Why do I read everywhere that next seasons are better than the first while 3 episodes in the second I find the plot less interesting, the characters are more boring and the fight scenes are less fun because I can't hear the songs enough with all the fx above (in first season the sound balance was way better handled), for an anime about singing girls fighting, it kinda kills the hype.

s2's story only picks up from episode 5 onwards imo. The story is an okay followup to s1's ending. It introduces some characters people like, and Maria. The animation is more consistent.
But i still prefer s1, and i feel your sound balance complaint.
