his anger is no reasonable, then goes on admitting that the idea of INVITING theieves into the tomb displeases him and proceeds to kill them.
>The skeletons had weapons.
Because robbers were invading their home.
>And you are assuming that the skeleton is like the human race where the individuals can have extremely different personality when are thoso adventures who have more experience with monsters.
Because it's the truth. Even if you are an animeonly, you can see that even native undead like the dude in Six Fingers clearly had intelligence and personality.
>You don't start interrogation hurting the genitalia.
Are you an expert in interrogating?
>I'm not going to spoonfed you.
Because you also can't think of any example, right?
>Because robbers were invading their home.
So they assumed the humans were robbers?
>Because it's the truth. Even if you are an animeonly, you can see that even native undead like the dude in Six Fingers clearly had intelligence and personality.
But different skeletons can have different personalities?
>Are you an expert in interrogating?
It's simple logic that you don't start covering the mouth of the person you interrogate and inflicting MAXIMUM PAIN.
>So they assumed the humans were robbers?
How else would you think about a gang of armed strangers breaking into your home illegally?
>But different skeletons can have different personalities?
Why not? The LN clearly shows each undead has their own personality.
>It's simple logic that you don't start covering the mouth of the person you interrogate and inflicting MAXIMUM PAIN.
Probably because he wasn't willing to cooperate thus they had to break his will first.
>character dies
>resurrected and turned into jesus christ
To wank MAIN characters.
When she turned into Legolas and was mistaken for her father it was actually awesome.
no it's Togashi
>How else would you think about a gang of armed strangers breaking into your home illegally?
Assuming how their culture works I guess, nice double standards.
>Why not? The LN clearly shows each undead has their own personality.
You are comparing skeletons to (lets say) liches? Because my point was comparing skeletons to other skeletons.
>Probably because he wasn't willing to cooperate thus they had to break his will first.
We know that's not true because we see how it happens and also you start inflicting MAXIMUM PAIN, you start testing his pain threshold because inflicting more pain than the necessary is mere torture.
>LNshit
>good writing
Pick one
But the elf slave live after encountering Hamsuke.
