Effectively creating these characters can be hard to do when the writer and/or the artist lacks a fundamental understanding of that which is both adorable and hilarious. To make this worse, fans often propagate this by lowering the standard of these characters by eating up whatever comes their way on surface level traits alone while ignoring other characteristics that shift away from the adorable and hilarious and towards the unappealing and humorless.
