I think the main problem with this arc is how disconnected everything feels. It's like we have all these different places but have never really gotten a slow and steady transition from place to place.
With places like Skypeia or Water 7, the treck is slow and the places are well defined from the get go. Wano doesn't feel like a proper unified set.

Zoro will "die" by having a Kaidou show up and destroy that whole execution platform leaving nothing left, but in reality Hiyori took Zoro and time traveled forward in time for a few days because she has her mom's fruit. So Luffy and everyone thinks he actually died.

He stated he wants to actually beat her with this cake twice. And the success largely depended on Chiffon and Bege going out of their way to drag her away. It's definitely not the moment people had the right to expect. And in the end BM was still dangerous to the allied forces.

I just went back and looked at the chapters and never did it specify how long she was out, you pulled that our of your ass. In fact it cuts back to the "destroyed ship" right after showing her laying on the ground so it really wasn't that long after she ate the cake that she got back up.

So much of WCI was just constantly repeating the shit that we already knew was happening and forced drama. The Tea Party was exciting because we didn't know how it was going to go down and new stuff was always happening, but other than that it was the same Luffy and Sanji drama bullshit or a dragged out climax with recycled cliffhangers. Oda is usually good with giving us variety but it was so starved of that throughout most of the conflict near the end.

There is literally ZERO reason for Sanji to get married. Judge actively wanted to make a pact with Big Mom, they both wanted something out of each other, so why go out of the way to get Sanji so he can get married and celebrate the whole tea party?
It's something that wasn't necessary in the slightest, and yet Sanji treats it throughout the entire arc like something inevitable and something he must go through. What was the point?

Looking at all these pages of Wano, it seriously is clear in what ways the art has fallen off. Thicker lines, extremely low line count, shadows and bruises are not as detailed, "white broder" separation between layers is slightly thicker, disconnecting the picture further.
