I actually liked the anime and decided to check out the manga. On one hand, the anime is actually better. On the other, their plot points are the same and the manga feels like it just falls apart in interest and coherence to me. The pacing kind of sucks and everything is just a little boring and seems slapped together. He runs into the mysterious big bad right after getting into the demon slayer corps, and it’s a dandy nigga with a lame hat. His sister simultaneously has amazing willpower that keeps her from eating people, but miraculously doesn’t need to eat people to survive and grow stronger because she can get that from sleeping, and she has been hypnotized to like humans anyways. And she still wears her muzzle. That was all some kind of mumbo jumbo confused bullshit just to make it so the sister isn’t an issue, but most of it seemed unnecessary. And why shouldn’t the sister be an issue? That would’ve made the story have way more potential for suspense and shit. Instead she is just an action partner that has been thoroughly defanged.

But the style is ok and the anime has pretty good production, so it’ll probably be a decent action show with a wonky story of demon of the week loosely strung together by some nonsense.

The overall story is ok in my opinion, having Muzan and Tanjiro clash early on was bold but not the worst. Other than that I find the characters pretty entertaining and both the pace as well as the tune pick up once more recurring characters are introduced.

Tanjiro meeting Muzan sets up so much shit: Muzan’s past with the samurai with the Hanafuda earrings, Muzan’s personality and character, saving Tanjiro when he’s in the Pillar meeting. Either you were reading a synopsis or you just caught up as fast as possible and missed every essential detail.
