Why has VN anime adoption stopped?

LNs don't have multiple routes.
Ian Nguyen
VNs went to shit.
Landon Russell
It evolved. Or devolved whatever you want to believe since they are mostly junk nowadays.
VN -> VVN -> WN.
Alexander Thomas
>VN
visual novel
>vvn
????
>WN
web novel
Adam Martin
VVN?
Bro what
Ian Carter
cause everythings shit after 2010
Ayden Garcia
I think he was trying to make a pun but failed.
VVN : eVolved visual novel, maybe? It evolved so much it turned into WN, W is made of 2 V after all.
Hudson Hernandez
Because they got tired of the foreign audience telling people to "read" "VNs" and it was confusing the connected domestic audience into thinking that maybe they are actually some kind of book. Many a cute library girl blushed when a fat otaku stormed in demanding eroge.
Aaron Jones
There's plenty of good visual novel realesed after 2010, it's just that the industry is dying.
Ethan Jenkins
Visual novels consistently have the best character designs.
Mason Wood
cute trap
Mason Taylor
do you play adobe reader too?
Bentley Kelly
I hope summer pockets is adapted.
Ayden Thompson
Adaptions are always shit and the visual novel community can't pull their head out of their ass.
Carson Williams
Has there even been a VN released recently thats actually worth adapting? Last VN that got adapted with a noticeable fanbase I can think of is Dies Irae.
Christopher Clark
what trap?
Camden Evans
he is a very cute girl ensemble-sweet.com
Henry Robinson
should I watch umineko guys
Jordan Murphy
Because VN is dying medium
Eli Foster
I want Maitetsu to be animated
It's pretty bland but some scenes might be pure comedy gold if animated, for example main girl eating coal
Camden Carter
Good VNs are far and few between these days, and a good VN anime adaptation is even harder to come across. They are never done justice in the anime format and are usually always mediocre.
Zachary Jenkins
>Dies Irae
absolute 100% traash
Christian Kelly
yes
Jaxson Walker
Yeah I heard it was pretty bad. Never read it myself, just noting it had a vocal fanbase here at one point and it's been a while since I've seen another VN pushed around here.
Adrian Butler
Kyoani were dumb when they put so much effort into VEG because the show wasn't that good. People like VNs because of cute girls drawn in high quality, but these are often lost in anime adaptations because the animation reduces them to look like shit. So if Kyoani continued to do romance VN adaptations like they used to, but with the same level of quality as VEG (I mean technically speaking - they could do with dropping all the filters) it would actually might work because it would be applied to the right material.
Sebastian Hill
Maybe they stopped because Kyoani isn't doing them right now. They weren't really successful outside of their adaptations. People didn't like inferior PA Works, JC Staff productions etc..
Jacob Ortiz
>watch
no
Tyler Barnes
too long and hard to adapt properly for little gain so it's understandable they aren't made yet. add into the decline of VN market as people no longer buy them much leading to makers "playing safe" leading to less stellar end products.
Still wouldn't mind seeing short OVAs that would just animate some of my favorite scenes from various VNs if nothing else but thats jsut a dream too
Adam Foster
Violet Evergarden is a masterpiece. Plus only autists complain about filters, you shouldn't pay them any mind. Having higher production values and less cost cutting 3dcg is well worth the trade off for a little post processing. Kyoani have the best production quality in the industry, no other studio could do a better job.
Hunter Reed
A masterwork in craft but a poor anime as a whole.
Noah Thompson
Because now it's stupid light novels with titles fifty words long that are the hotness.
Nolan Wilson
No. Violet Evergarden is underrated. How is it poor then user?
Jaxon Ortiz
Maybe you're right but I wasn't trying to start a discussion on VEG. What I was basically trying to say was that VN adaptations will always seem worse unless they go all out on production value. VEG was just an example of a show which was pretty, the closest I could think of that looks like a VN.
Brandon Richardson
They can't even properly adapt Phoenix Wright, that should have been the fucking easiest adaptation.
>Games split up into convenient chunks
>Just hire fucking iwadare to do an orchestral soundtrack inspired by the games
Bam, it is already better.
Angel Mitchell
1. Visual Novels are hard to adapt because incorporating multiple storylines into a single anime is challenging
2 VNs aren't that popular anymore
Samuel Peterson
There's literally one airing this season.
VNs don't lend themselves well to anime adaptations most of the time. They generally have multiple routes and competing 'main girls', meaning you either end up with YnS's 3 episodes per route (which only works with a porn game), a massively expensive multi-work series like Fate, or a hackneyed combo-platter that tries to fit 3-5 arcs into one 12 episode season. Two of those options are likely to be trash, and the other is a huge risk unless the VN is already a massive hit.
Jayden Bennett
>VNs aren't that popular anymore
Does the average Japanese even own a PC anymore?
Hudson James
Laptops are probably more common now, but most of them own computers for sure I'd say
Kayden Stewart
VNs get released on consoles too.
Aiden Cooper
>People like VNs because of cute girls drawn in high quality
lol
Gavin Long
Little Busters got an adaptation, go home folks
Jack Ramirez
>he reads VNs for plot
lol
Christian Jones
Only all-ages ones, or ones that are modified to be SFW.
